A Simple Way To Reduce Your Stress and Anxiety

in today’s video, I’m going to share with
you how you can relieve stress and anxiety from your life and actually
start to live in a state of what I call well-being peace and ease my name is
Ilan Feldman I’m a speaker mentor and coach and I run a company called Satori
Prime and one of the biggest things that we work on with clients is how to get
their system out of a state of anxiety and worry because I don’t know about you
but I have not yet met a human being that when they’re in that state of worry
when they’re in a state of frustration and anger they go out and
produce excellent results if you look at your life you’ll probably notice that
the results the best results that you’ve produced have always come when you’re in
a state of well-being when you feel happy when you feel peace what do you
feel fulfilled so the real question is how do we do that
and one of the biggest components of having stress or overwhelmed or anxiety in
the system is something called resistance see the human mind has a
The funny thing is that it does it is constantly looking to protect us now it
doesn’t look to protect us from the immediate actions or immediate
circumstances that are happening you’ll probably notice that there are some
circumstance in your life right now that what your mind has done is created every
what if every shoulda every cut up and it’s already looking to plan ninety
seven steps ahead of where you are right now whether that’s getting in
or out of a relationship whether that’s taking some sort of step in your
business or maybe it’s even something with your spouse or kids you’ll notice
that the mind likes to create things for us to worry about
now how do we backtrack that because that will always lead to stress and anxiety
and worry the make-believe stories that the mind makes will always feel you
leaving frustrated angry overwhelmed so the first thing to understand is
inch-by-inch is a cinch yard by yard it’s hard meaning what if you actually
looked at just the one next action step that you can take because look at the
reality of life have you ever created a game plan so far out that everything’s
happened the way that you designed it Mike Tyson used to say everyone’s got a
game plan then they get punched in the face
the truth is that life happens to all of us no one’s got it figured out no one
has the answers to everything because life is constantly unfolding and it’s
sending us things that we don’t necessarily like I took a course one
time and someone said you know choose between vanilla and chocolate but life
doesn’t show up choose between vanilla and chocolate sometimes life just says
choose vanilla and you don’t like vanilla or sometimes even worse it says
choose cancer or choose being fired or choose losing a loved one now do you
have a choice and how these things unfold no you do however have a
choice in how you respond to these things and that’s worth going to work on
because that is what creates suffering that is what creates pain that is what
creates anxiety and stress and those things in your body are killers so you
want to go out and live this amazing life but if in your system there’s a
a constant state of anxiety and stress and being overwhelmed because you’re worried about
things that probably will never even occur because of your resistance to what is the
reason that you struggle if you could just bring yourself to a state of
accepting and realizing this is exactly my perfect life experience this
is exactly what I meant to experience because there’s some valuable
a monumentally valuable lesson in this for me look back at your life and you’ll
probably realize that your biggest hardships up until this day are the things
that were hardest for you to go through have been
the biggest blessings are in disguise now what if you can bring that awareness to
your current situation right now what if you could look at that and realize this
too is a gift this too will make me stronger and find the ability to think
and accept that exactly what is occurring in your life gets you back
into that state of well-being and then from there you’ll notice how much easier
and more effortless your life can be so let me know in the comment box if this
resonates with you what you took from this and if you did make sure you like

6 Silent Signs Stress Is Killing You

– [Narrator] Hey, Psych2Goers,
welcome back to our channel. Have you been feeling stressed out lately? Stress can sometimes feel
like an unwelcome entity, much like how you might feel if you’re rushing assignments
or going out on a first date. It’s your body’s natural reaction when faced with challenges
and can help in short bursts. But feeling stressed constantly can have many negative
effects on your daily life. To help become more aware of what your body is trying to tell you, we will address six silent signs that stress might be killing you. Number one, your skin
is itchier than usual. Itchy skin can have various
causes such as allergies, insect bites, or even black mold spores. But have you noticed
your skin getting itchier without being exposed
to any of these things? High levels of stress can cause your skin to break out because of the effects stress
has on the immune system.

Being stressed leads your immune system to release the chemical histamine, which weakens your immune system. As a result, any external factors such as detergent, lotions, and heat, which you may have not
been sensitive to before, can cause an allergic reaction. To treat this, apply a cool, damp towel
to the affected areas. Number two, you have chronic
migraines and headaches. Do you feel like you
happen to have migraines every time you feel stressed? While many factors contribute to migraines, a study conducted in 2014 by the American Academy of Neurology showed that stress is
directly linked to headaches and migraines. This is mainly due to
the chronic inflammation that stress causes to the
brain, which affects blood flow and ultimately results in
headaches and migraines. Practicing routines to reduce stress may help alleviate these
occurrences from happening. Three, you’re developing wrinkles. Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like you have a lot of wrinkles for someone your age? Of course, this might have
something to do with genetics and how well you take care of your skin, but it’s important to notice the effect that stress can have
on your physical appearance.

A study published in the journal “Brain: Behavior and Immunity” in 2009 showed that stress can cause a reduction in collagen production, making you more likely to
develop wrinkles and fine lines. So although it’s very hard to tell, try to elevate how you feel and determine if stress might
be making your skin condition worse than it should. Number four, you forget things. Are you someone whose
memory was always good, but now you tend to forget
the simplest things? Well, one of the main reasons
for this might be stress, and this is backed up by research. A study conducted in 2014 by
the Journal of Neuroscience linked high levels of cortisol, which are the hormones released
when you experience stress, to short-term memory loss. Additionally, researchers
from the University of Iowa found that chronic stress leads to loss of synopsis in
the prefrontal cortex where our short-term memories are stored.

If you feel like you’re
steadily forgetting more and more things as days
pass, you may consider stress as one of the reasons
why this is happening. Number five, your digestive
system is giving you problems. Have you been feeling
uncomfortable after a meal no matter what you eat? Stress can cause a strong
reaction in your digestive system leading your body to produce higher amounts of digestive acid, which is responsible for the discomfort and subsequent problems
that you might experience.

These problems include bloating,
cramping, and diarrhea, according to Dr. Deborah Rhodes, a Mayo Clinic medicine physician. Additionally, the American
Institute of Stress has reported that your digestive system can be affected by the
increased heart rate from stress, causing
heartburn and acid reflux. Taking an over-the-counter
antiacid, or simple ginger tea, can reduce discomfort. And number six, your body
weight is fluctuating. Are you someone who tends
to check their weight? Have you noticed any unusual changes? Shauna Levine, a clinical
instructor of medicine at Icahn School of Medicine states that the way stress
affects your body weight is by releasing cortisol, and this hormone will
inhibit your body’s ability to process blood sugar while
changing the way your body metabolizes fat,
carbohydrates, and protein.

As a result of all these changes, as well as the effects that
stress has on undereating and overeating, you might start to notice unusual weight fluctuations. If you’re undereating,
try snacking on nuts with high protein
content to help you. If you’re overeating,
try to eat more fiber, since this will fill you up. Although these points have
individual treatments, you will eventually have to address the stress causing
all these problems. Stress isn’t all bad, as short bursts of stress
can help you, but you need to try things that can help with long-term stress, such as mindfulness, meditation, or yoga. Learning how to deal with stress through different techniques will help you avoid the emotional and physical
burden that comes with it.

TRANSCRIPT

Hi. This is Gill at www.engvid.com, and today we’re going to look at a particular type of thing that happens to people in their lives and also to look at the kind of way we describe it in the English language. Okay? So, we’re saying: “Don’t get stressed out!” Right? Now, getting stressed out is, with modern life, there are so many demands; we have to do things quickly, we have to survive, have somewhere to live, enough food to eat, somewhere to work, all of these things, and it causes a lot of stress. Okay? So this word “stress” is when you’re feeling very… Very upset and agitated, and worried because of everything that you have to do and everything that’s happening, and whether you can cope with it or not. So, modern life has a lot of stresses and strains. “Strains” are the same idea, really, things sort of pulling you around, making you do this and that, and you feel all the time you’re having to do what other people want you to do, and you have no control over what you’re doing, all of that kind of thing. And it can be quite upsetting if you don’t feel you’re in control of the situation.

So… So we’re saying: “Don’t get stressed out!” This is maybe a little bit of advice in here, along with the way of expressing it, about how to cope with stress if you’re feeling stressed. Okay? So there’s lots of pressure in the modern world, it can be traumatic, it can cause you a lot of anxiety. We’re always being bombarded by information, advertising: “Buy this. Do this. You should be doing this.” And there’s a lot of pressure on people to do things that maybe they don’t really want to do or they don’t see the point of doing, but other people are pressurizing them to do it. Okay?

So… So what someone might say if they’re in a job that is very, what we’d say highly pressured, a job that is very busy with a lot of responsibilities, somebody might say: “I can’t take the stress of this job!” Meaning: “I can’t… I can’t do it. I can’t keep having all this stress every day. It’s too much.” Okay? So: “I can’t take the stress of this job!” All right?

One of the terms we use for when you’re more comfortable with what you’re doing is that you’re in your “comfort zone”. It’s like a zone, it’s an area where you’re comfortable. The things that you’re happy doing, the things that you are confident doing, that’s in your comfort zone. So maybe being at home, watching television is in your comfort zone. Maybe going and playing some sports, going swimming which you enjoy, going out with friends may all be in your comfort zone where you are comfortable. Okay? So you stay inside your comfort zone if you don’t really want to try new things.

But sometimes, it’s a good idea to go outside your comfort zone or step outside your comfort zone just to test what you might be capable of doing. Okay? Just try a little something that’s different to see how it goes. So it’s not always a good idea to stay within your comfort zone all the time. Try to step outside it occasionally. I often try to try something new, see how it goes, and if it’s successful, then you feel great. “I’ve learnt something new, here”, and then you feel good about yourself. Okay? So, this term also: “Pushing the envelope” is another way of saying “going outside your comfort zone”, “stepping outside”. The idea of being inside an envelope, you have a letter inside, but the envelope is closed. But if you push the envelope, you’re sort of pushing outside it, trying something new, something different. Okay? So trying new things.
