Generalized Anxiety Disorder is when we have excessive worry or anxiety that last for at least 6 months. This anxiety and worry can lead us to feeling restless or on edge, easily fatigued, have difficulty concentrating, irritable, tense muscles, and struggle to get a good night sleep.This anxiety and worry can lead us to feeling restless or on edge, easily fatigued, have difficulty concentrating, irritable, tense muscles, and struggle to get a good night sleep.This anxiety and worry can lead us to feeling restless or on edge, easily fatigued, have difficulty concentrating, irritable, tense muscles, and struggle to get a good night sleep.In adults, this disorder tends to be focused around worry associated with health, finances, and everyday routine life circumstances. In children, this tends to present more as worry about competence (tests and assessments) and the quality of their performance (sports games, musical performances, etc). Although the median age of onset is 30 years old, those who they spoke to stated that they had felt anxious their entire lives.The good news is that there are many treatment options!First is talk therapy and more specifically CBT. This helps us challenge those automatic/faulty thoughts so that we can slowly get back to doing the things we used to do without worry or anxiety. This can take time and lots of therapy homework, but they find CBT to be the best therapy approach.Secondly, medication. I know not everyone is open to trying medication, but they find that CBT with medication gives us the best chance of recovery. Usually, SSRI’s or SNRI’s (otherwise known as anti-depressants) are used first. If those don’t help at certain intense moments, they may prescribe a benzodiazepine to be used only in acute situations due to its habit forming tendencies. So please be careful if you are prescribed these and do not use them every day.Lastly, there are some lifestyle changes you can make. Eating regularly and from a well-balanced diet can help. Also, cutting back on coffee and alcohol can help us sleep more soundly and get rid of any symptoms that may feel like anxiety. Getting exercise and taking time to meditate can help us better manage any of the anxiety symptoms we struggle with.I hope you found this helpful! I think the right word to describe today is it “sucked”. I don’t think I’ve ever said before out loud, but that goes to show that sometimes we keep our feelings down inside. I tried to film five different times and each time I started to feel anxious, self-doubt crept in, and I made myself believe that what I was doing here with this community wasn’t good enough. I shed a few tears out of frustration with myself and to try to calm down I wrote myself this letter. I know this is different than the usual, but today your comments will be a huge emotional lift so I cannot wait to read them. I realize now that when I feel alone this community is the place for me to come, for all of us to come when things just aren’t going in the perfect direction. Here’s my letter:“Sanne,It’s okay not to be okay. It’s completely fine to have a bad day once in a while and when you make mistakes you will grow from them. You rarely ever let things get to you, you’ve always been the rock for all the people in your life that you love so much. All the pressure that you feel inside is only coming from you and the people that support you in your life, community, and in your career only want you to be happy!If the price of success is your happiness than you need to re-define what success means and move towards a journey with more happiness. You have worked hard for almost two years as a model, content creator, girlfriend, and friend to the people in your life. Over the past year you have traveled non stop for modeling, you’ve made it a priority to create two videos a week, you’ve even opened up about things that you thought you never would.I know how you feel, because I hear you ask the question “why do I not feel okay”. You don’t need to have a reason for not feeling 100% right now, just be open to all the things you are feeling and remember that this feeling will go away on it’s own. Remember that sometimes a long walk, a sunset, a good workout, can make enough of a difference to change how you feel. The little things sometimes make the biggest difference.”So at this point I decided to go for a walk and I took my little camera with me to go to pilates and then called Max to come meet me near the studio I like to go to! Just by writing I started to feel better, then I felt that I could share a little bit about how I was feeling and once I finished making the little video I FELT free of the anxiety and self-doubt that had come over me all day.When I was putting my letter into typing I corrected the words I had misspelled and then I asked my friend Jason to read it over to make sure it made sense the way I wanted it too. Anxiety is an emotion characterized by an unpleasant state of inner turmoil, often accompanied by nervous behavior such as pacing back and forth, somatic complaints, and rumination. It is the subjectively unpleasant feelings of dread over anticipated events, such as the feeling of imminent death. Anxiety is a feeling of uneasiness and worry, usually generalized and unfocused as an overreaction to a situation that is only subjectively seen as menacing. It is often accompanied by muscular tension, restlessness, fatigue, and problems in concentration. Anxiety can be appropriate, but when experienced regularly the individual may suffer from an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is not the same as fear, which is a response to a real or perceived immediate threat; anxiety involves the expectation of future threat. People facing anxiety may withdraw from situations which have provoked anxiety in the past. Anxiety can be either a short-term “state” or a long-term “trait”. Whereas trait anxiety represents worrying about future events, anxiety disorders are a group of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear. Anxiety disorders are partly genetic, with twin studies suggesting 30-40% genetic influence on individual differences in anxiety. Environmental factors are also important. Twin studies show that individual-specific environments have a large influence on anxiety, whereas shared environmental influences (environments that affect twins in the same way) operate during childhood but decline through adolescence. Specific measured ‘environments’ that have been associated with anxiety include child abuse, family history of mental health disorders, and poverty.For example: lionel Richie-say you say meAnxiety is also associated with drug use, including alcohol, caffeine, and benzodiazepines (which are often prescribed to treat anxiety).
There are various types of anxiety. Existential anxiety can occur when a person faces angst, an existential crisis, or nihilistic feelings. People can also face mathematical anxiety, somatic anxiety, stage fright, or test anxiety. Social anxiety and stranger anxiety are caused when people are apprehensive around strangers or other people in general.Anxiety disorders often occur with other mental health disorders, particularly major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, or certain personality disorders. It also commonly occurs with personality traits such as neuroticism. This observed co-occurrence is partly due to genetic and environmental influences shared between these traits and anxiety.
Stress hormones released in an anxious state have an impact on bowel function and can manifest physical symptoms that may contribute to or exacerbate IBS. Anxiety is often experienced by those with obsessive-compulsive disorder and is an acute presence in panic disorder.
The first step in the management of a person with anxiety symptoms involves evaluating the possible presence of an underlying medical cause, whose recognition is essential in order to decide the correct treatment. Robert Gabriel Mugabe (; Shona: [muɡaɓe]; 21 February 1924 – 6 September 2019) was a Zimbabwean revolutionary and politician who served as prime minister of Zimbabwe from 1980 to 1987 and then as president from 1987 to 2017. He chaired the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) group from 1975 to 1980 and led its successor political party, the ZANU – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF), from 1980 to 2017. Ideologically an African nationalist, during the 1970s and 1980s he identified as a Marxist–Leninist, and as a socialist after the 1990s. His policies have been described as Mugabe.
Mugabe was born to a poor Shona family in Kutama, Southern Rhodesia. Following an education at Kutama College and the University of Fort Hare, he worked as a school teacher in Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia, and Ghana. Angered that Southern Rhodesia was a colony of the British Empire governed by its white minority, Mugabe embraced Marxism and joined African nationalist protests calling for an independent state led by representatives of the black majority. After making anti-government comments, he was convicted of sedition and imprisoned between 1964 and 1974. On release, he fled to Mozambique, established his leadership of ZANU, and oversaw its role in the Rhodesian Bush War, fighting Ian Smith’s predominantly white government. He reluctantly took part in the peace negotiations brokered by the United Kingdom that resulted in the Lancaster House Agreement. The agreement ended the war and resulted in the 1980 general election, in which Mugabe led ZANU-PF to victory. As Prime Minister of the newly renamed Zimbabwe, Mugabe’s administration expanded healthcare and education and—despite his professed Marxist desire for a socialist society—adhered largely to the mainstream, conservative economic policies.
Mugabe’s calls for racial reconciliation failed to stem growing white emigration, while relations with Joshua Nkomo’s Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) also deteriorated. In the Gukurahundi of 1982–1987, Mugabe’s Fifth Brigade crushed ZAPU-linked opposition in Matabeleland in a campaign that killed at least 10,000 people, mostly Ndebele civilians. Internationally, he sent troops into the Second Congo War and chaired the Non-Aligned Movement (1986–89), the Organisation of African Unity (1997–98), and the African Union (2015–16). Pursuing decolonization, Mugabe emphasized the redistribution of land controlled by white farmers to landless blacks, initially on a “willing seller–willing buyer” basis. Frustrated at the slow rate of redistribution, from 2000 he encouraged black Zimbabweans to violently seize white-owned farms. Food production was severely impacted, leading to famine, economic decline, and international sanctions. Opposition to Mugabe grew, but he was re-elected in 2002, 2008, and 2013 through campaigns dominated by violence, electoral fraud, and nationalistic appeals to his rural Shona voter base. In 2017, members of his own party ousted him in a coup, replacing him with former vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa. He died in Singapore.
Having dominated Zimbabwe’s politics for nearly four decades, Mugabe was a controversial figure. He was praised as a revolutionary hero of the African liberation struggle who helped free Zimbabwe from British colonialism, imperialism, and white minority rule.
