Sacré bombs away! France launches its first airstrikes against ISIS

http://twitter.com/#!/AP/status/512895928299442176

Whoosh, indeed:

Whoosh! And the news cycle moves on RT @SkyNewsBreak France have launched their first airstrikes against Islamic State targets in Iraq

— Camilla Long (@camillalong) September 19, 2014

But there are limits to what France will do. From the BBC:

President Hollande said on Thursday that French air strikes would only target the jihadist group’s positions in Iraq, and not neighbouring Syria.

He also insisted that he would not send ground troops.

Is anyone willing to send ground troops?

‘Tone-deaf and sad’: John Kerry addresses Iraq ‘crisis’ at last, royally blows it

http://twitter.com/#!/senatorshoshana/status/478902219744354304

Because priorities!

As Twitchy reported, this morning, Secretary of State John Kerry and Bill Nye the Not-a-Real-Science Guy teamed up for a Twitter forum about the ocean. That’s right. The ocean. Tweeters couldn’t help but wonder why Kerry would be futzing around with fish when Iraq is crumbling before our eyes.

Well, not to worry. Today, Kerry finally addressed the elephant seal in the room, thanks to a deep question from Nye:

http://twitter.com/#!/TheScienceGuy/status/478900525522374656

Wait … what?

http://twitter.com/#!/redsteeze/status/478902117206196228

Surely a professional like Kerry wouldn’t dignify such stupidity with a response, right? Pffft. Of course he did!

http://twitter.com/#!/JohnKerry/status/478900942927306752

Dude. That’s it? That’s his answer?

To his credit, Kerry did retweet a question from an irate tweeter wondering why the heck the ocean ranks higher on the State Department’s to-do list than mass human slaughter:

http://twitter.com/#!/JohnKerry/status/478903393097097216

Unfortunately, because he’s John Kerry, his answer demonstrated about as much intelligence as a hunk of seaweed. And that’s being generous:

http://twitter.com/#!/JohnKerry/status/478903860065755136

Profound. John Kerry, ladies and gentlemen.

http://twitter.com/#!/ChrisBarnhart/status/478906496978132995

Oh man, @TheScienceGuy asks John Kerry if Iraq-Iran are aware of global warming? Tone deaf and sad. Stop this nonsense #oceanchat now.— Ryan N. Maue (@RyanMaue) June 17, 2014

Iraq claims Islamic State group has captured 2,500 chemical rockets

http://twitter.com/#!/LizSly/status/486645700264878080

The Associated Press Tuesday night is reporting a claim by Iraq that “the Islamic State extremist group has taken control of a vast former chemical weapons facility northwest of Baghdad, where remnants of 2,500 degraded chemical rockets filled decades ago with the deadly nerve agent sarin are stored.”

The U.S. government, for its part, has “played down the threat from the takeover, saying there are no intact chemical weapons and it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to use the material for military purposes.”

So, are these WMDs, former WMDs or just an example of ISIS propaganda?

Obama to make Iraq statement before heading to Martha’s Vineyard

http://twitter.com/#!/markknoller/status/498090817509400577

Before leaving for vacation on Martha’s Vineyard today, President Obama will deliver a statement about Iraq:

http://twitter.com/#!/markknoller/status/498103135702106112

Will Obama’s golf clubs be seen being loaded on Marine One during his Iraq statement?

http://twitter.com/#!/mdrache/status/498102066284208128 http://twitter.com/#!/RightGlockMom/status/498102128167387136 http://twitter.com/#!/HgHatter/status/498102725729878016 http://twitter.com/#!/grammy620/status/498105590824980480

There’s speculation about how late Obama might be:

The war vs. ISIS these days functions in fact a pursuit: ‘Operation Inherent Resolve’

http://twitter.com/#!/jaketapper/status/522405409089675266

What’s consequently odd about “Inherent Resolve” will there be getting reports such that it have-been considered and scraped as an interest while was also “bleh.” Nevertheless now it’s back?

Regarding the war goes, nonetheless it is a much more precise subject:

@jaketapper I do believe you spelled "Incoherent" wrong.

— Rick Moore (@RickMoore) October 15, 2014

“Incoherent Resolve” is funny as it’s genuine.

Alot more commentary:

"Inherent" Resolve a ridiculous complement ISIL op. "Quivering" or "Wavering" appropriate. Reach ponder over it, "resolve" doesn't work both.

— John Noonan (@noonanjo) October 15, 2014

Dana Perino notes a ‘heckuva correction’ regarding Bush’s Iraq war coalition

http://twitter.com/#!/dzielinski/status/514486123285209088

The myth that President Bush “went it alone” against Iraq refuses to die. It took the New York Times 12 days to issue a correction to its Sept. 11 claim that “Unlike Mr. Bush in the Iraq war, Mr. Obama has sought to surround the United States with partners.”

Dana Perino provided a shot of the “heckuva” correction, published today.

Heckuva correction. pic.twitter.com/xqgUidR61C

— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) September 23, 2014

As the National Review points out:

While similar, President Bush’s 2003 Iraq coalition actually dwarfed President Obama’s alliance against the Islamic State – at least in its current iteration.

Bush’s international coalition to depose Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein involved over three dozen nations and tens of thousands of ground troops, including 46,000 from the United Kingdom, 2,000 from Australia, and thousands from Poland, Ukraine, South Korea, the Netherlands, and Georgia. Countries from Europe, East Asia, and Latin America all participated.

@DanaPerino just a tiny one…….

‘Meet the Press’ grills Romney over Obama’s failures

http://twitter.com/#!/Nyghtewynd/status/478193646328881152

Mitt Romney was a guest on NBC’s “Meet the Press” this morning. He slammed President Obama’s handling of the situation in Iraq and called Hillary Clinton “clueless” about the Bowe Bergdahl trade.

Since blame Bush isn’t working out too well these days, leftists and their allies in the media have moved on to blaming others for Obama’s failures.

9-term incumbent Democrat loses primary in Massachusetts

http://twitter.com/#!/shiracenter/status/509547158090313728

Down goes Rep John Tierney in Massachusetts’ sixth congressional district:

http://twitter.com/#!/thehill/status/509666432851136512

Of note, national Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi and Liz Warren, couldn’t save Tierney:

http://twitter.com/#!/Coondawg68/status/509661225433591808 http://twitter.com/#!/dccc/status/497358000664113152 http://twitter.com/#!/WuWCVB/status/473510245386711040

Now let’s meet the Democrat who beat Rep. Tierney, Iraq war veteran Seth Moulton:

[. . .] Seth joined the Marine Corps in 2001. Although Seth was firmly against the Iraq War, Seth served his country and led his platoon — eventually serving four tours of duty in Iraq over five years. Seth led an infantry platoon during the 2003 invasion and was in the first Marine company to enter Baghdad. Later, he worked to establish an independent Iraqi media. The following year, Seth returned to Iraq as an infantry platoon commander and fought in the lead company in the Battle of Najaf. At the request of then-Lieutenant General David Petraeus, Seth remained in Iraq and joined a small team of Marines working closely with Iraqi security forces and served as a liaison to senior Iraqi leaders south of Baghdad.

This actually looks like good news for the Dems as Moulton is thought to be the stronger candidate against Republican Richard Tisei:

The GOP response so far? Not much:
