What Happened to This Dog Made My Stomach Turn. Thank Goodness For The Ending.

If you remember the classic 90s movie Homeward Bound (and you should), you’ll remember one of the animals had an encounter with a porcupine. The tense scene shows Chance getting attacked by a grumpy little porcupine, leaving quills in his face (and rendering me terrified of porcupines for the rest of my life). Well, when that happens in real life, it’s about 25x more terrifying and looks like a scene from a gruesome horror movie.

Bella Mae the bulldog came face-to-face (or face-to-quilled-tail) with a porcupine at her home.

Emergency Animal Center

Bella got a little too close to the wild creature, with attacked with full force. Her owners had to rush her into the emergency animal care.

Emergency Animal Center

Vets had to perform emergency surgery to remove the quills from her face; they also found quills lodged in her mouth and feet.

Emergency Animal Center

They believe over 500 quills were embedded in poor Bella.

Emergency Animal Center

Most of the quills were removed, but in case there are any left, the dog will be on medication and under medical supervision.

Emergency Animal Center

Dr. Leonardo Baez at the Animal Emergency Center in Oklahoma City said he has never seen a case that bad, especially from an animal that lived in a densely populated area.

Emergency Animal Center

So be careful when you let your pets outside.

Emergency Animal Center

Not every scent they go sniffing after will lead to a happy ending.

Emergency Animal Center

Thankfully, Bella will be okay. The Noles children were shaken by the attack, but they are recovering, too, now that they see their dog is back to normal. Source: News9 So learn your lesson: do not stick your face anywhere near a porcupine.

Smuggling Paraphernalia Can Be Hard Work, Even When It Fails. This Is Ridiculous.

I figured smuggling would be an interesting line of work, but I had no idea just how strange it actually was. It’s difficult enough to get perfectly legal foods across borders, so naturally trying to bring illegal things into a country is even harder. You can’t just slap a fake mustache on a bag of cocaine and tell security it’s your Uncle Pete. (Even if that does sound outlandishly genius.)

If you want to make money off of contraband, you have to be creative. Just take a look at some of the weird examples below–and don’t forget, these are the techniques that didn’t work.

1.) Avocado Filled with Cocaine

2.) Stuffed Animal Stuffed with a Handgun

3.) Clams Stuffed with Cocaine

4.) Chocolate-covered Methamphetamine

5.) Ceramic Cats Filled with Opium

6.) Money in Bread

7.) Cocaine in Breast Implants

8.) Ecstasy Inside of a Mr. Potato Head Toy

9.) Marijuana Packed into the Shape of a Donkey

10.) Geckos in Books

11.) Plant Base Filled with Ephedrine

12.) Wooden Door Filled with Cocaine

13.) Frogs in a Film Cannister

14.) Anabolic Steroids in Lubricant Bottles

15.) Snake in a Clay Pot

16.) Cocaine in Candy Eggs

17.) Soccer Ball Filled with Cigarettes

18.) Dead Bugs Filled with Cocaine

(via BoredPanda)

Whoa. That sure is an interesting line of work. Imagine what these people could have done with those creative minds of theirs if they had chosen a career where most retirement parties don’t take place in a prison. This really makes you wonder how people successfully brings these things in!

Jake Was Badly Burned In A Fire As A Pup, But His Story Is So Inspiring

Not many people would even consider abandoning a family member after they were caught in a house fire.

But Jake’s family did just that.

When firefighters managed to pull the tiny pup from the flames, he had already suffered bad burns. His family took the poor boy to the vet…where they promptly abandoned him. But that’s not where his story ends.

Jake was abandoned after a fire left him badly burned.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

He was estimated to be only a few weeks old at the time.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

After weeks of rehab, Jake made a full recovery. Sadly, though, his scars from the fire remained.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Fortunately for Jake, the firefighter who rescued him took him under his wing and adopted him.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Since then, he’s been hanging out at the firehouse with his new owner.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

He’s even become the official mascot of the department, traveling around the city with firefighters when they give fire safety lectures at schools.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

He was also officially sworn in by the city as a member of the department.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Jake plans to become a therapy dog to continue his helping ways!

The Story Of What They Found In This Guy’s Home Would Make For A Perfect Horror Plot

Growing up, I’m sure most of us had that one creepy neighbor. You know, the one who just seemed off in some way — maybe not in a “kill you in cold blood for no reason” kind of way, but still bizarre.

Looking back now, you can probably boil that down to being a kid and not knowing much about the world. For Redditor SomeKindOfHypnotist, however, his assessment of the creepy guy next door was actually tame compared to what was really going on.

SomeKindOfHypnotist says that the house he grew up in was right next to that of an older gentleman, affectionately known as Creeky.

While there were many strange things about Creeky, one of the weirdest things of all was that he always seemed to have an enormous amount of cats and dogs hanging out on his property. From the outside, it seemed like Creeky lived in squalor, but SomeKindOfHypnotist says that he actually owned properties all over town.

Creeky never spoke to anyone, and the only time he left his house was to go to the grocery store. There, he bought pet food, grapes, and a 12-pack of Pepsi every week. He always paid with a $100 bill.

After SomeKindOfHypnotist moved away, the third floor of Creeky’s house collapsed. That’s when he moved into an RV that was parked on the property. Not long after that, his house mysteriously burned to the ground. A few years later, Creeky was finally placed in a nursing home by the state. The Redditor’s father got a call from out of the blue one day, and the person on the other end of the line turned out to be Creeky’s sister. She asked him to go check on the property so that she could prepare to sell it.

His father agreed, but what he found inside the RV and Creeky’s other cars was nightmarish.

He discovered stacks and stacks of crates, each containing the rotting or mummified remains of a cat or dog.

var OX_ads = OX_ads || []; OX_ads.push({ slot_id: “537251602_56ff3071e9843”, auid: “537251602” });

Some of the bodies had been placed in cardboard containers, and others were simply stuffed inside black garbage bags.

I can’t even begin to imagine how horrible this must’ve smelled.

The animals that never made it into cardboard caskets or garbage bags just decomposed where they fell.

var OX_ads = OX_ads || []; OX_ads.push({ slot_id: “537251604_56ff3071e99f9”, auid: “537251604” });

While it’s hard to say for sure, it’s likely that Creeky killed most of these poor animals himself.

All that was left of Creeky’s house was this pile of rubble and ash. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if there were some human remains in there somewhere.

(source: Reddit)

Just imagine growing up right down the road from that madness. The Redditor never said what happened to Creeky after he was put in the nursing home. All we can do is hope that this disturbed man received the help he clearly needed.

These 25 Albino Animals Are Different… But Beautiful. The Baby Deer Is Just Amazing.

Albinism and Leucism are two similar conditions in animals characterized by reduced pigmentation. The difference is that Leucism, unlike albinism, is caused by a reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin. This Ferocious Big Cat Is Best Friends With A Small Dog. It’s Too Precious.

The Garold Wayne Interactive Zoological Park in Wynnewood, OK, just south of Oklahoma City, is home to several different exotic animals: tigers, lions, zebras, monkeys and more. But what makes the park really special is the bond that formed between one of their big cats and a very small dog.

Bonedigger, a 500 lb lion, spends his days with his best friend Milo, an 11 lb miniature dachshund. The odd couple became friends when Milo sensed the gentle giant was suffering from a metabolic bone disease. Milo does his best to comfort him, the two cuddling and playing together. Zookeepers say Milo even tries to mimic Bonedigger when he’s communicating with other lions in the park, attempting similar huffs and puffs. Take a look at the adorable duo:

Milo even acts as Bonedigger’s personal dentist!

Can You Spot What’s In This Picture? It’s The First Time This Has Ever Been Photographed.

A group of photographers were on a INDRI wildlife tour in Rhumbak Valley of Hemis National Park in India when they encountered a rare sight. There was a herd of blue sheep moving across a valley, unaware of a hidden predator nearby. What unfolded next was so amazing; and it was the first time it was ever photographed.

The photographers were hoping to see some action. They didn’t know it yet, but they were about to get lucky.

Can you spot what’s hiding in this picture?

There is a predator hovering nearby.

And just in case you need some help.

A snow leopard was camped out, high above the sheep.

He was carefully waiting and plotting.

Then, when a young sheep wandered too close, he pounced.

He chased the few sheep close to him until he singled one out.

The young sheep made a grave mistake and attempted to run up the hill, letting the leopard get too close.

And soon, it was all over for the blue sheep.

Source: INDRI Tours via Twenty Two Words Snow leopards and their amazing camouflage have been caught on film before, but it is exceedingly rare for anyone to see them hunt from start to finish. “This was truly an incredible encounter we had been so, so fortunate to witness; a full Snow Leopard hunt from beginning to end including the take and kill. Our Snow Leopard spotter had been working in Hemis for 16 years and he had never seen this happen before nor knew anyone else who had been as fortunate as us… I am exhilarated therefore to be able to share my images and story of this hunt with you.” The power and skill of these animals are truly impressive. To learn more about cool wildlife tours you can take (so you can see this kind of action for yourself), check out the INDRI tours website. Imagine Going To Get The Mail Only To Find That Spiders Have Take Over The Mailbox

For most of us, coming across a nest of huge spiders would basically be a nightmare.

Though I think they are fascinating creatures, there’s no way I’d be okay with them living inside something that I regularly use. However, one woman couldn’t be happier about all the spiders that are currently chillin’ inside her mailbox.

When Natasha Joyce from Victoria, Australia, recently found a female huntsman spider in the box, she decided to let her — and all of her eggs — stay in there. After a few weeks, she was strangely overjoyed to find hundreds of baby spiders making themselves right at home.

Even the neighborhood kids were excited about all her new little nopes.

Huntsman spiders aren’t actually all that dangerous to humans, but their bites can be very painful. Plus, they get pretty aggressive when it comes to protecting their young.

YouTube / Brennon Hatton

Though most of the babies won’t survive, it definitely has to be unsettling to have that many in one spot.
