When You Hug An Animal — Big Or Small — They Know You Mean Well
January 21 was National Hugging Day — and before you say, ‘Wait…there’s a day for that?’ let me reassure you that of course there is, and it’s incredibly important. So it may not be equal to Independence Day, but some might argue it’s a close second.
Here to show you just how important — oh yeah, and adorable — it is are the incredible folks over at Edgar’s Mission in Australia.
Would someone possibly, maybe, perhaps give me a hug? After that, I’m dying for one!
If you’d like to learn more about the incredible work that Edgar’s Mission does at their animal sanctuary, you can do so here.

This Ferocious Big Cat Is Best Friends With A Small Dog. It’s Too Precious.
The Garold Wayne Interactive Zoological Park in Wynnewood, OK, just south of Oklahoma City, is home to several different exotic animals: tigers, lions, zebras, monkeys and more. But what makes the park really special is the bond that formed between one of their big cats and a very small dog.
Bonedigger, a 500 lb lion, spends his days with his best friend Milo, an 11 lb miniature dachshund. The odd couple became friends when Milo sensed the gentle giant was suffering from a metabolic bone disease. Milo does his best to comfort him, the two cuddling and playing together. Zookeepers say Milo even tries to mimic Bonedigger when he’s communicating with other lions in the park, attempting similar huffs and puffs. Take a look at the adorable duo:
Milo even acts as Bonedigger’s personal dentist!

These Firefighters And Wildlife Workers Go Above And Beyond To Save A Koala.
Apparently, Australians take their koalas very seriously. And who can blame them? The eucalyptus-chomping marsupials are so darn cute. When Melbourne firefighters were alerted to an injured koala stuck in a tree, they didn’t waste a moment coming to its aid.
Nicknamed “Sir Chompsalot” by his rescuers, the fluffy herbivore was able to make a full recovery after receiving CPR and mouth-to-mouth from a Wildlife Victoria employee who joined in on the firefighters’ life saving mission.
That’s right: koala mouth-to-mouth.
He fell from his post high in a tree, luckily landing in the blankets firefighters held on the ground.
After massaging his lungs in an attempt to start his breathing, the wildlife expert took one for the team while waiting for the oxygen mask to arrive.
And lucky for the adorable little guy, it worked!
Check out this video of the full harrowing experience:

Sir Chompsalot was then taken to a veterinary facility where he continues his recovery. This woman definitely deserves an award! And maybe a raise.
