If you are a member of the body of Christ, get ready to face a mad devil. You may not want to think about it or even accept it – but if you have determined to follow Jesus with all your heart, Satan has marked you for destruction. And he’s going to flood your life with troubles of all kinds. The apostle Peter warns, “The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer” (4:7). He is saying, in other words, “This is no time for lightness. You have to get sober-minded about spiritual matters. It is an issue of life and death.” Why the need to be so serious? The end of time is near – and our enemy has turned up the heat. He is stalking us like a lion, hiding in the grass, waiting for an opportunity to pounce. He wants to devour us – to utterly destroy our faith in Christ. Some #Christians say we shouldn’t even talk about the devil, that we’re better off just ignoring him. Others try to reason him out of existence. Liberal theologians, for example, argue that there is no devil, no hell, no heaven. But the enemy of our souls is not simply going to go away. Few biblical figures have been identified so clearly and extensively. He is described as Lucifer, Satan, devil, deceiver, hinderer, wicked one, usurper, imposter, accuser, devourer, god of this world, ruler of darkness, old serpent. These emphatic descriptions tell me the devil is real. And we know from scripture that he wields a very real power. Even now he is at work on the earth – in our nations, cities, churches, homes and individual lives. And we dare not be ignorant of his methods and strategies of warfare against us. The Apostle John Tells Us That Throughout #History the Devil Has Declared War Three #Times. Revelation 12 describes three instances when Satan has declared war: 1. He first declared #war against almighty #God himself. John writes: “There was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the #Devil, and #Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:7-9). This passage recalls the moment in heaven when Satan rose up in rebellion against God’s supreme authority. At the time he was known as Lucifer, an angel who had great authority. But Lucifer wanted to be as God. So, enlisting a third of the angels, he led an uprising against the almighty. But God cast Lucifer out of heaven, along with the other rebellious angels. All of heaven rejoiced in the victory. The devil lost that war, as well as his place in heaven. 2. A defeated Satan then declared his second war – this one against God’s son, Jesus Christ. John writes: “There appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: and she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. …. The Message Begins With A Revelation Of God’S Grief Over The Cause Of The Apostasy Before the antichrist is revealed, there will be a mystery of Lawlessness already at work. The one who is coming will appear after a furious activity of apostasy. Satan and all the powers of darkness will be setting the stage – destroying the faith of many. Because sin will be more rampant, the love of many of God’s people will grow very cold. There will be shipwrecked believers on all sides. God’s greatest concern is not what Christians are falling into – but what they are falling away from! Multitudes of Christians including pastors, deacons, ministry people of all kinds are losing their faith and confidence in the power of Jesus’ name! They are turning away from Christ as the answer to everything. They are falling away from a childlike faith in Him alone as the solution to all life’s problems. He told Isaiah: “Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever? (Isaiah 30:8). The literal translation is, “That it may be for future generations, for the latter days.” The 30th chapter of Isaiah is God’s message to this latter day church. How very accurate and true it is! What is this mystery of God? In the New Testament, the word ‘mystery’ occurs a number of times. It means a secret which cannot be understood without God’s revelation. It is not a secret that cannot be understood at all, but one that only God can reveal. The mysteries mentioned in the New Testament can basically be summed up under two heads: (1) The mystery of godliness (1 Tim. 3:16); and (2) The mystery of iniquity (2 Thess. 2:7). The mystery of godliness is the truth. The mystery of iniquity is the lie. The “mystery of godliness” can be divided into three parts. (a) The first part of this mystery of godliness is mentioned in 1 Tim.3:16. In the previous verse, the church is called “the pillar and support of the truth” (v.15). Of which truth? The one mentioned in the next verse: “Great is the mystery of godliness; Christ was manifest in the flesh and was pure in the spirit, beheld by the angels, proclaimed among the nations.” The essential message here is that Jesus Christ came as a Man like us and was yet pure in His spirit. So we too need not sin. We can walk as He walked. (1 Jn.2:6). That is `the truth’. The church is to be a pillar upholding this truth! But unfortunately, the church through the ages has not held up this truth. (b) The second part of the mystery of godliness is mentioned in Eph.5:31, 32. 1 Tim. 3:16 referred to a great mystery. Here too we see a great mystery – the mystery of Christ and the church being one flesh. Jesus Christ has now got a bride (the church) – who also walks as He walked, keeping her spirit pure. (c) The third part of the mystery is mentioned in 1 Cor. 15:51,52, where we are told how we will be transformed into the likeness of Christ in the twinkling of an eye, when Jesus comes and the last trumpet sounds. Now we come to “the mystery of iniquity” (2 Thess.2:7)- which is basically that Satan also manifests himself in the flesh – finally as the Antichrist. In verses 9-11, we read of Satan working through the spirit of the antichrist with lying signs and wonders and the deception of wickedness to deceive people. We also read of God sending a deluding influence upon those who don’t receive the love of the truth so as to be saved – “so that they might all believe THE LIE” (v.11 – Literal). What is the lie referred to here? It is the lie that Satan told Eve in the garden of Eden: “You can sin and get away with it. God won’t punish you.” That is the greatest lie that Satan has deceived the world with. Even many believers believe that lie of Satan!! The mystery of iniquity is that this lie has worked and worked and drawn many into deception. This culminates in false Christendom giving Satan a bride – Babylon! She also is called a mystery in Rev.17:5, just as the church is called a mystery. The false church can be identified by this mark that it proclaims Satan’s lie that “you can sin and God will not take it seriously”. ….. #Zac #Poonen – #Pride is More #Dangerous than #Adultery In Obadiah Chapter 1, Obadiah spoke about God’s judgment on Edom. Edom is a type of our flesh. So this prophecy symbolises the destruction of the flesh. It speaks here about the pride of Edom. “You are proud because you live in those high, inaccessible cliffs. `Who can ever reach us way up here!’ you boast. Don’t fool yourselves! Though you soar as high as eagles, and build your nest among the stars, I will bring you plummeting down, says the Lord.” (v.3,4). The flesh always seeks to exalt itself. But God is determined to destroy that pride completely. If thieves came at night and robbed you they would not take everything. But here, “every nook and cranny will be searched and robbed, and every treasure found and taken” (v.6). The application of this for us is that every little corner that is called “flesh” in us, every lust of the flesh, will be totally destroyed and overcome by the power of the Spirit. Edom was being punished because of the violence that they did to their close relatives, Israel, because in the time of Israel’s greatest need, when they were being taken captive, they “deserted Israel in their time of need and stood aloof, refusing to lift a finger to help them when invaders carried off their wealth” (v.10,11). They had acted as if they too were Israel’s enemies. Edom did nothing to help Israel. There are sins of commission as well as sins of omission. Often when we think of sin, we think only of the sins that have been committed. Notice, in the story of the Good Samaritan, that the priest and Levite did not commit any sin. They did not beat up the wounded man. Their sin was that they did not lift a finger to help that needy man. Do we realise that not helping a needy person is a sin? That is a sin of omission. Edom did NOT do what they should have done – and the Lord took it seriously. Edom’s second sin was that they gloated over Israel’s capture (v.12). When something bad happens to somebody you don’t like, do you feel happy? That is sin. We are not to rejoice over someone else’s misfortune. But that was not all. Edom attacked those helpless Israelites and cut them down at the crossroads (v.14). They cooperated with Israel’s enemies. Finally, the Lord spoke about the restoration of Israel. Almost all the prophets spoke about restoration. “Jerusalem will become a refuge for those who escape” one day (v.17). It will be a holy place. And the people of Israel will come back to reclaim their inheritance. At that time Israel will become a flaming fire for the Lord, and Edom a field of dry stubble. “Deliverers will come to Jerusalem and rule all Edom (the flesh). And the Lord shall be King!”(v.21). Today, God has called us to be those deliverers, proclaiming to God’s backslidden people, “Behold your King,” and inviting them to come back to Him. What was the cause of Edom’s fall? “The pride of your heart has deceived you” (v.3). When we are proud, we open ourselves to spiritual deception – because pride is the very nature of Satan, the deceiver. The moment you become proud of something – good looks, intelligence, spirituality, Bible knowledge, anything – immediately the devil holds your hand and says, “You and I are in fellowship now.” Jesus Christ, on the other hand, was the humblest Man that walked on earth; and the moment you humble yourself, you come into fellowship with Him. Pride is more dangerous than adultery because adultery is an outward sin – and sins that are outward and obvious are not as serious as sins that are hidden. Obadiah warns those who are complacent in their pride that they are deceived. Barely any preachers these days would even dare to preach on this subject but how sad that falls from the new testament normal of hell as a normal doctrine taught and discussed. Jesus spoke of hell more then heaven, listen carefully and know that there is a #eternal hell. This message is a very vivid and powerful description of the nature of hell. David describes the physical #sufferings of the sensation of burning for eternity. He also delves into the mental sufferings due to the conscience replaying every lost opportunity that the sinner had to receive #Christ while #alive. There is also a description of the spiritual sufferings of the sense of drifting further and further from God for eternity. David speaks of the sad truth that most of mankind will be going to hell and that most church parishioners are also going to hell because they are not truly saved and are not really following Jesus with their lives. This message is a very powerful and shocking wake up call to anyone who has not yet made a true decision to follow Christ. It’s also a powerful reminder of how much we must labor to help as many people as possible to be saved and avoid a dreadful eternity in hell. Zac Poonen – Victory Over Sexul Sin | Must Watch

In Ezekiel 16:49-50, #God describes the real #sins of #Sodom that led to the destruction of that city (in Genesis 19). Most of us have always associated Sodom with sodomy (homosexuality) and other sexual sins. But #sexual sin was the ultimate result of a way of life. What was it that led them into such depths of evil? Here we are told that Sodom’s sins were actually : – #Pride – #Laziness – #Gluttony (love of good food) and – Neglecting the poor and needy These were the reason why God wiped out that city. It is interesting to note that God does not even mention their sexual sin. #Sexual #sin in Sodom was the result of their lazy, comfortable life-style. What can we learn from this? That there is a close connection between * pride and sexual sin, * laziness and sexual sin * gluttony and sexual sin and * a lack of concern for other people and sexual sin. Consider just these four areas. Many of you who are young have to admit that you are finding it very difficult to overcome your sexual passions. That is an extremely difficult area. But why not begin by overcoming in these four easier areas? You may, then, find it easier to overcome in the sexual area. Begin first of all, by humbling yourself in all situations. Avoid all arrogance. Then begin to be hard-working and diligent in whatever you do. Then try fasting — avoiding food — once in a while. And fourthly, begin to think a little more about the needs of people around you and see how you can help them. Try this prescription for one year and you may discover that overcoming your sexual passions becomes easier. We cannot overcome any sin without grace from God – but He gives His grace only to the humble; and He helps only those who are kind and helpful to others.
