How to cope with anxiety | Olivia Remes | TEDxUHasselt

Anxiety is one of most prevalent mental health disorders, with 1 out of 14 people around the world being likely affected. Leading up to conditions such as depression, increased risk for suicide, disability and requirement of high health services, very few people who often need treatment actually receive it. In her talk “How to cope with anxiety”, Olivia Remes of the University of Cambridge will share her vision on anxiety and will unravel ways to treat and manage this health disorder. Arguing that treatments such as psychotherapy and medication exist and often result in poor outcome and high rates of relapses, she will emphasise the importance of harnessing strength in ourselves as we modify our problem-coping mechanisms. Olivia will stress that by allowing ourselves to believe that what happens in life is comprehensive, meaningful, and manageable, one can significantly improve their risk of developing anxiety disorders. My Anxiety Attack on Camera | My Anxiety Coping Mechanisms

– Open Me – hey guys! i know it’s been a second since i came on here, but i wanted to make sure i did my best with this video. with May being #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, i wanted to share with y’all a more helpful mental health related video. unfortunately, i ended up having an anxiety attack on camera. instead of instantly turning off the camera like usual, and with mental health awareness month in mind, i decided to leave the camera on. i tried to annotate it as best as i could to describe more of what was going and what i was thinking, while also trying to be sensitive to viewers that may come across this. idk to me it’s better to be hypersensitive instead of not caring so much while discussing heavy-ish topics like this. i hope y’all learn something or benefit even in the slightest from this video. hopefully this is the beginning of more to come. i love and appreciate you all so so much and only wish you the best. thank you ♡ “H A P P Y” Playlist – https://open.spotify.com/user/theelizarose/playlist/58YcDM0oMgQlMKcRGyEZHC?si=ZvHMzEwkQTSouGbGUGvtNA “feel good” Playlist – https://open.spotify.com/user/theelizarose/playlist/5lrCXjaLAh5PacbOu1tK7O?si=lVq0OZ98RK6dzcAU9lg8JQ KEEP UP WITH ME! Functional Disorders and Medically Unexplained Symptoms

This book is based on extensive research in assessment and treatment of patients with functional disorders and provides a thorough background to functional disorders as well as the etiology, classification and treatment of the disorders. The book primarily targets clinicians in primary care, non-psychiatric specialties and other health care professionals. The chapters combine research and clinical experience and also provide techniques that can be applied in daily clinical practice, both in terms of identifying the patients as well as helping the patients to better cope with their disorder. The highly structured hands-on treatment programme described in the book is now a compulsory part of the specialist training of Danish primary care physicians and has won the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicines Alan Stoudemire Award for Innovation and Excellence in Psychosomatic Medicine Education.

Beyond Prozac

Lovelessness and loneliness cannot be explained by chemical changes in the brain and cured by the ingestion of drugs. Lovelessness and loneliness, like anxiety and depression and all the ways of expressing distress which are called mental disorder, are part of what it is to be human, but part that can be understood.

Psychedelics in Unlocking the Unconscious: From Cancer to Addiction – Gabor Mate

Therapy that is assisted by psychedelics, in the right context and with the right support, can bring these dynamics to the surface and thus help a person liberate themselves from their influence. Special focus will be given to the speaker’s experience in treating addictions and other stress-related conditions, both with aboriginal people and in non-indigenous contemporary healing circles. This work has been done under the guidance of indigenous Peruvian shamans and their Western apprentices. Gabor Maté, MD is a Canadian physician, speaker, and the author of four bestselling books published in nearly 20 languages on five continents. His interests include the mind/body unity as manifested in health and illness, the effects of early childhood experiences in shaping brain and personality, the traumatic basis of addictions, and the attachment requirements for healthy child development. He has worked in family practice and palliative care, and for twelve years he worked in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, notorious as North America’s most concentrated area of drug use. He currently teaches and leads seminars internationally (drgabormate.com).
