Facebook Data: The Scott Walker Boom Is Real

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was talked about 1.2 million times on Facebook last week, a 500% increase from the previous week. But the surge in interactions was accompanied by a drop in positive sentiment.

Scott Walker led the pack of possible Republican presidential contenders for Facebook interactions measured last Monday through Friday, with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz trailing him at 1 million interactions, and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry coming in third at 599,000.

The Wisconsin Republican delivered a well-received speech at a gathering of conservative politicians and activists in Iowa the Saturday prior to his jump in interactions.

Walker is also ahead in a Des Moines Register poll of likely voters in Iowa, leading the crowded Republican field at 14%.

Everyone Is Talking About Jim Carrey’s Speech. In Just 1 Minute, He Absolutely NAILS Life.

In an emotional commencement address at Maharishi University in Iowa last month, comedy actor Jim Carrey dropped his usually goofy persona to give some solid, real-world advice to college graduates. In this 61 second clip below taken from his speech, Jim tells the students a poignant story of how his late father inspired him to follow his dreams and to take a chance on doing what he loved and advised the students not to ‘play it safe’.

Here is the latest polling news from Iowa on the Senate race between Republican and veteran Joni Ernst and Democrat Beatle Bailey Bruce Bailey Bruce Braley:

And an excerpt from the write-up:

Iowa Republican State Sen. Joni Ernst is inching ahead among likely voters in the U.S. Senate race and now has 49 percent to 45 percent for U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley, the Democrat, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Five percent remain undecided.

This compares to results of an October 23 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN- uh-pe-ack) University, showing Sen. Ernst at 48 percent and Rep. Braley at 46 percent.

Today’s results show independent voters backing Ernst 50 – 41 percent. Republicans back Ernst 90 – 4 percent. Democrats go to Braley 94 – 4 percent.

The reverse gender gap in this race continues as women back the Democratic man 50 – 42 percent, while men back the Republican woman 56 – 39 percent.
