High temps in NYC means it’s time for Bette Midler’s global warming rant

http://twitter.com/#!/BetteMidler/status/415203921913585664

In addition to the above, earlier this month, Bette Midler tweeted that a warmer than usual New York City winter day was a sign of “global warming,” having previously blamed a cooler than usual summer day on “climate change.”

In December of 2012, Midler also warned of the upcoming global warming apocalypse, but she got quick relief from the heat a day later.

The NYC forecast calls for temps to get down to around 30 degrees by Christmas, so Midler can again switch from “global warming” to “climate change.”

Rep. Joe Salazar backs Sarah Silverman’s anal probe of Gov. Scott Walker

http://twitter.com/#!/kjfierro/status/353589384127324161

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker yesterday signed legislation that would require women seeking abortions to obtain an ultrasound in order to help them make an informed decision. That move inspired comedian and Disney voice actress Sarah Silverman to express her desire to anally probe Walker whenever he himself needed help making an informed decision. That tweet was about as logically sound as it was classy, but it earned a retweet nonetheless from champion of (some) women’s rights, Colorado Rep. Joe Salazar.

http://twitter.com/#!/seanagnew/status/353589342901506048

Yes. Yes, he did.

http://twitter.com/#!/HouseSalazar/status/353587427270594560 http://twitter.com/#!/EEElverhoy/status/353601275809632256 http://twitter.com/#!/rwmccrory/status/353605143125700609

Why, yes. Salazar, many will remember, is the Colorado Democrat who argued strenuously against allowing women the right to choose their own form of self-defense. As citizens of Colorado argued the merits of sweeping new gun control measures earlier this year, Salazar argued against concealed carry and in favor of alternatives like call boxes, rape whistles and campus “safe zones.” A ban on campus carry would preclude hysterical women from popping off rounds mistakenly in situations in which they wrongly assumed they might be in danger.

If Walker is hypothetically in danger of forced anal intrusion by Sarah Silverman, could he at least enjoy the benefit of a Joe Salazar rape kit, complete with whistle and ball-point pen? Salazar apologized “if” he offended anyone with his comments suggesting women couldn’t be trusted to recognize when they were in danger, and despite the patronizing attitude he apparently still fancies himself a champion of women’s rights.

No, but it would have been nice if screaming protesters chanting “Hail Satan” could have been on hand. It’s pro-choice tradition, you know.

Yes, Walker’s “private” signing of the bill is just another one of those tactics, like those sneaky “midnight votes” to restrict women’s rights. Of course, the only reason the Texas senate’s vote on S.B. 5 was held at midnight was because of Sen. Wendy Davis’ 11-hour filibuster delaying it until then, but … midnight!

“Secret” votes in the dead of night? That’s like signing a bill in your office on a Friday after a public hearing and several readings and multiple votes on amendments over the course of a full month. Very sneaky.

Let’s get this straight, then. A man voting to restrict a woman’s right to defend herself with a firearm if she so chooses does not fall under the “war on women,” but requiring an abortion provider to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital does.

Many say Salazar has blocked them on Twitter rather than debate the finer points of the war on women, but he, Planned Parenthood and NARAL seems destined to be best friends forever.

Washington DC Mayor Vincent Gray ‘deeply disappointed’ in Marion Barry’s comments

http://twitter.com/#!/mayorvincegray/status/187968204663029761

DC Council Chairman Kwame Brown also weighed in:

“I strongly disagree with the recent remarks made about Asian American business owners in the District.  Statements like that are divisive, destructive, and have absolutely no place in our city.  The District’s character is enriched by the wonderful diversity present throughout our communities. Our city takes great pride in the variety of people who live here; we value and regard all of our residents and welcome all visitors.  This respect includes recognition, consideration and incorporation of multiple voices and perspectives in our city’s policies and economy.  I remain committed to celebrating diversity, eliminating harassment, discrimination, and victimization, and promoting equality of opportunity for all people.”

North Koʻolaupoko is an area in the City & County of Honolulu, Hawaii, United States, on the island of Oʻahu. It corresponds to the Waikane census-designated place, with a population of 778 at the 2010 census. In Hawaiian, koʻolau poko means “short windward”, referring to the fact that this is the shorter of the two windward districts on the island (Koʻolauloa or “long windward” is the other). Koʻolaupoko extends from Makapuʻu Point on the southeast to Kaʻōʻio Point on the north. Included within the district, south of North Koʻolaupoko, are the largest windward towns of Kāneʻohe, Kailua, and Waimānalo. North Koʻolaupoko lies mostly along the coastline of Kāneʻohe Bay and consists of several lush valleys that extend inland to the steep face of the Koʻolau pali (cliff). The first valley north of Kahaluʻu is Waiāhole. Next is Waikāne, then Hakipuʻu, and northernmost is Kualoa. This area differs from the towns, valleys, and ahupuaʻa of the southern part of Koʻolaupoko in that it is mostly undeveloped, decidedly rural in character, with many small farms. Despite the long shoreline, public access to Kāneʻohe Bay is somewhat limited by private holdings. A small community park at Waiāhole was enlarged and improved in 2003. A larger city and county park at Kualoa provides camping and picnic areas, a long narrow beach, and views of Mokoliʻi Islet (Chinaman’s Hat). The south side of Kualoa Regional Park faces onto Kāneʻohe Bay, and the east shore is a fringing reef off the Pacific Ocean coast of northeast Oʻahu. The U.S. postal code for all of North Koʻolaupoko is 96744 (the same as Kāneʻohe).
