Horrifying NY Post cover photo depicts man about to die, readers disgusted

http://twitter.com/#!/gaysian7/status/276041826920693760

New York Post readers were greeted this morning with a shocking sight. Slapped across the cover was a photo of a man seconds away from being killed by an oncoming subway train:

Today’s @nypost cover of the man on the subway tracks is probably the craziest I’ve ever seen. twitter.com/samir/status/2…

— Samir Mezrahi (@samir) December 4, 2012

The Post is now facing a very nasty backlash — and they’ve earned it:

Just saw the @nypost‘s cover today of a man moments before his death from a subway pusher. SICK & immoral to print it imho.

— Braf Zachland (@adammc123) December 4, 2012

Now i can’t un-see that…. The New York Post cover today is too much for my heart.

— Miss Ange (@MissAngeOnAir) December 4, 2012

Cover of today’s @nypost photo of man about to be killed by subway is reprehensible. Way that paper floats in public space, unavoidable.

— Aaron Stewart-Ahn (@somebadideas) December 4, 2012

. @nypost lacking common sense with today’s cover. Terrible.

— Craig Hooghiem (@craighooghiem) December 4, 2012

#Outraged at cover of The New York Post (DISGUSTING) Man gets hit by a train and they print a pix of the train coming toward the man! Smfh

— MSKNICKS (@MSKNICKS) December 4, 2012

— Social✽Fly (@ABHuret) December 4, 2012

I love gossip as much as the next but @nypost went TOO FAR w/ their cover today.Disgusting.(thanks @erinmacal 4 heads up)

— Marna Palmer (@MarnaP) December 4, 2012

I hope the editors behind today’s NYPost cover have their last moments of life horrible exploited.

— Aubry Parks-Fried (@mrsapf) December 4, 2012

The @nypost cover is a crime. Photographer claims he fired off his flash to warn the conductor. While running at the train. While managing

— Dan Krokos (@DanKrokos) December 4, 2012

DEAR @nypost, this is an exmaple of horrific journalism and you should be ashamed. The editor should be fired. bit.ly/Yw1QLc

— Zoë Gulliksen (@bookishbelle) December 4, 2012

Smh at today’s @nypost cover! uncompassionate schmucks

— Karεn Ciѵil (@KarenCivil) December 4, 2012

The #NYPost cover today is just ridiculous. They have no shame

— V.XIII.LXXXVIII (@nycbreed718) December 4, 2012

That New York Post cover is horribly disrespectful.

— bread xtravaganza (@MavisGary) December 4, 2012

I always knew @nypost was a disgusting rag but today’s front cover is so outrageously gross words can’t possibly describe it. Shame on them.

— Scott Roth (@scottroth76) December 4, 2012

Disgusted and horrified @nypost for splashing a man who’s about to die on their cover. Tasteless and unethical journalism

— Lindsey Cohen (@LindzelBean) December 4, 2012

@nypost officially put themselves in the zero class category with today’s cover ….might be the most tasteless thing I have ever scene

— Isaiah Orlen (@ISOglobal) December 4, 2012

And what about the man who lost his life?

@nypost Tosay’s cover crosses all lines of decency. His family is going to see the photo of him about to be killed.

— Sharon Kuper (@SharonKuper) December 4, 2012

Imagine if the man in that @nypost front page photo about to be killed by a train was your friend & you saw that on a newsstand.

— CatsPolitics (@CatsPolitics) December 4, 2012

We can’t. Just horrible.

But perhaps the Post’s colossal lapse in taste highlights something even more disturbing than the cover itself:

Everyone on that platform watched that man die & did nothing but run or take pics. Shameful. And the #NYPost is disgusting for that cover!

— Tzena Nicole (@TzenaNicole) December 4, 2012

Why did no one save the man in NY? Why did people just watch him instead of helping him?

— Melissa Clouthier (@MelissaTweets) December 4, 2012

High temps in NYC means it’s time for Bette Midler’s global warming rant

http://twitter.com/#!/BetteMidler/status/415203921913585664

In addition to the above, earlier this month, Bette Midler tweeted that a warmer than usual New York City winter day was a sign of “global warming,” having previously blamed a cooler than usual summer day on “climate change.”

In December of 2012, Midler also warned of the upcoming global warming apocalypse, but she got quick relief from the heat a day later.

The NYC forecast calls for temps to get down to around 30 degrees by Christmas, so Midler can again switch from “global warming” to “climate change.”

Rep. Joe Salazar backs Sarah Silverman’s anal probe of Gov. Scott Walker

http://twitter.com/#!/kjfierro/status/353589384127324161

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker yesterday signed legislation that would require women seeking abortions to obtain an ultrasound in order to help them make an informed decision. That move inspired comedian and Disney voice actress Sarah Silverman to express her desire to anally probe Walker whenever he himself needed help making an informed decision. That tweet was about as logically sound as it was classy, but it earned a retweet nonetheless from champion of (some) women’s rights, Colorado Rep. Joe Salazar.

http://twitter.com/#!/seanagnew/status/353589342901506048

Yes. Yes, he did.

http://twitter.com/#!/HouseSalazar/status/353587427270594560 http://twitter.com/#!/EEElverhoy/status/353601275809632256 http://twitter.com/#!/rwmccrory/status/353605143125700609

Why, yes. Salazar, many will remember, is the Colorado Democrat who argued strenuously against allowing women the right to choose their own form of self-defense. As citizens of Colorado argued the merits of sweeping new gun control measures earlier this year, Salazar argued against concealed carry and in favor of alternatives like call boxes, rape whistles and campus “safe zones.” A ban on campus carry would preclude hysterical women from popping off rounds mistakenly in situations in which they wrongly assumed they might be in danger.

If Walker is hypothetically in danger of forced anal intrusion by Sarah Silverman, could he at least enjoy the benefit of a Joe Salazar rape kit, complete with whistle and ball-point pen? Salazar apologized “if” he offended anyone with his comments suggesting women couldn’t be trusted to recognize when they were in danger, and despite the patronizing attitude he apparently still fancies himself a champion of women’s rights.

http://twitter.com/#!/OrwellForce/status/353546523721744384

No, but it would have been nice if screaming protesters chanting “Hail Satan” could have been on hand. It’s pro-choice tradition, you know.

http://twitter.com/#!/redsteeze/status/353578240897585152 http://twitter.com/#!/HouseSalazar/status/353579561247711232

Yes, Walker’s “private” signing of the bill is just another one of those tactics, like those sneaky “midnight votes” to restrict women’s rights. Of course, the only reason the Texas senate’s vote on S.B. 5 was held at midnight was because of Sen. Wendy Davis’ 11-hour filibuster delaying it until then, but … midnight!

http://twitter.com/#!/texyellowdogdem/status/352463113343336449

“Secret” votes in the dead of night? That’s like signing a bill in your office on a Friday after a public hearing and several readings and multiple votes on amendments over the course of a full month. Very sneaky.

Let’s get this straight, then. A man voting to restrict a woman’s right to defend herself with a firearm if she so chooses does not fall under the “war on women,” but requiring an abortion provider to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital does.

@HouseSalazar Looking at unborn baby = #WarOnWomen Killing unborn baby = "Women's Health" BTW: Cowardice = blocks dissenters.— Caleb J Herod (@CJHerod) July 06, 2013

http://twitter.com/#!/ExJon/status/353576865883095040

Many say Salazar has blocked them on Twitter rather than debate the finer points of the war on women, but he, Planned Parenthood and NARAL seems destined to be best friends forever.

Washington DC Mayor Vincent Gray ‘deeply disappointed’ in Marion Barry’s comments

http://twitter.com/#!/mayorvincegray/status/187968204663029761

DC Council Chairman Kwame Brown also weighed in:

“I strongly disagree with the recent remarks made about Asian American business owners in the District.  Statements like that are divisive, destructive, and have absolutely no place in our city.  The District’s character is enriched by the wonderful diversity present throughout our communities. Our city takes great pride in the variety of people who live here; we value and regard all of our residents and welcome all visitors.  This respect includes recognition, consideration and incorporation of multiple voices and perspectives in our city’s policies and economy.  I remain committed to celebrating diversity, eliminating harassment, discrimination, and victimization, and promoting equality of opportunity for all people.”
