Ted Lieu spins the tax bill: It’s all about how jealous little Sally FEELS about her skimpy tax cut
Well, he can look for a silver lining. The vast majority of Americans might be getting a tax cut, but the bill’s still unpopular. And why’s that? Because Sally’s going to be jealous when she finds out someone else got more money back from the government.
GOP underestimates how people feel when they know others got a better deal. If Sally gets a tax cut of $380 but others get $200,000, she will be upset. And wait until Joe finds out he is getting a tax increase for residing in CA. That's why tax bill is so unpopular: human nature. https://t.co/uPr9aWBAsn— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) December 20, 2017
Yeah, “how people feel” is a hell of a basis on which to write the U.S. tax code. Hey … some people are already cranky that they’ll be getting to keep more of their own money, but that’s just too bad, isn’t it? Send it back!So is this like Chelsea Handler’s rationalization that there will be a backlash against the tax bill in 2018 and Democrats will sweep into office? That’s one (bad) way to spin it.
I'm not sure that "this bill is unpopular because people are innately jealous and greedy" is a great argument here, Ted. https://t.co/K5Sj8ifYAD— neontaster 🚟 (@neontaster) December 20, 2017

Eleanor Norton falsely claims she’s being Fluked by House Republicans
D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton is channeling her inner Fluke to cry victim about the way she’s being treated by the House Subcommittee on the Constitution. She desperately wants to testify in defense of late term abortions—sorry, “D.C. autonomy”—at a hearing today, but the majority Republican panel isn’t interested in her yammering.
Man, those GOP meanies sure do hate the womenfolk. Especially noted GOPers Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Michael Quigley (D-Ill.), John Conyers, Jr (D-Mich.), and Bobby Scott (D-Va.)
Those Democrats have a discretionary witness slot that could have been used for Norton’s testimony. Apparently, they’re just not that into her.
Instead, Norton was invited to submit written testimony and the panel will hear from Christy Zink, a professor who had a late term abortion after discovering complications with her pregnancy. But cue the outrageous outrage from the sisterhood!
they're trying to silence @EleanorNorton testimony 4 #DC women the way @DarrellIssa tried w/ me #WeWillNotBeSilenced http://t.co/75hskoHN
— Sandra Fluke (@SandraFluke) May 16, 2012
Aw, precious. She’s still pretending that she was “silenced.” Honey, it’s time to embrace the term “unqualified.”
Just like @SandraFluke, DC's @EleanorNorton has been denied a chance to testify on women's health. #letDCspeak http://t.co/zncq5UDs

House GOP not allowing @EleanorNorton (D-DC) to testify on #GOP bill assaulting women's health in #DC: http://t.co/pDzWkbW7 #Shameful
— Nancy Pelosi (@NancyPelosi) May 16, 2012
No, former Speaker. The assault on “women’s health” is coming from you and your fellow cheerleaders for abortion after the 20 week mark.
It's mystifying that Rep. Norton would be denied the chance to testify on a #GOP bill that would hurt the women of DC. http://t.co/Q3IUBkG1
— Sen. Barbara Boxer (@SenatorBoxer) May 16, 2012
Reps in Congress elected 2 speak on behalf of people, your rep should not b sidelined! Let DC Rep @EleanorNorton speak on DC women’s health!
— Barbara Mikulski (@SenatorBarb) May 16, 2012
I stand w/ DC’s Rep. @EleanorNorton, urge House #GOP to allow her to testify on bill attacking women's health in #DC
— Steny Hoyer (@WhipHoyer) May 16, 2012
Funny, none of the Dems on the subcommittee took to Twitter to crow about silencing the wimmenz. Shouldn’t these legislators be asking, “When—when?!—will the Democratic patriarchy end this War on Women?”
