Steve Cohen glad president taking interest in #TamponTax

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), who declared in a hearing that Planned Parenthood is “in his DNA,” says he’s glad to see his 1988 proposal to eliminate sales tax on feminine hygiene items is finally gaining traction.

He can very likely credit this new attention to the #TamponTax to a series of interviews President Obama held with YouTube stars in the week following his State of the Union address. IngridNilsen was the YouTube personality who asked the president, “Why do these items continue to be taxed?”

Why hasn’t this come up during the debates yet?

Jonah Goldberg shares another pathetic Pelosi fundraising email

http://twitter.com/#!/MarlaMRose/status/511291495807479808

So much pressure is being put on National Review’s Jonah Goldberg to save the midterm elections for the Democrats from the evil influence of the Koch brothers that it’s almost unbearable.

So far he’s received emails from the DCCC with the all-caps header, “ACCEPT DEFEAT,” followed by another headed, “All Hope Is Lost.” Rep. Nancy Pelosi herself even reached out with the very downbeat email headed, “disappointed jonah” — apparently she was too sad to even capitalize his name.

Now Goldberg has shared the latest missive from Pelosi, or an old ex-girlfriend calling herself Pelosi, begging for the use of his grassroots power.

I'm sorry Nancy, it's not you it's me. Oh no wait, it's really you. pic.twitter.com/tHSgJJqBDk

@JonahNRO soon she will be boiling your kid's rabbit.

@JonahNRO "I will not be IGNORED, Jonah!"

— John Podhoretz (@jpodhoretz) September 14, 2014

@JonahNRO I think we're only a couple of emails away from the Dems acting like Tony Soprano's Russian GF after he breaks up w her.

@JonahNRO she is such a boob. Sorry, but I said it. #PelosiEndangers

— Bob Kirnum (@Rkirnum) September 14, 2014

@JonahNRO It's like an abusive husband. Say no to domestic violence… don't give Dems another chance. The Kochs are gentlemen.

— Jason Willoughby (@jpwilloughby) September 14, 2014

@JonahNRO Do those Koch Brothers wear black hats, six shooters and hang out with the Hole in the Wall Gang?

— Norm Ray (@norm_ray) September 14, 2014

@JonahNRO Help me to help you, Jonah. -Nancy P.

— John Hethcox (@john_hethcox) September 14, 2014

@jpodhoretz @JonahNRO "Your words say no, but your eyes say YES"

— Jeb Bos (@BigJebBos) September 14, 2014

Eww, that’s almost as bad as that creepy “I need you” email sent by “Barack Obama.”

@JonahNRO when will they learn that no means no?

The Internet of Toys

The Internet of Toys (IoToys) is a developing market within our Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. This book examines the rise of internet-connected toys and aims to anticipate the opportunities and risks of IoToys before their widespread diffusion. Contributors to this volume each provide a critical analysis of the design, production, regulation, representation and consumption of internet-connected toys. In order to address the theoretical, methodological and policy questions that arise from the study of these new playthings, and contextualise the diverse opportunities and challenges that IoToys pose to educators, families and children themselves, the chapters engage with notions of mediatization, datafication, robotification, connected and post-digital play. This timely engagement with a key transformation in children’s play will appeal to all readers interested in understanding the social uses and consequences of IoToys, and primarily to researchers and students in children and media, early childhood studies, media and communications, sociology, education, social psychology, law and design.
