Healthier Students Are Better Learners

In this webinar, Dr. Charles Basch, Richard March Hoe Professor of Health and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, presented causal connections between health factors (such as poor vision, asthma, and tooth decay) and motivation and ability to learn. He described how schools and districts can develop a program that is strategically focused, evidence based, and effectively coordinated to reduce health barriers to learning. This is the second webinar in REL Mid-Atlantic’s 2016 Educator Effectiveness Webinar Series. The content of these videos does not necessarily reflect the views or policies of the Institute of Education Sciences or the U.S. Department of Education, nor does mention of trade names, commercial products, or organizations imply endorsement by the U.S. Government.
