SAMHSA’s National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day 2017 event—“Partnering for Help and Hope”—took place on May 4. The event’s highly interactive talk show format focused on the importance of integrating behavioral health and primary care for children, youth, and young adults with mental and/or substance use disorders. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Thomas E. Price, presented Special Recognition Awards to Olympic medalists Michael Phelps and Allison Schmitt for speaking candidly about their experiences with mental health and working to support youth and young adults with similar experiences. Phelps and Schmitt served as Honorary Chairpersons of the event. Learn more at www.samhsa.gov/children.SAMHSA’s National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day 2017: “Partnering for Help and Hope”
