White House opens Obama/Biden lunch to still photographers

Don’t get too excited, but the White House has decided to allow still photographs of tomorrow’s weekly lunch between President Obama and Vice President Biden.

This is a rare move by the White House, which has certainly been less than transparent. Could it have something to do with former Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ new book, which is particularly critical of Biden?

In his memoir, Gates reportedly describes Biden as “wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.” Some shots of Obama and Biden together might shore up their image as united and actively engaged.

Exactly.

President, VP observe International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia

Is it a White House first? An evolved President Obama has issued a formal statement commemorating Saturday’s International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, or #IDAHOT.

Tomorrow, as we commemorate the 10th annual International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, we recommit ourselves to the fundamental belief that all people should be treated equally, that they should have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, and that no one should face violence or discrimination — no matter who they are or whom they love.

At a time when, tragically, we are seeing increased efforts to criminalize or oppress LGBT persons, we call on partners everywhere to join us in defending the equal rights of our LGBT brothers and sisters, and in ensuring they are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Vice President Joe Biden tweeted in observance himself, as did Valerie Jarrett.

In a true show of international effort, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon tweeted as well.

President Obama isn’t the only one to have evolved. The organizers of IDAHOT (formerly IDAHO) are considering updating their branding. “We are currently in our communications promoting May 17th as the ‘Global Day to Celebrate sexual and gender diversities,’ which we believe is the most inclusive formulation possible.”

Democrats agree (mostly): #ActOnClimate or children will die

http://twitter.com/#!/vickmichele/status/473457276020199425

President “Under my plan electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket” Obama announced his new “Clean Power Plant Standards” today, complete with graphics featuring faceless “Julia” type characters.

The Democrats began a full court press under the #ActOnClimate hashtag but for the most part they’re steering clear of climate alarmism because voters don’t really care about it. Instead the word has come down to convince people that children will die unless we adopt the standards put forth by President Obama.

So, in short, you are to believe that the people who just implemented a law that canceled millions of people’s health insurance are preparing to savage the coal industry in order to protect children with athsma.

It all goes to show that being a left wing Democrat requires one to be immune from embarrassment.

FACT: When Chris Van Hollen begins a statement with “FACT:” he’s almost certainly just making stuff up.

FACT: Chris Van Hollen has more EPA employees and contractors voting in his district than the vast majority of Congress.

“Carbon pollution” will probably be taking the place of  “greenhouse gas emissions” from here on out. (See also “global warming” –> “climate change” –> “climate disruption.”)

Yay. Bipartisanship or something.

Then there’s Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley like the little brother at the slumber party.

Hey guys, you acting on climate? I can act on climate too. Wanna see? I might run for president. Guys?

But look out! We’ve got a runner!
