Cory Booker’s communications director thrown under bus for Booker’s Bain comments?
Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s communication director resigned today. And Twitter smells something fishy. Her resignation comes in the wake of Mayor Booker’s Meet the Press appearance wherein he called the Presiden’ts attacks on Bain Capital “crap” and “nauseating.” Boy, did he step in it! Stepping out of Leftist formation is punishable and Mayor Booker swiftly made a hostage-style video to “clarify.” Dare to think for oneself? Does not suit. Mayor Booker made the horrible mistake of being honest.
#TheTruthHurts RT @MelissaTweets: So @CoryBooker press secretary resigns after Cory Booker told the truth? Ugh.

Seems like Anna Torres is being made a scapegoat for Cory Booker's MTP comments. http://t.co/NFoHb7ON
— PragmaticObotsUnite (@PragObots) May 29, 2012
Yep.
Backpedaling fails, as Anne Torres takes to Twitter to deny that her resignation had anything to do with the Meet the Press appearance and subsequent hostage video.
The rumors are ridiculous..it's not about MTP..come on folks.

The timing, however, is suspect.
If truly unrelated to appearance, why announce now? MT @AliahPR Comms Dir resigns in wake of Booker's Meet the Press http://t.co/O4GVjV6o

Cory Booker's press director is stepping down, days after Booker criticized the Obama campaign. http://t.co/GXxO4E3F

Convenient. More from The Wall Street Journal:
Torres said she was involved in helping the mayor prepare for the “Meet the Press” appearance and wouldn’t say if she was also tasked to aid in the YouTube response.
A Newark native, Torres was tapped as Newark’s communications director in 2010 after serving previously as Booker’s chief of staff and an executive assistant to the mayor.
But his Meet the Press appearance had nothing to do with it, huh? Move along, nothing to see here.
Whoa! @CoryBooker spokeswoman @AnneMTorres resigned today reportedly for his @meetthepress remarks http://t.co/Z5uTkrTh

.@AnneMTorres was a branding/comms expert, 5yr. Booker vet and victim of politics. But if you're in the market for a communication person 🙂

Politico has the following statements from Ms. Torres:
UPDATE: The Mayor’s office sends out the following statement from Torres:
Effective today, I am resigning from my position as Communications Director. It has been a pleasure to serve in this Administration for six years, and as a Newarker, there is no greater reward than to work for the city that you love. I’ve had the opportunity to work with an amazing team, and wish the Mayor the best.
Torres did not return a request for further comment.
UPDATE 2: Torres tells the Newark Star Ledger that she resigned because of “different views”:
“I just decided it is best if I pursued other opportunities,” Torres said by phone. “We have very different views on how communications should be run.”
If it wasn’t for the Meet the Press appearance itself, then it was the subsequent hostage video, television appearances and the slew of late-night tweets apologizing over and over.
Booker’s week in the limelight finally ended on Thursday with a series of late-night tweets in which he apologized for his “mistake.”
Twitter isn’t buying that there is no connection whatsoever.
I hope she's resigning because her boss caved to DNC pressure. http://t.co/WftCbyJb

What Would You Do If You Came Home To Find 102 Snakes In Your Basement?
Earlier this week, a family in Saskatchewan, Canada got the surprise of a lifetime when they came home to find their house invaded by snakes. Somehow, over 100 garter snakes found their way inside the family’s home.
The snakes were looking to escape the plunging temperatures outside and begin hibernating for the winter. I’m not sure I could think of a worse place for a snake to hibernate. I feel bad for the poor family.
At first, it looked like they just had a couple of garter snakes in their basement. Not really a big deal.
However, as they kept looking, they found more and more snakes. A few snakes even made it as far as the kitchen and the bedrooms. That’s when it was time to call in the professionals.
The family called up the local wildlife center. They sent a couple of people to investigate and round up the snakes.
In total, the folks from the wildlife center collected 102 snakes from the home. Here they all are together. Eck!
Garter snakes are among the most harmless type of snake out there. These garter snakes found their way into the family’s home looking for a place to hibernate for the winter.

Even though these are harmless snakes, this would freak me the heck out. I don’t want my house to be invaded by things that creep or crawl. No thank you.
Doctor grazed by bullet in office returns fire with own gun
Mercy-Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Penn., was on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a shooting incident which left one dead and two injured. The Associated Press reports:
A doctor grazed by gunfire from a patient who had entered his office in a suburban hospital’s psychiatric unit stopped him by returning fire with his own gun and injuring him, authorities said.
Investigators believe the doctor had his own gun and acted in self-defense, District Attorney Jack Whelan said.
The patient, who had psychiatric problems, opened fire after entering the doctor’s office with a caseworker Thursday afternoon, Whelan said. The caseworker was killed. The doctor appears to have suffered only a graze wound and was expected to be released from treatment later in the day.

Country star, good Samaritan: Craig Morgan aids victims of wreck [pics]
Singer/songwriter Craig Morgan is also a good Samaritan. He and his crew came to the aid of victims of a wreck on I-40 in Tennessee yesterday.
http://twitter.com/#!/CNNNewsource/status/343994945260097536 http://twitter.com/#!/WKRN/status/344034845506285568More from WKRN news:
Craig Morgan assisted emergency responders in an accident on Interstate 40 east just 30 miles outside of his hometown of Dickson.
Just after 11:15 a.m. two tractor-trailers and a tanker collided and ignited fire on the roadway.
Morgan and his crew ran to the scene to help extinguish fires and care for the drivers.
Thankfully, the drivers have reportedly suffered only minor injuries.
This wasn’t the first time Mr. Morgan rushed to help others.
http://twitter.com/#!/DawnDelvo/status/343954663541981186In 2011, the EMT-trained Army veteran rescued children from a burning home.
“I opened the door and the house was filled with smoke. There was a little two-year-old over in the corner with his face in the couch and when he saw me come in he got scared and took off running,” Morgan said. “But I snatched him up, then the older child, about six or seven, came out of the bedroom. I grabbed him and took them out to their mom.”
Twitter users are applauding him as a hero … and a superhero!
