1 John – Our Fellowship with God and with One Another

Trust me in my experience, a lot of people in the church world are very delusional. They think that simply coming into the building, that’s their salvation. Or simply because they know me, I’m somehow, their ticket to heaven. It doesn’t work like that. You’ve got to, it’s, that’s between you and God. This is not a church that has some intermediary here. You are given the goods; you’ve got to work it out. ♪ ♪ ♪ Okay, so today will be a little bit different type of message. Think of it more as a talk than a sermon. Even though the subject matter comes straight out of the Bible, you’d be surprised how many times I touch on a book or a verse, and whether or not people actually put this in writing or not, or whether it’s my perception, I sometimes get the idea that people think, “How could something penned at least minimally, 1900 years ago-plus, depending on which books you’re reading, be applicable and relevant in my life today? Aren’t these just antiquated old things?” And, the answer is, you couldn’t, you couldn’t be further away from the reality of trying, if you are looking for answers in life, these are timeless answers. Now, I’m going to be using the first epistle of John today, which, you know, it’s kind of a strange place for a message, and the message itself will be a little bit strange. So I’m giving you a heads-up. See, sometimes you read, for example, the first epistle of John, which I’m going to read in a second, and you can glean from just the introduction that John, the same John who wrote the Gospel of John, the same John who wrote the book of Revelation, is writing as an absent pastor. We don’t know where he is when he writes this. But what’s interesting about this writing: this opening kind of tells you in a roundabout way that he indeed was an eyewitness and is probably either speaking to eyewitnesses of his eyewitness, which means next generation, or one that is fully removed from even having contact with the risen Lord. And this is important for a reason. See, imagine, I’ll put it to you this way, imagine if we were the eyewitnesses to Christ in the disciples’ day. In our little circle, we would not be talking about things that other people would talk about. Why? Because we saw, we beheld, we have stories to tell. That second generation is listening to the stories. Maybe they may have been part of what Paul addressed as the better part of a group of 500 that were privy to see the risen Lord, maybe not. And then imagine where we are. We’re not eyewitnesses to eyewitnesses, but generations down now just hearers. The difference between the first generation and the third generation is big because by the third generation Christians, say, in the 90s, but before the year 100, apostasy and heresies had already crept into the church. You’re that close to the event, and heresies and apostasies have crept in. The reason why I say that is because we get baffled at seeing how far a certain church or a certain group has fallen out of the orbit of normality for a church. But you wouldn’t think that, say, only three generations or three removed from the source of Christ. So it’s important for us, several things are important. First at the top of the list is to read this book and recognize that there was deliberate intent in the way he opens it. Let me read a little bit, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled the Word of life,” referencing Christ, “(for the life was manifested, we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.” So let me stop right there. Telegraphed right at the beginning is the fact “we saw, we touched.” Now, it doesn’t say who the “we” is, okay? It’s just John writing, we don’t know who that other, either other individual or others are, but what’s important here is when you read this, the opening of this, it doesn’t reek of somebody who’s trying to write and tell a story like “Once upon a time,” or even the genealogies. It reeks of somebody who’s saying, “I was there. I saw. I touched. I beheld. I was with Him. Now, are you going to listen to me or not?” Right, it kind of has a little bit of that tone to it. So that’s number one. Number two, the impact, if you will, of believers; so let’s look at the first generation of believers that were around, immediately around Christ, and those disciples radically changed. Do you remember Christ’s word, “Follow me; I will make you fishers of men.” You’ve got the next generation, which we read of a couple of names here and there in the New Testament, they’re helpers to Paul, they’re certain folks that Peter might mention; we’ll call them the next generation of laborers. But imagine someone who was not an eyewitness and was not an eyewitness to the eyewitnesses reading this. How is the connection made to what is here on the pages? And that brings me to say all Scripture is given, inspired by the Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit helps the disciples to write all these writings. And embedded in here is a way of saying for us, for the church of Jesus Christ who is not direct eyewitnesses, and not even eyewitnesses to the eyewitnesses, but generations later, the instruction that’s in here is actually off the charts if we would listen to it.And it’s so simple. This is why I said, “Think of today more like a talk than a sermon,” because the instructions are so simple, but they can be missed very easily and they can be misunderstood (snap!) like that. So I want to, I want you to pay attention to something that is in here. The first phrase, if you will, occurs in verse 3, where it says, “That which we have seen and have declared; we’ve declared it unto you, ye also may,” and here are the words I want you to focus on, “have fellowship with us.” And then you’re going to read the same word again when I read down verses 6 and 7, “If we say we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and we do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as in; as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth from all sin.” So fellowship with us, fellowship with Him, and fellowship with one another, and I want to kind of camp out on this theme. That’s why I said, “Think of this more as a talk than a sermon,” because what I’ve found over the years is people will take liberty with words, specifically those that are in this Bible and may not carry the essence of modern language. So first things first, the word “fellowship” will be very familiar to this congregation if you’ve listened at any point, to this word and its cognates, derivatives of koinonia. And if you remember, I have spoken abundantly on this word koinonia. Probably the most famous one for this congregation is Galatians 6:6, “Let him or her that is taught in the word koinonia with the one who teaches him or her.” And that is “jointly share,” and “participate.” So the word can also be translated as “partaker,” “recipient,” or “sharer,” but there’s something important here. You see, “fellowship,” a lot of times in our blanket of English language, has more of a social connotation to it, okay. Fellowship, “Let’s get together and have fellowship,” right? But if we’re really using the word and understanding it aright, the only fellowship – we can have friends that aren’t Christian, but if you’re going to talk about this word within the confines of Scripture, you’re talking about the fact that we are having koinonia with one another, and that is not just social togetherness, but it’s one mindset in Christ that we’re able to get together and essentially share, enjoy, communicate, participate. So it has less to do with social understanding, social gathering, that type of stuff, and more to do with – the common thread to koinonia is God. Now you may say, “Could there be koinonia of other kinds?” Absolutely, but in this particular context, you can’t have this koinonia the way John is referring to it, without something happening to you and me from above that makes that possible. So specifically there’s something very specific being said here. Now let me add to this. The early church, by about the third generation, and we can trace this in ecclesiastical history, begins to have a boatload of heresies creep in. At the top of the list, Christ can, could not be God, could not be supreme deity, Christ could not be all human, and then the last one (these were the most prevalent), Christ could not be all-man and all-God simultaneously. So there were a lot of people that crept into the church to try and pervert Christianity or one’s faith in Christ. Now you tell me how that can’t be a relevant subject for today when most of the churches that you either are exposed to, social media, TV, or otherwise tend to now lean on every social justice – cater to, we’ll call it the small swath of society that is demanding that the church become something it was never intended to be.So if you don’t think heresies have already crept in, I mean, church history is pretty interesting. If you read church history long enough, you’re going to see that there is nothing new that has been invented in terms of heresy. It’s been all seen before; it’s been all done before. Let me go on now because the whole message kind of unfolds as you read through this. So verse 5, “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and we do not tell the truth.” Now you’re going to see this kind of repeated several times. “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” So there’s a starting point here. It’s kind of like tough, tough love, having to call something out so that people aren’t delusional about where they think they are in their walk. And that is probably the first big problem that he’s addressing. You’ve got to almost read between the lines because he says, “This is the message which we have heard of him, declare unto you, that God is light, in him there’s no darkness. So if we say we have fellowship with him,” we jointly participate, we share, we are partakers of Him “and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.” So the first thing I want to point out here in verse 6 is the necessity of being honest with self and that does not come easy. These are, I would say, easily missed, clear, distinct lessons in this book: we ought to not deceive ourselves. Now, what does walking in darkness mean for the believer? If Christ is light, it means you’re not walking with Him. Now we can walk in darkness in the respect of a valley or what we’d call some, something that eclipses us for a time, but not all the time.So the important thing that’s being said here is a lot of times I’ll hear people say – I’ve, I’ve said this now for many weeks on end, “I’m a good person. I do good things,” but that’s not what being a Christian is about. So let me backtrack a little bit. If we say we have fellowship with Him what does that fellowship mean? And again, stay away from the social ideology, and think about whether are you a partaker of Him. Being a partaker of Him begins with being a partaker in His word, and then you start looking at and you can, we’ll peel this apart as the message goes on, but you’ll see every dimension of Christ’s life is put in this book for us actually to share in, not just the work He did and we’re grateful recipients. Let me give you an idea. We’re told, for example, and you’ll hear me mention this again later in the message about fellowship in His sufferings. And you might think, “Well, that! I thought it was all going to be good for me, right? Isn’t that what being a Christian’s about, it’s all good?” No.Part of the trip is comprised of persecution, and suffering in valleys. It’s like the people say, “Well, how, how could this happen to me? Or how could this happen to this person, they’re, they’re, they’re such a God-fearing, God-loving person?” Well, first of all, let’s get this straight. The rain falls on the just and the unjust alike. But if we’re going to talk about fellowship with Him, it means that there isn’t anything at any time that we are engaged in or doing that He’s not aware of. Being; just, it’s a very subtle thing, being aware that He’s aware. That’s kind of the first place of fellowship because a lot of people think, “Well, I’m, I’m in church.I have my little compartments I go to,” but that’s not how it works. So when we talk about fellowship, fellowship with Him, let’s paint this as a diversity of different foci. They are not all positive. Some of them carry negative connotations, negative in the implication of suffering, persecution; those types of things. Now, how many here have suffered ridicule for their faith? Okay? Well, you are a partaker in a microcosm. You’re like a piece of sand in comparison to Christ and the mockery they made of Him, but that’s the concept I’m saying is that there is not just identification with the Lord, but I’m equally a partaker. Now, I could die on a cross a thousand times that wouldn’t save a squirrel, but all the things that I endure, as a Christian, make up that component of fellowship with Him in suffering, in, we’ll call it in the negative, if you will. So, the first thing we have to start looking at is, as I said, John writes, “Fellowship with us, fellowship with Him, and fellowship with one another,” and why these are integral to the health of the church, why these are integral to just the overall mindset. I want you to think of something. For example, when we talk about fellowship, we should equally think about the right use of the word communion; com, “with,” union, communion, “togetherness,” and “withness.” So, if you start kind of processing this, the fellowship concept, when I say “with us,” as John was writing, I want you to think that every time you open the book and are reading any of the writers, you are indeed having fellowship. If you want to say, you’re a partaker of words inspired by the Holy Spirit through John; there is fellowship right there. When you say, “Well, we can’t have fellowship with John; John is long gone,” you’re wrong. Every time I open this book and I’m reading, they are words inspired by the Holy Spirit, but they were written by John, I am sharing in John’s words that, again if you can get out of the social mindset and understand what fellowship means. You have fellowship with John, with Paul, with Peter every time you open the book because, you are sharing their words, yes, inspired through the Holy Spirit, but nevertheless. So, these all line up. Then if you look at the next one when it says, “We have fellowship with him,” I think I’m going to skip that one to come back because it’s quite lengthy. But “fellowship with one another” is quite suggestive. It suggests community. And this is the thing that, if I say one thing today, please hear this. We had people in this church some 30 years ago that thought their duty was to make little pockets of Bible studies and little things here and there; one person who seemingly had a very big ego thought that they – this is when Dr. Scott was still alive – thought that they should be pastoring and leading a group and, you know, I don’t know, lording it over the saints, maybe, who knows. But that’s not the fellowship I’m talking about. See, if you want to know the first book of Scott here, a lot of times people think, “Oh, we’ll get together for a Bible study,” and unless you have the discipline, whoever is orchestrating this Bible study, it’s going to turn into a social gathering. It’s going to turn into; sorry, I’m just going to say it, it’s going to turn into a BS session, okay? Everybody talks about what they ate, what they cooked, what their kids did, how bad things are, what medications they take, and less gospel, less Bible teaching, and more gossiping and social, socializing, okay? I’m not against people socializing. I’m saying, that if you’re going to do something for Christ and God’s sake, you better understand what you’re doing. And that’s why I said to you, even me, taking up 10 minutes at the beginning of a message to deliver a message before the message, I don’t even like that; it teeters on – I’m sharing things with you to answer questions, but even that’s kind of like, eh, I’m not sure about that, okay? But this one I am sure about.Fellowship with one another is a community, but it is not the community as in social gatherings, “Let’s grab a cup of coffee. Let’s sit down and cut the, shoot the breeze, all right?” (Laughter.) It’s not that type of stuff. Yeah, I know. It’s difficult. I’m struggling today, folks. I am struggling today. I just want you to know that. But think about this from the same writer, and I’ve quoted this before. Remember what John says, it’s Jesus’ words, when they ask, “Well, how will we know, how will people know that we are Your disciples?” He says, “Because you have love for one another.” So, and we’re not talking about Phileo, “I do for you, you do for me.” We’re talking about agape that comes from God, that has no strings attached, “Hey, I got your back. You don’t need to repay me.” Whatever, your issue is, think of it that way. So, if you bring this concept together with what fellowship with both Him and with one another means, there has to be a common center point, and that is everything that flows from Christ to us.We all may have different gifts, as Paul describes in Corinthians, but we all have this singular thing which is called faith in Christ, trusting Christ, and understanding His finished work. So when we talk about fellowship, there’s some other component I have to bring in here before I can move on in the book, and that is we are connected: Father, Son, through the Spirit. So when we talk about fellowship, you can’t go, “Yeah, we’re having a get-together. Let’s do a fellowship.” We’re talking about the same way that God is, Father, Son, Spirit. When we gather, we are the complement of one another in the body of Christ, not as a social, get-together, or whatever you want to call that, but as fathers who are connected. You know how remarkable it is when I meet people and they’ll say, “Did you know so-and-so’s sick?” or “We’re praying for them,” or “Let’s get together and pray for them,” or “Let’s pray for them right now.” There you have your fellowship, your, your, your immediately thinking, “What can we do in the Spirit of God together?” And that will never produce fleshly ideas, fleshly works, things of that nature. So remember, I told you, it’s going to be a different type of message because these instructions fortify. They’re so simple, but they fortify each listener and they fortify the church. Let me go back to something I said earlier about not being honest with myself. One of the worst, we’ll call it faith killers, is self-delusion. And you might say, “Well, how, how so? I don’t understand what you mean.” People who think they are above everything, people who think their faith is superior. I’ve met people like that. Have you met people like that? Their faith is superior. They attend the high holiness of whatever you whatchamacallit church. And they’ve been there for 50 years and they know every, every Bible verse that applies to you as nothing but a heathen vomited or something. And they’ll quote it to you too, all right? My point is, that if we say we have fellowship with one another, we are not delusional about ourselves. We are not deceiving ourselves. And I find, trust me in my experience, a lot of people in the church world are very delusional. So when we talk about this concept of fellowship, and there’s sharing in this, I’ve seen this many times even in this congregation. Somebody has been promoted. They’ve passed away, husband or wife, and people will come to the comfort, not come to socialize, come to the comfort of. That may be in the form of praying for the person without them even knowing it. That may be in the form of passing, saying a word to them, or sharing a Scripture with them. But it’s all rooted in Christ. It’s not rooted in social, “Hey, let’s grab a cup of coffee so you can feel better.” You can do that with anybody at any time. There’s nothing spiritual about that. So these are the things that I’m, I’m looking at and I’m focused on. Now, if we talk about, for example, comfort. Now we can comfort one another. We can understand the brotherhood of believers. I’ve said this before, When one hurts in the body, we all hurt. You know, too bad that that mindset hasn’t permeated to the degree that it should, because we would see the church be completely different. When you see somebody who’s suffering, yes, people call in prayer requests, We have teams of people that go in and they pray in the chapel. I read the messages, I pray, but I’m not talking about that type of togetherness. I’m talking about the togetherness that understands we are fighting a great foe on the outside. Now we can equally be destroyed from the inside if our faith isn’t strong, if our focus isn’t right. And this is what John actually; believe it or not, this is what he is making corrections for in this book. You might not think of it at first like this. Why? Because he goes from, for example, let me juxtapose them. We say, “We have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie, and we do not the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.” So remember I’ve even taught on this word for “cleansing,” which we get our English word for “authorized” from. So staying connected in Christ, you are constantly, if you say, being kept, washed, cleansed. And there is a juxtaposition between “walking in darkness, lying, do not the truth,” versus trusting Christ, “walking in His light and being cleansed.” Then he says, “If we say we have no sin,” and I’ve met those people too, “we deceive ourselves, the truth is not in us. But if we confess,” so he’s juxtaposing, “if you say you have no sin, you deceive yourselves, the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned,” listen to what he says: “If we say we have not sinned,” it doesn’t say we’re liars, it says, “we make him a liar.” Now I want you to think about that for a second because God knows us. He knows our heart. He knows where we’ve been. So anybody that comes into this universe and says, “Nope, not me,” when God’s word specifically; and sorry to tell you this, but not just from Paul, from Isaiah, over and over again, the concept of sin is very, very clear. I’ve quoted it before, you should know it by heart, Romans 3:23, no one can say otherwise: “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” If you look at it from Isaiah, “All we like sheep have gone astray. We’ve turned each one toward his way. And our righteousness is as filthy rags.” There is no ability here to wiggle out of this if you will. So the important thing is, understanding, you’ve heard the phrase during COVID, “We’re all in this together.” But this is one where it’s true. Why? Based on our Adamic container and then everything we do in our lifetime, we are all of us, me, you, everybody in this room, anyone in the sound of my voice, born in the state of sinning flesh and then the sins that you commit during your lifetime. So anybody that says, “No,” again, think of; going back to “fellowship.” The fellowship with Him puts the light on you that reveals all the dirt. Stand in that light long enough; that’s Christ’s light. We’re in the darkness. It’s all going to come out. But if you’ve never stood in that light, you can be delusional or you can stand in that light and turn around, be pharisaical, and say, “Not me.” So believe it or not, every part of what he’s saying comes back to fellowship. It’s either fellowship with him or fellowship with one another. And I love the fact that you keep reading and you can see exactly how it’s almost like it’s a problem, a solution. Keep reading, “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.” Here he goes again! Boy, Pastor John’s hung up on this “sin not” thing, right? “And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,” that word “advocate,” the Greek word parakletos, the same word we have, we use for the “Comforter,” the Holy Spirit.“We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins,” He is, the Greek word hilasmos, He is the “covering,” He is the removal, He is the washing, the cleansing; He does it all. So the question would be – and he says, “Not only for our sins but the sins of the whole world.” So the question would be, why would you not confess your sins if He’s faithful and just to forgive them? And you would not confess your sins to Him if you were a liar or if the truth wasn’t in you, because you’d recognize right away there is something called conviction that comes from the Holy Spirit that makes you, you on your own, our nature is not wired to come clean. The Holy Spirit has a way of bringing you under that conviction where you say, “I, I can’t take this for another minute. Bluh!” Right? Whatever that is, all right? So what we are looking at over and over again is the connection we have with Christ and with one another. And then he goes on to say, “Hereby we do know that we know him if we keep His commandments,” and he’s not talking about the law. “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in Him.” Again, do you notice a pattern? He, “he deceives himself,” he, “the truth is not in him,” here again, “the truth is not in him.” So keeping His commandments, you’ve got to think back a little bit to what John wrote in John 14, 15, and 16 because if you remember, the question is asked to Jesus, “Which are the greatest commandments of all? Which is the greatest commandment of all?” And He says, “To love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, with every fiber of your being, and” to what? “Love one another.” There you go.Here is the fellowship with God and the fellowship with fellowman. So if you think about it, these are the commandments. Now there are other things that Jesus said, “Do this until I return,” speaking of the table of the Lord. There are, there are things that He did spell out and say these are things that essentially, for the people who are following Him, this is what you do. But John specifically referring to, “Keep not his commandments,” is referring to the thing I just referenced. And he says, “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby we know that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” So again, sift it away. There’s a lot of words there. If you sift it enough, you’re going to see even the abiding principle, fellowship. It all comes back to, the union we have with God. Now if that fellowship is taken seriously, something else can happen, and that is the church, the church can always succumb to error. We’re humans touching the things of God.But if you think about it, what will keep the church on track? Let’s talk about it now. Let’s talk about people saying, “I think we should have a flag outside the church,” or, “I think we should have an emblem of this,” or, “We should be supporting that.” Now people who are keeping themselves in the love of God, which is what Jude said, “Keep yourselves in the love of God,” are constantly in communion with God, are going to look upon these things and say, “No.” “No, and hell no!” That is why I’m saying to you, you know, sometimes – I said this is more of a talk than a sermon – sometimes you need to just sift through the Scripture to see, “Wait a minute. There’s something already said that addresses this.” Pastors, including myself, we have one mission.See, I don’t know what’s wrong. I get letters from people saying, “Well, my pastor doesn’t teach the Bible anymore.” I don’t know what’s wrong with you. You were if you were called to teach out of this book, that is your calling. People are depending on you to feed them the word of God. There isn’t some choice. “Well, you know, it’s kind of boring now and I’ll, I’ll, I’ll choose to feed you with some other stuff like climate change.” Go chew on some ice, that’ll make you feel better. Here, look at it from a different direction. The prophet Amos asked the question, “Can two walk together except they are agreed?” And that is not like we understand, “We agree, we, we agree with each other,” but rather can two walk together except they agreed to have the mind of the Lord which comes from the fellowship we have with Him.That keeps the integrity of the church and the way, you surround yourself with like-minded people, which is very difficult to do, by the way, but if you do, you’ll find yourself, even if for a moment you are entertained or drifted somewhere, you’ll find that those are the people that might give you the good nudge to remind you of your fellowship with one another which is in Christ. So there are all these, what I’d call very good reasons to read this book with a different set of eyes because you begin to see how easy it is. If you keep reading, verse 7, “Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye have heard, which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.” Again, there are all these juxtapositions, light and darkness, sin, confessing sin. So when he says here, “hateth his brother,” and “He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because the darkness hath blindeth his eyes.” So very interesting again and again, what happens in churches? You get people that come in, and people tend to do this, people gossip.People like to gossip. If they’re not gossiping, they like to criticize. Now imagine being on my end of things, see, I’ve got all these eyeballs looking at me, imagine being on my end of things, okay? That’s why I said I like to refer to the one-room classroom because imagine that people are sitting right in front of me right now saying, “How is this going to apply to me? , I came here needing healing. I need to be healed.” You’ve got other people saying, “I wonder when she’s going to start teaching with languages because I miss that. That’s more complex and that’s more, you know, high intellect.” But tell you what, maybe some of the church problems; not just in this church, but every church, are at the most basic fundamental level. They are not nestled in complexity. They are not nestled in great oratory skills. The problem with a lot of churches is people get bored or they start getting ideas of what the church should be, and how it ought to function, and they fall out of fellowship, both with me. Let me do this in a better order. With God first, they think they’re still in fellowship with God. I always said, “You know, if you think you can do better than me week in and week out, please write your name, your address, and your information and mail it in. And until then, keep your mouth shut,” because if you have to assume the responsibility that I have to assume, imagine having a restaurant where you’ve got to cater to hundreds of different taste buds, and some people like it spicy and some people like it salty, and some people don’t like salt at all.Now you’ve got all these minute details here, and there’s always somebody that has to be unhappy about something, right? My point is, if we have fellowship with Him and with one another in the truest sense, we find those simple truths and we apply them. And we start looking at ourselves. Instead of looking at the person back there, “Ah-ah,” we look at ourselves. Now that is the job of the Holy Spirit to help us to see ourselves aright, but you begin to see where things may not be as balanced in terms of fellowship. We may be leaning more on the flesh, and we talk about fellowship, it may be more friendship, but that’s not what I’m discussing today, and that’s and that’s not what will keep the church of Jesus Christ strong. Fellowship with Him, prayer I think I’ve kind of touched on that. Prayer is one of those where we get to – think about it this way. You’re sending your words up to Him. You’re also partaking. You’re partaking of His strength. You are partaking of His word, His will, His way. So it’s like putting this all together and for somebody who says, “Well, I, that’s not me, I’m too messed up.” Well, then go back to where it says, “If you confess your sins,” and please don’t do this whole, “Well, I read the book of James and James says we should talk to one another.” It’s very clear; James is the only person in the whole Bible that says that.Everybody else says, “Talk to God; don’t talk to me.” Talk to God. I’m to tell you don’t talk to me; talk to God about it. He’s the only one that can fix your problems. You, you can have my ear, and I can pray for you, but the problems that you need to be fixed require fellowship with Him. That’s pretty simple. Now I’m not talking about sickness, prayer, prayer requests, and things like that, but for the most part, what people tend to do. And when we are not honest with ourselves, and just hear me out, you read the opening of Romans, the first at least two chapters, people when they read that, some people will recoil. They say, “Oh, that’s, that’s just.. . .” But the reality is Paul was laying it out just as clearly as John is that sin is a, it’s in our blueprint. And if you think about Romans 7, “What I want to do I find myself not doing,” and visa versa, the idea is we are in a constant battle till the end over sin. You’re not going to go and sin no more, but you can be in fellowship with God and working it out and wrestling it out or fellowship with one another. That is, if I have agape for my brother or my sister, I’m able to say, “I’m sorry, you’re talking to me about adding a letter. We should have more inclusive. . .” I’m using that as an example, “but the Word already says all are welcome. Why do we need to do this?” That would be someone who’s got the mind of the Lord, who is in fellowship, not in maliciousness. And that’s why I said to you, if we understand this, this little book was written in the face of people coming in, penetrating the church and making all types of professions about things that were a lie and John called it exactly what it was. People who came in with the intent to make derision between parishioners, people who came in with the intent to make misleading statements that people might believe to lure them away and out of the church.Tell me that’s not what goes on or what’s going on in America. You see a lot of that. You may see a lot of people who seem to be worshiping together, but most pastors don’t want to talk about this because this requires some instruction. And the instruction is not; see, typical pastoral speech might be, “Everybody needs to get along.” That’s not what I’m saying. Everybody needs to be connected to Christ as Christians. You follow me as I follow Christ, you are in fellowship with one another, you’re in fellowship with Him, and the body can stay strong. It’s not going to be affected by what the world, the flesh, and the devil’s trying to put on it.So think about this. The other thing I want to talk, talk about here is John is emphasizing to his flock that we serve a God who forgives. Over and over he says, “If you say you have no sin,” and so forth. So what was going on here, wherever John is writing, that would make him repeatedly – there’s, there is a repetition here. The repetition is “we’re walking in the light, we’re no more in darkness, but if you say that you’re, you’re having fellowship with Him and you’re in, you’re in walking in darkness, you’re a liar, the truth isn’t in you. If you say thus and so; but the blood cleanses you,” and then he says, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, the truth is – but if we confess our sins,” so each one of these says the plague that hit this church was undoubtedly people coming in and usurping, being dishonest about the structure of the church, who Christ is, maybe even who John is, or the relation to one another.A church like that cannot stand. That’s not how the church overcomes. The church will always overcome when we stay connected and you lose that connection, the minute that connection is gone, the church is going to die. Period. Now if you keep going because he says some pretty good stuff here. If you keep going, “He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is darkness; is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” Now what’s interesting is that each of these sections is juxtaposed, good and bad, or problem and solution. It goes on to say, “I write unto you, little children because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake. I write unto you, fathers because you have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men because ye have overcome the wicked one.I write unto you little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.” Think the whole time he’s talking, he’s trying to say, “These people stayed connected.” The rest of the people, usurpers or otherwise, I believe this is why he goes on to say, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” And that’s not saying that you can’t enjoy, but what you put first, what is the first preference on your list? And it comes back to being connected in fellowship with God.That will keep everything in balance. You know, the people that say, “Well, I just didn’t have time, to pray,” or, “I don’t have time to read.” You may want to make time. That’s how you’re going to, some, for some people, that’s how you’re going to stay in fellowship. For other people, I can tell you, they have what I call battlefield religion, which is they’re only in fellowship with God when the stuff’s hitting the fan when they need God.Otherwise, God’s an afterthought. When everything’s good, when the blessings come, there’s no going back and saying, “Lord, what did I do to deserve this, but thank You.” And again, it comes back to that connection in fellowship. And he says, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life, is not of the Father, but it is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.” So now, let me ask you this question. If we are talking about this you want it from somebody else. Paul says in Ephesians 5, “We’re not to have fellowship with darkness.” Again, that’s the other side of that equation. So partaking with God can go a long way and be very spread out. As I said, if you’re going to look at what is the main problem in churches today, and I’m telling you, not that I’ve been to every church in America, but I can tell you it’s complacency. And the first complacency is not about the doing of things, it’s complacency in staying connected. That connection provides the spillover connection to one another. That fellowship connection I’m going to say it like this, it keeps you in check, and it keeps the church in check. When I say tough times are ahead, tough times are coming. There’s no doubt. How they will affect every one of us, I have no idea. And the only thing I can tell you is there are certain staples that if you adhere or abide by them, no matter what’s going on, no matter what, things in your universe around you may change, but this container here and all that’s within it will not be moved. And that is staying with that proper mindset. Now, John wrote to these people if you’re reading right, there was some type of tumult in the congregation. As I said, there were heresies and there was apostasy. What’s different than today? We’ve got all that stuff running rampant everywhere, and people that think that we should change the word of God, we should rewrite the Bible, we should remove the pronouns, we should, and just keep going. But the fact of the matter is for, at least, let’s talk about beyond the New Testament, 2,000 or 3,000 years, however long the entire book encompasses, no one has had a problem up until this recent time. Oh, there have been periodic groups here and there, but no one’s had a problem with being included or not included, and it used to be you’re either in the church of Jesus Christ or you’re not. It was, those were the choices. Now it’s like, “Well, let me decide, is my church inclusive enough and does my pastor wear enough colors, you know? Because that’s important. You have to, you have to look the part, right, to be inclusive. You’ve got to wear all the colors. And does the outside of the building say that announcement, you know, with all the colors on it too?” See, these are the things that in my mind are what have destroyed or are in the process of destroying the church in America, lack of the word of God, lack of the teaching of the word of God, and substitute that for entertainment and social issues. And then if you’re in an even Bible-based church, the lack of being connected with God and through that connection with one another, which keeps everything, I’m sorry to say it keeps everything in alignment. It keeps a brother or a sister in check. It keeps people from becoming judgmental, and critical. When you think about it, you’re able to put yourself in that other person’s shoes. You’re able to look at them with empathy, with compassion, with understanding. That all encompasses the word agape, to love one another, and that cannot happen because you will it to. The, we’ll call it the development of the brotherhood or the sisterhood within the body of Christ isn’t something that you work on. It’s something that when God places a new heart in you and a new mindset in you, you’re looking at people, the people that previously would have gone, “Oh God, get me out of here. I don’t want to see that person.” You’re now looking at them, you have compassion, you want to inquire that they’re okay and how they’re doing in the Lord. And these are the things that I’m talking about. This is what John was writing about. And it’s, I think it’s very important to understand something else. If you keep reading, he talks about, for example, eternal life. He talks about what, what’s separates a believer from a nonbeliever if you want to call it that. And then essentially, we’ll call it the miscellaneous part when he says, “Try the spirits.” A lot was going on here, and I think if you reread this book with the mindset, the modern mindset of being buffeted from every side, you recognize that sifting this away comes down to two things, and I keep repeating them, but there they are the fellowship that we have with Him and the fellowship that we have with one another. And with Him, we’re in the word. We’re able to see the errors. Now my job is not to go into somebody else’s universe of responsibility in some other church and point out their flaws or their errors. But if you are in the word, and if the word is guiding you, and if the word is a lamp under your feet, then you’re not walking in darkness, and you’re able to see all that is not or what is being perverted or what’s being omitted. And you’re able to take that and recognize – first place I have to focus on if these things are happening in my sphere is I need; I’m sorry, this is one time where I’m going to say it, I’ve got to look out for me and I’ve got to make sure I’m connected to God. You are to examine yourself to see that you’re in the faith. And if that faith connection is there, then you’re recognizing the, we’ll call it the straight-stick mindset that says, “I don’t – I’m not interested in all the crooked sticks. I’m not interested in the gimmicks. I don’t need entertainment.” We can go home for goodness’ sake. If you want entertainment, if you want music for an hour, go home and blast the music, your liking, your preference, your choice; not mine, because I’m not there, okay? But this is probably the most important, as simple as this is, it’s probably the most important, we’ll call it pastoral talk to ensure that as things change and as things maybe go a little bit strange in this land we call America and even within what I call the attacks upon the church, it’s important to recognize the body of believers that we are.And it doesn’t mean that I want to spend every waking hour with some of my brothers or sisters, not; that’s not the type of fellowship I’m talking about. But I am talking about staying connected to Him. And I guarantee you something, a reading, a rereading of 1 John will tell you something, this aged pastor was concerned for his congregation and the things that they were experiencing are not too different than the things that we are going through right now. When you think about that, it means, I’m going to take comfort in going back and rereading this book. Just in the first two chapters alone, there’s enough solid stuff, stuff there to say, “Okay, and even if you miss my main point, there’s a secondary point here.” Why is he talking so much about if a person sins, if a person sins? Do you think maybe they had lost their way in doctrine? That’s the other thing that happens when we get out of fellowship with God and with one another, we also get bent and warped out of doctrine. And it is the doctrine, sound doctrine that paves the way for us to walk. So all of these things tied together become an important component of keeping the body of Christ. It’s His church. He didn’t say, “I put you here and I leave you, I leave you to do whatever you want.” We still have a book to follow, a guide, if you will, through the Spirit and the Word. And through the Spirit and the Word are going to be the guide for this church, either until God takes me home or until Jesus comes. So for somebody here who came and said, “Well, you know, I was hoping that you might talk about something a little bit more complex.” This is probably one of the more complex subjects cloaked in very great simplicity: how to keep the church strong, united, and carefully and methodically.I’m not trying, to live your life for you, but I am trying to tell you, these are things that happened in 90, in the year 90, or somewhere between 90 and 100. What makes us think that we can navigate something better in the year 2023? Same problems, because the same problems exist today as they did back then, if not more convoluted. Just think of it that way. They might have been dealing with a handful of crazy people; we’ve got a whole nation of them, right? (Laughter.) So with that being said, I pray that you take this and don’t take this as something just to kind of, “Okay, I, I park that.” I want you to think about this because it is indeed the thing that will keep the church anchored, no matter what happens here, your connection with Him, your fellowship with Him, your partaking with Him in joy, in sorrow, in suffering; everything that you could think of, and then the fellowship with one another, which I call that the balancing act. You’re not to be someone else’s judge or someone else’s ruler, but we balance things out and we keep things focused on Him.That’s the recipe, at least right now I’m telling you, that’s the recipe to keep us strong, fortified, and a united body in Jesus’ name. Christ in Ezekiel’s Temple – The Tabernacles Through the Eyes of Christ #22

Sometimes standing for what’s right will lead to your certain demise. But in God’s book, standing for what’s right, especially standing on God’s word, one ought to not be afraid and not have anxiety and not worry because God knows what’s in the heart of those who stand firm on His word. And His word has a definitive promise: Do not worry about what they can do to the body, but what they can do to the soul. You bend a little bit for the world, you bend a little bit for Satan, you just move a little bit sideways for the flesh, or you stay the course. And sometimes staying the course, just as a footnote, can be lonely. People can ostracize you or kind of put you in the camp of “there’s something wrong with you,” because you’re marching to what they think is your drumbeat, they, not recognizing that you are walking according to this word. ♪ ♪ So after 21 messages on the shadows and types of Christ and the Tabernacle, its furnishings, the set times, the offerings, and so forth, I sat kind of reflecting on those messages. And as I began preparing for today, earlier in the week, I realized something. I’ve got to do one more message. If you missed the other messages, please, at your leisure, go back and they’re, they are replaying on the network. So at least this will give you some comfort. You’re coming in at the tail end, which is always the worst, but you can always go back and revisit all the other messages. All right, so a little backdrop before we get into the message. In the twentieth chapter of the book of Revelation, we read, and in multiple places; don’t, don’t turn there just yet, we read about Christ’s triumphant return. We are told that at this particular time, Satan will be bound for a thousand years, cast into the bottomless pit, and that means for the duration of the kingdom. And we’re talking about a thousand years. So bear with me, because there’s a lot of confusion on this too, but during those thousand years, Satan’s power to deceive, to pervert, to lure the saints into temptation and whatnot, will become null and void for those thousand years.Following this time, the saints who refused to take the mark of the beast and were martyred during the tribulation; tribulation, the Great Tribulation, will be resurrected. So the period, the tribulation, the Great Tribulation is mentioned at least five times in the area that I’m kind of looking at in Revelation, but don’t think it ends there. What I’d like to call these thousand years is the first installment of eternity, kind of, we’ll call it the foretaste because a thousand years come to an end, and then other events take place. So we’re looking at this particular, we’ll call it a swath of time for a particular reason. And also, if people are confused about this, a promise was given to King David that a descendant, remember from that line, would sit on the throne forever. And God will make good on that when Christ returns. He is of that line, essentially. So we have this kind of coming together, we’ll call them biblical meshing’s of verses that just kind of mold together and you see everything kind of take shape. After that period, they will be what we call new heavens and new earth, the re-creation period. And we will have all the saints from all ages; past biblical, like the references made to Daniel. Let’s, just for people who are not familiar, I want to make sure that people go, “I don’t know, I’m not familiar with that,” just in case, it’s always good to have references where people can see things with their own eyes. In the twelfth chapter of Daniel, which is about the future, there are several references here that say that Daniel and those with him shall be resurrected during that period. And if you read it plainly; we’re using the King James Bible. If, if you read the Hebrew Bible, it’s even more staggering. It’s even more clear. But this particular section says, “At that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince, which standeth for the children of thy people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” If you keep reading, you’ll see several things are said to till the time of the end.For example, verse 13, says, “But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of days.” Essentially, “You’ll die, Daniel, you’ll go to sleep, and you will resurrect.” So there is that promise. The whole twelfth chapter is extremely powerful if you’re thinking about how this could have been written by someone who was in captivity, not knowing the time ahead, so God gave this word as a future prophecy that many who are asleep in the dust of the ground shall rise to everlasting life. And so at your leisure, if you want to read this; I don’t want to take up too much time, but there’s clarity here talking about when we read “a time of trouble” or “the day of the LORD,” these are all pointing to that period I’m; a precursor to that period that I’m referring to. There’s also a mention in Revelation 20, verse 4, of those that die during the tribulation who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus, who didn’t worship the beast nor his image. It says that they will come to life and reign with Christ for a thousand years. John calls this the first resurrection. Let me stop there. I want you to think about something and identify with something because it’s very easy. You know, we live in a world that it’s, everything is changing so quickly. It’s very easy to lose focus on what matters. And I think for these people that didn’t take, didn’t worship the beast or his image or didn’t; these paid a price. But notice that they are mentioned here. They are memorialized here; a future time by the way. So sometimes, I have to say it like this, standing for what’s right will lead to your certain demise. A lot of times you’ll get people who just, maybe don’t even say something to you, to your face. They don’t have the courage or they’re hypocrites. But the reality is, people want you to go with the flow. Now, I, for one, have never been one to go with the flow and that, I’m sure has cost me at times, but I’m counting the cost for Christ’s sake, not for anyone else’s. So, you might say, “Well, you know if that’s such a lonely path, why would you go that way?” Because I’m not alone and it’s not lonely; Christ is always with me. And when I stand for what’s right, just like these people stood for what’s right, they did not succumb. “Well, what about the consequences? What about the pressure? What about “we all have choices to make. And I’m not going to tell you what choice to make. I’m just going to tell you, there’s an expression, “Those that stay by the stuff get the goods.” And in God’s book that means those that stay by God’s word, God stays by them. So, you know, don’t, don’t ever think that there’s not an immediate application in the here and now, because I look at these folks that didn’t worship, didn’t bow down, didn’t cater, and there’s many in the Bible, even Daniel’s time.Look at Daniel. Daniel refused to do that. And his courage and his faith, I can say we need more Daniels. We need more Esthers. We need more people who say, “No matter what it looks like, I’m going to stay by the stuff, because that’s what God said.” It is to those people who will be faithful on that wise. So, just that was my little footnote there. There’s also a reference in 2 Timothy as well as 1 Corinthians that lets us know that the church-age saints will be resurrected at this time as well. And there is another group that is suggested. So several groups in succession are mentioned as redeemed and resurrected. But they are from all ages, including this age, and yet the age to come until God says, “It’s time.” This group will be made up, interestingly enough, of both Jews and Gentiles. And like it says in Matthew 25, where Jesus speaks and says, “Come, you who are blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” So, you know, it’s still going to be His choice of who gets, who gets in, all right? The prophet Isaiah says that the people will turn their weapons of war into plowshares and pruning hooks.Essentially, the weapons meant for protection will be turned into weapons or tools to grow and work the land. That’s a future time. You might say, isn’t that a little bit archaic? And especially right now, if you look at many governments are banning agricultural land and banning growing food. I don’t know how you can survive if you don’t grow food, but that’s a story for another day unless you’re eating bugs. “Yummy, I’d like another serving please.” Yes. The prophet Isaiah speaks of our Lord as the Prince of Peace, and he says there will be no end to the increase of His government or peace. That’s Isaiah 9:7. This encompasses both people and the animal kingdom. Now there’s another point that I want to make during this period which commences, this thousand-year period which commences, as I said, it’s, we’ll call it the first deposit of eternity without the new heavens and new earth yet to come.No more sickness, no more death, no more dying, the eyes of the blind you know, you start thinking about the impossible-ness of this all the eyes of the blind being able to see, the deaf being able to hear, those who are crippled can be made whole. And it’s, I mean, it’s almost like a fantasy land that sounds too good to be true where everyone is in perfect health. But that is the picture that we are given during this time. Now, I don’t know about you, but you know, I get to read a lot of prayer requests, especially of the saints in this church of people who are battling cancer. And it, that’s always the thought that comes to my mind, is that that day will be so amazing when every human who is in that millennial kingdom, there will be no cancer, there will be no sickness; there won’t be any of the things we suffer now.And it almost makes you think, you know, this is the mindset that a Christian should have, especially in these times: “I’m prepared for whatever comes my way. I know whom I’m going to be with. I know where I’m going,” so what a joyous day when I don’t have to think about cancer ever again when you don’t have to think about a heart condition or crippling pain in your body. What a day that’s going to be. I mean, you know, it’s, it can just make the statement, but it’s still kind of mind-boggling to know that the person to your left and your right will be perfectly healed. That’s pretty amazing. Now why am I telling you all this? Because I felt it important to bring this particular timeframe into, we’ll call it all of these messages that dealt with the Tabernacle and also subsequently the temple. Because on that day, as I’m referring to, it says, “Behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst.” That’s from Zechariah speaking about our Lord.Christ’s kingdom will be one of peace, one of joy, and all who are in the kingdom of God; this is the kicker; we will all get to see Him. I mean, okay, you’ve read that before, but when you say it out of your mouth, like, I’m looking at you, that’s how you’re going to see Christ. It’s kind of like, you know, the person that we’ve, we’ve worshiped, that we’ve spoken about, that I’ve preached on. But still, we only know Him from the pictures of artist renderings or from descriptions, the few that are in this book. But seeing Him face to face kind of, it blows my mind. But that is what we are promised during that time. So if you remember what I said during all these messages, the epicenter of all this is going to be Jerusalem. And this is why when people say, “I don’t get it. What’s, what’s the deal? Why is there all this warring over that land and that little, it’s just “look at the map. It’s just a little spot on the map.Why all of this back and forth? Because that’s the place that God said, “Jerusalem, the foundation of peace,” that is the place that God said, “I am going to establish where all nations will flow into.” The place that God chose, that David, we’ll call it, this, we’ll say it this way, that David “founded,” but God led him to that, will once again be the epicenter of all worship. Zechariah says in those days “the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts; I will go also. Many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem.” So, for all of you out there who just cannot understand what the deal with Israel is, some people are tired of hearing about it, and some people pray for Israel.Just know this; it is going to be the epicenter of the last chapter on Earth. And it will be, again, once there are new heavens, new earth, it will be the epicenter once more, but in a different way, completely. Now, all of that is the backdrop for a purpose. We’ve been going through, as I said, the tabernacle and temple. And so it’s important to look at the last temple because that makes it the last chapter. And why this is important, if you remember I started out and throughout all these messages I said, “Everything points to and is a shadow and type of Christ” Remember, the exterior of the tabernacle, the furnishings inside, I described the metals or the, the materials used, the colors; it all points to shadow and type of our Lord and Savior so clear that when you go back to read it, you can’t, you can never read it the same way ever again. And what I found was that when you get to read what Ezekiel defines as the last temple, eight items are missing that were previously; now, I want to make sure that people understand this. The Tabernacle was the transportable worship center for Israel as they wandered through the desert for 40 years. And then once a period, we’ll say David probably labored to keep things as they were until Solomon, David’s son, has the revelation that he should build a permanent house for God which becomes Solomon’s temple. You’ve got the temple that will be quasi-rebuilt when the people come back from captivity. And then you’ve got Herod’s temple. Think of it, it’s all the same place more or less. Some parts of Herod’s temple are slightly changed. And obviously, we have the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D., and then we have this revelation of the last temple in Ezekiel. So eight items are missing. I’m going to itemize this. I’ll just tell you what they are and then I, I’ll give you the information on each one of them: the wall of partition, the court of the women, the laver, the lampstand, the table of showbread, the altar of incense, the veil, and the Ark of the Covenant. Those are the items that are missing in Ezekiel’s temple. That’s future time. And one other thing, the altar itself, the altar of sacrifice, undergoes some changes and they are substantial. And one of them is like, wow, okay. So, the wall of partition, which would have been a part of the temple in its day, was a low, four-foot wall that traversed the inner court separating the inner and outer court. The wall prevented Gentiles from passing what was the entrance into the inner court. So it’s a low, short wall and several gates that gave access to this area. There was signage posted written in Latin and Greek, so that tells you it’s at a little bit later time, that was a warning against people who were not allowed to enter and the consequences of breaching that area. The sign basically, the gist of it is that no foreigner may enter. Anyone caught doing so would most likely face death. Welcome. You’re all welcome, right? So, the apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:14 says that the wall of partition was torn down all this kind of gives flavor and new meaning to things placing all believers together with no separation and adding to it something that many scholars find interesting. Jesus says He has other sheep. I remember having this discussion with a good friend of mine who is an imam and he asked me if I thought the other sheep could be people of another faith. And I’m going to tell you, other sheep means other sheep. And that could be other sheep from anywhere else, just not the ones that He’s come to take hold of or take care of in the now. So, the other sheep could be. I’m not going to speculate and see who they are, but, in Jesus’ own words, there are other people outside of the people He’s chosen that He’s going to include. So, it’s kind of interesting because that wall of partition tells us a lot. That it’s missing from Ezekiel’s temple says that all who are present at that time will be welcome. No one will be kept out. So, think about that. That’s number one. The next one is the court of the women. This too is missing from the future temple in Ezekiel’s book. If you go, or if you’ve seen pictures, if you have the luxury to go to the Western or Wailing Wall, there is still a partition, although that partition is suggestive, and it is not the original partition whatsoever. But especially if you go to that site and many synagogues to this day separate the men and the women. Women have their area, usually in a two-story temple the women are upstairs, and the men are downstairs, however, you want to describe that. But what’s interesting is that the sexes were separated in worship.Just think about this. No court of the women, no; I just started with no foreigners allowed. All would be welcome. No distinction between; when I say that “distinction,” there will be no more separating men and women in God’s eyes. I think that’s more of a manmade scenario than anything else, especially when I look at the references to Christ. If He was so concerned, remember, He would have been steeped in understanding Jewish traditions and He didn’t seem too concerned to have women around Him, let alone the first one that encountered Him at the tomb at His Resurrection, Mary Magdalene. So, I’ll leave that with you. I’ve said enough about that. But that passage for our sake, there is no distinction between men and women here, especially within the temple of God. The next item that’s missing is the laver. Now the inner court would have had; would have been the place where one would have found the laver, which would have been a large basin filled with water, traditionally used by the priests to wash before proceeding to do their ministerial duties. We would no longer need the laver, future time.Remember, we’re talking about a future time and we’re talking about a time when Christ will be here on earth. This is very important. There is no need for the laver of cleansing anymore. Why? Because Jesus, by His mouth, says, “You are made clean by the word,” you’ve been washed by the word, and by His shed blood. So, you know, there’s even a Scripture in Titus that talks about the washing, regenerative washing. We are made whole and clean by that, Titus 3:5, I believe. So no more need for the laver and especially, think of it this way, if, if the Laver Himself is present, who needs a basin of water to wash their hands and feet in? I’ll leave that one, too. All right, I want to turn to Ezekiel 26 for just, or 36, I think, for just a second. And we can peruse something that Ezekiel says, which I think is of interest. Ezekiel 36, beginning at verse 24, because this will tell you exactly from the prophet, the Old Testament prophet talking. “For I will take you from among the heathen, gather you out of all countries, will bring you into your land. Then I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” So it’s kind of interesting, the cleansing, even if you want to do the interpretation by the Old Testament fashion, not even looking to Christ right away. There is a passage saying, “In future time, you will be cleansed.” But we know the cleansing occurs through the finished work of Christ. So the next one, the next item on our list is the golden lampstand. And I had previously taught on this, the menorah or the lampstand would have illuminated the holy place. Remember, we tend to take for granted electricity. There was none on that day, so they would have been in a dark room, save for the menorah illuminating the holy place. And of course, in the Holy of Holies, God’s Shekinah glory would, when His presence descended, would light up the rest of that room, the closed Holy of Holies.Isaiah refers to Messiah as the light of the nations. And he said, “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. Those who live in dark, in a dark land will see the light shine on them.” And in many of the messages past, I’ve referred to the glory of God as bright, radiant, sometimes being referred to in Scripture as fire, the presence of God, like the burning of the bush that burned but was not consumed; the presence of God, so when we think about the menorah, don’t necessarily think about the golden candlestick, but think about the light and the fire that it represents. Well, who needs the light and the fire when the Light will be present? That is Christ. He says, “I’m the light of the world.” And who needs the fire, the fire burning when the presence of God shall be with us? That’s why I said, all these things in the Old Testament reveal Christ; you cannot, sorry, you can’t ignore it. So I think probably one of these things I also mentioned to you previously was in the book of Ezekiel, we have a passage that kind of refers to Ezekiel seeing the glory of God incrementally, basically departing from the temple. And then in this vision that he receives, by the end of the book, the glory of God comes back. So, I want you to think about even that, because you can read it and you can either make it a caricature or you can make it a reality. The glory of God essentially left, and I think it left before the destruction of the temple. And I’ve mentioned this before, but for all this to come to pass, yes, God’s presence must return and it won’t be in a pillar of cloud or fire. It will be in the person of Jesus Christ. I equally find it interesting even in the book of Revelation, the opening passages you’ve got, which if you started reading it wouldn’t be clear at first, but you’ve got Christ in the middle of these seven candlesticks, and we’re talking about the churches of Asia Minor. It seems very clear to me that that symbolizes God’s presence, our Lord’s presence through the ages. And if you want to make the churches of Asia Minor church age through time, He has been present even in, we’ll call it the dark ages of the church He’s been present. But there will be a time where His presence will be with us, and that’s probably He’s with us now, but visually where we can look and see and behold Him. And as I said, that’s kind of mind-boggling. All right, the next one that’s missing is the table of showbread. Now this I taught on, this I covered. And if you remember, I told you that the bread put on that table, was twelve loaves, one for each of the tribes of Israel, and people tend to get this wrong. The bread was an offering from the people who gathered up the manna every single day or when they were prescribed to. So they were taking what God had given, making bread, and presenting it to God.So it was technically an offering from the people to the Lord, that table of showbread. So what’s missing? And I think this is also interesting because when we talk about the bread, we read in the New Testament, of course, and this is one where everyone should know, Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.” Why would we need a table with baked goods on it, representing twelve tribes when we have the actual Bread or the Manna from heaven Himself live and in our presence? Again, there are all of these things you have to take note of. The altar of incense is missing. And I said that, usually symbolic of prayers ascending. Now if you remember in Solomon’s temple, this altar stood before the veil in the holy place. And this, on this altar of incense was burned morning and evening incense. So why would we need an altar that represents our prayers ascending if the One we’re praying to is with us? See, this is why I love; this is why I love this type of teaching because you can be very dogmatic, “Oh, I don’t want to read the Old Testament.” Why would you do that? You’re robbing yourself of the riches of the revelation of Christ when you really can see it.And it’s almost like scales. You know, when we first start off studying the Bible, it’s a little bit confusing. We may not understand, but once you, you start putting these pieces together, how could you not look at the whole thing and say, “This was God’s plan all along” God didn’t change His mind or do something different. This was His plan all along that we will be with Him. Remember, I said last week, bookends; what was, in the beginning, shall be in the end. The tree that started it all will be the tree for the healing of the nations. And the presence of God that was with Adam and Eve in the garden, His presence was there, He was with them. He shall be with us, the resurrected saints. So it’s like, I don’t know, you can’t escape the beauty of what God has put forth for us.It’s just mind-boggling to me. The veil, missing. “Huh?” Yeah, not there; go ahead and try and find it in Ezekiel’s writing. It’s not there. That is what separated the holy place from the Holy of Holies. And this is another thing that I love. It should be self-evident, right? When our Lord was crucified on the cross and He died, we read that the temple veil was rent from top to bottom, not from bottom to top, from top to bottom. No human hands could have ascended to rend that veil. But why the veil? Because no one was allowed to go into the Holy of Holies except for the singular priest once who was allotted the time or times to go in, now no more.No more; we, we are no, we are no longer walled out of God’s holiness. I just think that’s pretty amazing. And then there’s one other thing I’d like to point out. When people talk about the temple and I address this, you know, the folks that say, “Well, there, no sacrifices are going on right now and there are no practices like the Old Testament for our Jewish friends.” And that’s correct. I want you to think of the veil this way. And know this is; please, I don’t mean to be blasphemous, but I want you to think of it this way.Have you ever owned a credit card? Got a credit card? And they send you a replacement? Now, before they issued special metal cards or whatever they are, they tell you, “Cut up your card. Cut the card up so that it’s null and void.” I want you to think of that veil being rendered from top to bottom as God’s way of saying, “I’m cutting up the old to usher in the new. I’m destroying that which was, for a reason, to usher in the new.” And keep that thought in your mind because that helps us to understand God was closing the door on the old dispensation. And the way that He did that was by, whoosh! rending that veil. So I think, again, God’s depiction is just unbelievable. Okay, Ark of the Covenant, which I think I have probably driven most of you crazy talking about, right? You just read the book of Revelation where it says, “I saw heaven open up.” There is the Ark, if you will. So the Ark is in heaven. It was always in heaven because that’s why God told Moses, “See to it that you build it exactly according to the pattern; don’t deviate.” Otherwise, it wouldn’t be matching. And I said to you previously the reason why that Ark of the Covenant; by the way, it, it’s not like they’re going to find it and put it into the last temple. Ezekiel says it’s not there. It’s madness. Go look for it. It’s madness. I get it. If you’re an archaeologist, you’re on a mission. You want to uncover, discover. You want to be the one a little bit like, you know, you want the notoriety maybe of a Howard Carter finding King Tut’s tomb and opening it up only to go, “Whoa,” and the whole world’s looking in. That’s great. But I’ve said to you, the reason why I don’t think that the Ark will ever be found, or if there is an Ark found, it’ll be a replica. There was at least one replica we know of made for certain. But the Ark itself, remember that Ark was not just a box containing the pot of manna, Aaron’s rod that budded overnight symbolizing the Resurrection, the pot of manna symbolizing Christ, and the two unbroken tables of stone which also symbolize only Christ could fulfill everything in the law contained in the Ark, which is basically, we’ll call it the heart of God or God’s presence. We would not, I would say to you, even if somebody says, “Oh, I found the Ark,” people would end up worshipping the Ark and not God.That’s what happened in Catholicism. You know, you find a sliver of hair, “This, this hair belonged to John.” And people bow down and venerate it. Well, why would you venerate that? I’m only interested in one thing pointing you to Christ, pointing you to worship, and getting Him to know why would I want to venerate somebody’s thumb. I don’t know. You tell me. You’re probably smarter than I am on that, okay? I’m not, I’m, okay, let’s leave that one alone. It doesn’t sound too good either. So, let me talk to you now about the altar, because the altar probably is, there’s such a unique scenario that plays out. This one, I think possibly, is a little, might be a little bit confusing for people who don’t know, but if you would study the temple, the temple would have had an altar that would have been accessed by the south. And it would have had some type of ramp; no stairs. Remember that God said no stairs. It would have had a ramp and accessed by the south. Ezekiel 43 and beginning at verse 17, there’s━I, you don’t need to understand the whole lot of it. You can read it your own time, but there’s something at the very end of that verse that tells you something very distinct. It says, “And his stairs,” Ezekiel 43:17, “and his stairs shall look towards the east.” That’s referring to the altar. There will be stairs, which weren’t━previously not allowed, and it will look towards the east. So, the access will not be from the south. Now, I’m going to tell you what I think. If Christ has His throne in the temple, that’s why you don’t need an Ark; He will be sitting on His throne, then the altar and the placement of the altar will be where He can see it, where He, from His perspective, if you were to actually look at the layout of the temple and just change the direction, it would be that He would be looking upon the altar and be able to see those ministering and worshiping at the altar. That’s kind of interesting, but there’s one more thing that’s interesting. Every reference in Hebrew, every single reference to an altar, altar specifically a tabernacle, or temple, the Hebrew word is mizbêach. Every occurrence, except for two references in Ezekiel 43:15 and 16, won’t see in English, but if you read Hebrew, I highly urge you to look it up. We’re not talking about the name, the nomenclature of the altar being mizbêach, but suddenly the altar is renamed something. The altar is called Ariel.Ariel means “Lion of God.” Remember I told you, everything in this book points to Christ. Christ is called “the Lion from the tribe of Judah.” He is the Lion of God. That altar is called the “Lion of God.” Now, I said, English doesn’t reveal that, but Hebrew does. And if you read Hebrew, even if you fumble through it or you’ve got some phonetic look it up, don’t take my word. It’s kind of mind-boggling. It blows my mind that right there tells you if there was a change. Now, if there was any doubt, somebody says, “Well, you know, you’re reading a lot into Scripture,” but I’m not. See, back, way back in Genesis when Jacob is blessing, Jacob who is Israel is blessing his children, which are the children of Israel. He pronounces a blessing on Judah. And he says, “The scepter shall not depart between his feet until Shiloh comes.” Shiloh is Christ. And then you read another part of that blessing which talks about a lion’s whelp, the lion that is crouching or crouched down. These are all pointing to Christ, “until Shiloh comes.” Again, if you start putting all these pieces together, you see there’s no error here. And when I say I speak with certainty on these interpretations, because the Bible, it’s not my opinion, the Bible backs it up. I said to you, if you can find repeated Scripture that repeats something, it becomes sound doctrine. So, when we talk about this period of what’s missing, eight items, I also think that’s equally interesting because eight is usually the number of resurrection, it’s also the number of fulfillment, and could also be the number of new beginnings. So, I find that fascinating. These eight items are missing; all the other items that would have been present in the former temple, Solomon’s or Herod’s will be present. The change of the direction of the altar and its name, which point to Christ, and then last but not least, we have something else to dissect here for a second: the location of the temple. Now, let’s talk about this in real-time. Everybody knows, or at least to some degree, we know the history of the occupation before Israel became a state in 1948. We know there were successive occupations that were not Jewish of origin; mostly Turk, Ottoman, and the Romans attempted, but everybody had, their try at it. And for a successive space of probably what would be well over a thousand years, I’m sure, don’t quote me on the timeline here, because I’m just kind of pulling it up like that; there was no temple and there were no Jewish people and there was a Jewish state. That all happened because of the Balfour Declaration. You’ve got to go back and kind of sort through the weeds of actually the why. And there’s a weird reason why Israel became a state in 1948 and not the one that we’re commonly told. Because it is important that that land basically, it’s like a page holder. God said, “I’m going to give you a place, and it’s going to become a page holder, like a stake in the ground that no one else can claim again until I’m ready to execute My plan. You will keep Me, My place until I say I’m taking it back to do what I need to do,” which is what I’m describing right now. So the glaring problem here is that most people talk about the Dome of the Rock and they say, “Well, how can the temple be erected if the Dome of the Rock, which is under Muslim control and no one is allowed?” So how do we solve this problem? Because people say, “Well, how, how is this going to come about?” Well, I want you to; I want to remind you of something. There will be geographical and topographical changes when Christ returns. So just, just think about this for a second. The reference in Zechariah 14 talks about the Mount of Olives being cleaved open east to west when Christ’s feet touch down. And you don’t think that that particular incident will not change the lay of the land but don’t think that’s the only change because another change’s mentioned. The other change that’s mentioned is that water will flow from underneath the temple eastward building up into a larger body that will eventually become a river that will make the Dead Sea alive again and the Dead Sea will have fish and vegetation in it once more. It’s not right now, of course. So there are plenty of changes and there are Scriptures that talk about how high mountains will be made low. So, you know, I think God’s, if God’s got all this solved here and He’s got it all laid out, I’m pretty sure that He’s able to handle the Dome of the Rock.Okay? I’m pretty sure about that. That seems like a very minor thing right there. There is one other thing I’d like to mention and I want to mention it to dispel something because I do go online and I look at a lot of what people say and there’s a lot of, a lot of lunacy out there. So one of the things that’s being propagated right now is the River Euphrates is essentially almost dried up. Okay? And our Bible talks about the angel in the book of Revelation, I think it’s Revelation 16.I just quoted it this morning to somebody. I’m pretty sure it’s Revelation 16. Yeah, Revelation 16 and verse 12, “The sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.” The River Euphrates is drying up right now. It is almost virtually dried up except for one curve in it that looks actually; it’s got a curve with two legs; it looks like an Omega, a Greek Omega.I don’t know if that’s a coincidence or not. But don’t be confused. It’s being dried up now is not the same as the event being spoken of here where the vial that is poured out is wrath and the events that come; this is the sixth angel, so there are five events prior that must happen that has not happened and they are sequential. So what’s interesting is you’ve got a lot of people online saying, “Oh, I see the River Euphrates is dried up and this is preparing the way.” No, it’s not. The only thing that it’s done, if you’re interested in archaeology, which you know I’m an archaeology nut, the only thing it’s done is it has revealed things that we could not find previously. And one of them is, okay; some of you will go, “Oh my God, she’s excited about this?” But it revealed, for example, the Mitanni Kingdom. If you remember when I was teaching on the Lost Tribes, I mentioned the Mitanni, but they’re like people who just basically vanished. Now that there’s been a sufficient amount of water that has dried up, they have found what is tantamount to the Mitanni Kingdom. They’ve also found traces of the Sumerian Kingdom, an Akkadian Kingdom. This was all underwater, and still yet underwater is a cemetery, very interesting. And so, you know, but I don’t want people to be confused. So I’m just putting this as a gratuitous footnote here. So that, if in case you do see things like this, you don’t get confused, other things must happen before. And God, by the way, is pretty organized in what He does. So it’s not like He says, “Okay, well, I think I’m going to start with number 5 over there and I’ll come back to number 1.” No, okay, very orderly, He does it in such a fashion. We’re reading His instructions. We’re reading Him, His map for the future, okay? So I don’t want people to think, “This is it.” Now, what is interesting, and I’m not going to lie to you, there has to be another event. What probably will happen is; now, bear with me, they’re saying that the water is drying up because of climate change. Yeah, whatever your opinion is, okay? I’m not going to go there, okay? It’s drying up because of climate change or because they’ve created so many dams. And if you look at the area, there’s a long; these people have fought over water rights for so long that certain countries started, we’ll call them the neighboring areas, Turkey is one, you’ve got Armenia on the other side, and then if you follow the Euphrates down, you have a lot of folks who want to divert the water, so there have been a lot of dams. There’s been a lot of water theft if you will; there’s a lot of parts to this. I don’t think there’s one singular explanation. But in any event, I can tell you, if that completely dries up, there’s a bigger problem on the horizon. Wrath has not yet been poured out and people are going to die of starvation because they depend on that for their crops. Remember, they’re in a very arid place. That’s, that has been the lifeline for those people. So, you know, until God says, “This is it,” and this time, the sixth angel, I do pray for those people who depend on that for, for life, as a source of life, that it be replenished because this is, this event I’m talking to you about is not correlated to the end here. But I tell you what, when it does dry up, I’m sure there’ll be water somehow again, but in the future, when it does dry up, this will be used almost like a tool to deceive people, to say, “Oh no, this isn’t the end, because that already happened before.” And people will just go, “Okay,” and move on.That’s what we do, right? We’re just conditioned to do that. So, what I want to tell you though is, geographically there will be a lot of changes, and topographically there will be a lot of changes. So when people talk about, and there’s all this talk about what will happen, what will happen, well, we at least know that there will be changes. And as I said, the things that, we grapple with in our human frame, God’s already got it. He knows what He’s doing. So, I’m going to leave that driving machine to Him and enjoy the ride, whatever that’s like. But I will tell you, the Israeli Department of Antiquities says, their claim, they say that the temple needs to be, the future temple needs to be right where the Dome of the Rock is. And I’m going to tell you something, I’m not sure. And I’ll tell you why. And this is just another footnote you can look this up for yourself. In the 1800s, the Palestine Exploration Fund sent tons of people to do different maps. And I have many of them in my possession. They were topographical maps. And there’s something a little bit off in how we understand the exact location. Do I believe that it’s close? Yes. It might be slightly to the north or slightly to the south. I’m not exactly sure that it’s smack dab right there, regardless, it’s in the general area. And what I’d like to tell you is, again, whether it’s north, south, or smack dab in the middle, God will take care of that and God will figure it out. And let me backtrack to one more thing. With regards to our Bible talking about what will happen, the Euphrates River at that time, there’s another mention of what will come up from underneath these, if you want to call them locust demons or whatever that comes out from underneath to attack.Well, interestingly enough, if you read the Qur’an, the Qur’an talks about the Euphrates River drying up. And what will be uncovered, according to the Qur’an, is there will be gold that will be found. Well, listen, you know, a fool’s gold is, is wonderful. But what is crazy is that there are pools in the distance, we’ll call them tributaries of the Euphrates that have been gold laden. They found a lot of gold. But I’m going to go with my Bible which was dictated from God’s heart, Spirit, and mind to the mouth and pen of John. And I’m going to stick with what’s in the Bible because I believe what will come out of that river is exactly what God said. It will prepare the way for a conglomerate if you want to call it Russia, China, China alone, Russia, China, or any combination to march through that land. And you can find those critical passages in Ezekiel. But anyway, so it’s important to just understand, sometimes you hear things and it’s not what you think it is.So beware. No one knows the day or the hour. We are supposed to be just anticipating, staying the course, keeping the faith, and anticipating His return. Now, what, I love about this is I’m going to leave you with a final thought here. And the final thought comes out of Revelation 21 and 22. So remember, I started by saying that thousand years is like the first installment of eternity, but not really because the new heavens and new earth need to be; we have, we have to have a destruction, a burning up of the earth, and then a re-creative period, which will bring new heavens and new earth. In Revelation 21, John says, “And I saw a new heaven and new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away, and there was no more sea. I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men.” Now, look at verse 22. There’s a description of the city and then this, “And I saw no temple therein,” so this lets you understand something. There will be a temple for those thousand years and then there will be a re-creation; new heavens, new earth, new Jerusalem, no temple. No temple is needed. Why? This is the place that we talk about when we talk about eternity and living forever and living forever with God, this is what we’re talking about. He says, “I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb is the temple of it.” So, you know, I look back at all the messages and they all culminate here, right here in this message that any person who takes the time to study this book from cover to cover, looking for understanding, even looking to disprove the book will encounter a massive amount of problems because the substantiation of everything that’s in here from Old to New that just meshes together to build a singular picture. What was in the beginning, what was meant to be, perfect fellowship, perfect shalom, perfect communion, no sin, no death, no dying. God says, “This period must pass,” tribulation, the Great Tribulation, these thousand years, and then the re-creation of new heavens and new earth where all the resurrected saints of God now, when I say saints, don’t think holiness, don’t think halo; think those, who took the time in their lifetime, whether you were living at the time of Abraham or the time of Esther or the time of Martin Luther or this time, through every age God preveniently, He takes the initiative to open up eyes, hearts, and minds for us to see, receive and not just believe, but faith. So, think about this. This will be a time when God’s people through all ages will be gathered together, brother and sister. When I say that, I don’t mean as family members, I mean as one body in the Lord. And here we see the final word, verse 4 of this twenty-first chapter, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things that are passed away.” Now, I cannot make somebody believe this. I cannot say to you, “Look, it’s there.” But if Christ is already in your heart and you’ve been studying and reading the book, this is why I keep telling you, do not fear, do not be afraid. These are incredibly tumultuous times and I believe they’re only going to get worse. But for those of us who are looking at this, we can have the confidence God is not only with us in our troubles right now and in all the turmoil right now it may not look like it, but He is, but the promises here say, “There will be a time when all of this insanity ceases when all of the sinfulness and perversion of the nations and the people ceases.” And there will be a time that God intended at the beginning and it shall be in the end and we shall be with Him forever, for all eternity. And that’s why when I tell people, “You can make your own decisions about what you do now,” but for me, and I’m not a self-righteous person or I’m up here and you’re down there; we’re all in the same boat, I want to spend my time getting to know Him as much as I can. If I’m going to meet Him in eternity, I want Him to know who I am and I want to know exactly who He is. And when I sit before Him, which is just that words coming out of my mouth, it’s kind of like, “Huh?” But when I sit before Him, I don’t want to be thinking, “What do I need to know?” I spent my time down here preparing for it and spending time with Him in eternity is far better than you could say, “Well, can’t you spend your time doing something else?” Yeah, I could. But I choose to spend my time learning and knowing about Him. That’s why I said, “You don’t have to come to church to be a Christian, but you need to know who He is and it starts now. This is boot camp for eternity. You learn Him, you learn His word, you get to know Him. That’s the relationship and that relationship is going to take you all the way through and forever.I pray for the people who are still vacillating on this subject and not sure and uncertain, to have confidence in God’s word. God has already made good on so many of His promises and I’ve pointed them out over the years. There are so many that He’s already made good on historically, we can look at, historically, not just biblically; historically we can look at and say, “Yeah, God did that. He said He would. He did it. He said He’d do that. He did it.” And I could go down the list. There are too many of them. So, what’s yet to be fulfilled and the fact that God left this treasure for us to know, yes, the missing items are missing for a reason. We won’t need them because all those things that were shadows and types were just that. We shall see the real thing and that will be quite a day. And I pray for those who are just grappling to get with it and figure out that God has a great plan, even though, as I said, may not look like it to you. He’s got a great plan for you right now and He’s got a great plan for the future. No matter what’s going on in your life, focus on that and you will navigate all of the troubles down here and we’ll all meet up over there. That’s my message. The Feast of Tabernacles: A Picture of God’s Only Son

If people entertaining that there’s going to be a final harvest of souls, wouldn’t you want to be counted in it? I mean, that’s the logical person. Even if you’re not, see, people, say, “Well, I’m not religious, or I’m, I’m,” but then figure it out. By the way, I’m not a person who says, “Be religious.” I have been the person that said, “Build your relationship with Christ; get to know Him.” You don’t need a middle person. Somebody like me is; I’m only here to open up, to tie the dots, sometimes to, most of the time it’s translation, but there’s no one that comes between you and Christ. That’s your relationship to develop. ♪ ♪ We have been studying the Old Testament, basically the Tabernacle. We started by looking at the structure, we moved into looking at the furniture. After that, we’ve been looking at the set times. For example, last week we looked at the Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur. So, we are at the seventh and final set time which is called the Feast of Tabernacles, or the Hebrew word is Sukkoth. And this feast is probably mentioned throughout Scripture, both in the Old and New Testaments, probably more than any other. And it’s kind of interesting because it seems like a lot of these set times occur in this window between September and October in the month of Tishri. And they are all kind of commemorative into something. This one for, ex simple is commemorating the 40 years of wilderness wandering by basically they would, the folks would move out of their houses for the span of approximately a week. They would build a temporary structure made with branches and boughs and all kinds of things that would be a covering. And this is going to be a little bit weird when I say this, but in terms of making a connection to something we celebrate, this may actually be the closest thing to Thanksgiving.Thanksgiving obviously was something that started here. The pilgrims in gratitude basically for making it here alive, surviving the harsh winters and I think I’ve told you coming over Psalm 18 was the banner for most who came ashore because it’s a psalm of Thanksgiving. Well, Psalm 18 or Psalms 113 through 118 would be part of this time of year, reading and singing and rejoicing in those psalms but the reason why I say it looks like Thanksgiving a little bit is this would be also, you’ve got the Festival of Booths or Sukkoth, but you’ve also got something else that is being celebrated and that is the ingathering. So crops had been harvested and you would almost have a great bounty of food to enjoy. So kind of think about that September/October time; our, Thanksgiving’s November, but it’s probably the most parallel in that respect, a harvest festival. The day would start, the seventh month of the fifteenth day of Tishri which is equivalent, as I said, to our September/October. It lasted for seven days and the first day of this Feast of Tabernacles and the day after were holy convocations, an assembly of people gathered. You were to do no servile work, no work at all and it was also usually a Sabbath. And these are noteworthy pieces of information because when you start reading the New Testament and you encounter which we will demand you encounter Jesus at this time, there are a lot of things that will almost come together if you didn’t know that this had a, basically a Sabbath ending or holy convocation Sabbath ending, it would clearly tell you why the Pharisees reacted to Jesus in a certain way that they used that. They were looking for any excuse but they used that one basically to go after Him. So, if we are looking at instructions, in Leviticus 23, verses 33 and 34, it kind of gives you just a short, you know, “The LORD Spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD. On the first day shall be a holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.Seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be a holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; ye shall do no servile work therein.” So, that’s one. Numbers 29 tells us about the daily sacrifices, starting in verse 12. And I am actually going to take the time to read them because I want you to see even though it’s kind of a little bit boring, but I want you to see something. You know, God was very specific in giving instructions, “You’ll do this, you’ll offer that, this is how much, when.” So Numbers 29 verse 12, “On the fifteenth day of the seventh month ye shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no servile work, and ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: and ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savor unto the LORD,” and here we go, “thirteen young bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without blemish: and their meat offering shall be of flour,” remember we went through the offerings, so if you’re not; if you don’t remember, go back and reread why and what they represent, “their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenths deal unto every bullock and of the thirteen bullocks, two tenths deal to each ram of the two rams, and a several tenth deal to each lamb of the fourteen lambs.” Now you’re going to see as the days go through this particular set time, there’s actually one less bull every day being offered. But if you keep reading, for example, they’re numbered. So for example, verse 17, “On the second day you shall offer twelve young bullocks.” So remember the first one we had 13. That’s in verse 13, 13 young bullocks. Here, second, verse 17, “On the second day you shall offer twelve young bullocks,” “And on the third day,” verse 20, “eleven,” so you can see the numbers decreasing. But if you count up, and this is the thing, it’s a little bit weird, you’re either going to end up with 203 or 215 sacrifices depending on how you’re counting it. And that is aside from; so 215 offerings and sacrifices, aside from the daily regular offerings and sacrifices that would have been offered. That is a lot of sacrificing and offering. I just kind of put that in there. It’s not really that important that you should learn all these details, but what does matter, and I’ll just say this now because I’ve referred to it now for the last few weeks, is that the book of Zechariah says that God basically at the return of Christ, and during that time, people will come to the mount, a nation shall be born in a day.And it says clearly that the people will be forced to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. So don’t just think of this as something old, antiquated, and not part of our future because, this book tells you that in the future; Zechariah says that, they will be forced to celebrate and keep the Feast of Tabernacles, which ties into something actually, we’ll call it the law of double or triple fulfillment. So let me just say this, you’ll probably hear me repeat it through this message. Tabernacles itself, moving out of your permanent abode and living in this temporary structure, is not just a reminder of Israel’s wanderings. It is a picture of God’s only begotten Son taking up what John says, “He tabernacled in a tent of human flesh,” and that flesh could not be permanent because all of the sin was laid upon Him and that body had to ascend and go into heaven. So all that was laid upon Him could not have been carried into the heavens, so be very careful when you analyze or parse this. But Christ tented or tabernacled temporarily in a tent of human flesh, so Tabernacles has that dimension attached to it as a first type in fulfillment. A second type in fulfillment is when it says that all these people will have to come to the Mount; that is the final chapters of Zechariah, pointing to a future time where they will have to keep and celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. Imagine that if a nation is born in one day and people are streaming to worship at that Mount, they will have no choice but to live in temporary dwellings. They will not be able to have permanent abodes. And there’s actually more to this feast than just the temporary dwellings, and I’ll get to that in a minute because it’s quite fascinating actually. There’s also a rule or a law, if you will, about this particular celebration falling on a sabbatical year. That is in Deuteronomy 31, and I’ll read it to you just so you can have the details. This, it’s as much details as you want. I’m not trying to drive you crazy here, but Deuteronomy 31:10, “Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the Feast of Tabernacles, when all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, that they may learn and fear the LORD your God and observe to do all the words of this law: and that their children, which have not known anything, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither you go over Jordan to possess it.” So you’ve got some regulations therefor if this happens to fall in a sabbatical year. So that’s kind of giving you the details more or less, an outline. I don’t want to get bogged down on that. Equally because there were so many offerings being offered, and now I’m going to, I’m actually going to just shift this like I did last week, two temple times, because it’s much easier to talk about details in this festive time at the tabernacle versus at any other time; I’m sorry, at the temple because we have enough information or more information. So what we would see on this particular day, and this again, this ties into all these small details, we would see all of the courses of the priests, all 24 courses, would participate in this time. It’s kind of radical for another reason, and I’ll tell you why. The priesthood all in its full glory in participation; think of now pointing to a future time, they’ll, just like God was speaking in the book of Revelation to John saying about the hundred and forty-four preachers of righteousness, these 24 courses of the priesthood, if you will, will need to be present at that time. So there will probably be a reinstitution of some form of the priesthood, as we read it, some form, and these 24 courses will be present at that time as well. It’s kind of; it’s all tied together. You can’t just go, “Okay, this is Old and this is New and we, the twain shall never meet.” No, they’re actually, you read them together and you see the big picture coming together of what exactly that’s going to be like in the future. Also, I reference this because it touches on three of the major feasts. This is one that all males of a certain age were required to go to Jerusalem, the three feasts, this is one of them, and God says in Deuteronomy 16:16 to not appear before Him empty-handed. So the men that came to Jerusalem to celebrate these three feasts also would need to come with something in hand, an offering of some kind to the Lord. These set times, all, as I said, there’s a cluster of them and this particular set time, the Feast of Tabernacles marks a change in season. And this kind of dovetails into the other things we don’t really talk about regarding the Feast of Tabernacles. So for these people of the book, biblical times, extremely important, mark the time of sowing and harvesting. It also marked a time; this particular time of year would basically usher in what would be analogous to their winter and a rainy season, minimally, if not snow. And I know people, again, tend to think of the Holy Land and they never think of it, it’s like the song, “It Never Rains in Southern California,” which is a lie. I don’t know why people think it never snows in the Holy Land. Hello. But anyway, let’s, let’s go back to that at a different time. And the climate people will be raising their fists at me, all right. So, but we understand due to the nature of the time we’re dealing with people depending on their crops and specifically one particular thing: rain. So this particular time would usher in, as I said, the winter/rainy season, but it didn’t always guarantee rain. So there was this, we’ll call it prayer for water, for rain, to bless the crops for the next year. And two things don’t seem to go together, moving out into temporary booths for seven days and praying for rain. It doesn’t seem like they go good together, right? But that’s what they did. So by temple time, I want you to imagine what the scene would have been like.So I want you to think if you could even imagine looking at an aerial view and imagining it would be like looking at thousands, thousands and thousands of ants moving around, hustling and bustling, because they had to move out of their houses and build temporary structures. But then remember, this is a feast where people must come to Jerusalem, right? It’s a pilgrimage feast. So it means the streets anywhere where you could place your temporary dwelling, it would be crowded. And people would be essentially racing on the, the night of the fourteenth of Tishri to finish their structure. So the scene there would have been kind of a little bit chaotic. And I’m imagining if we had a, if we could fly a drone back then to see what it looked like, you’d see all of these people just moving around frantically to get their structures set up.And they had to do it before the priest would sound the horn that let them know that the feast had started. So it’s almost like, “On your mark, get set!” I don’t know about you, but I would not want to be building my structure under that much pressure, especially if rain’s coming. I’m not, you know, no. But, so we could focus on the rain part. But what actually is interesting is, you know, how holidays have morphed. I explained this to you. A lot of things were added in by human imagination. So there was something added to this holiday that gave way to something called “the water libation,” the offering, the collecting, and the offering of water. And so what you would see during this time, and I’m now looking at, as I said, temple times, what you would see is the high priest who would take a golden pitcher. And I just, again, I’m going to try and paint the picture. You almost have to picture a bustling, very excited crowd following the high priest as he took his pitcher down to the pool of Siloam and probably collected no more than maybe a quart of water. And the procession that went around him, singing, and they would of course be reciting Psalms 113-118 by heart. There’s nobody carrying around a scroll, all right? It’s all by memory. Imagine the instruments and the kind of the chaotic noise. I don’t, I don’t envision that the music was, in my, I don’t know, in my imagination, the music’s not pleasing. It’s probably very irritating with people blowing something that probably sounds like a very off-key recorder or a flute, something that’s irritating; people singing, tambourines, clapping and whatnot, accompanying the priest as he would return back to the temple area. And so this whole entourage followed him to the pool of Siloam to collect the water, followed him back to the temple, as he went through the water gate, entered into the southern gate, and the silver trumpets would be blown three times.Remember, we covered the silver trumpets. And the words of Isaiah 12:3 would be recited. I’ll read them to you, “Therefore with joy you shall draw water out of the wells of salvation.” And the high priest would take the pitcher of water that he collected and pour it into one of two silver basins. The other silver basin would be for the wine/drink offering libation. I don’t, I’m not really quite sure what the category is for that, but there would be two basins. And then you would have the three blasts that would sound from the trumpets, the people reciting, singing, all kinds of clamoring, thanksgiving would fill the air. And essentially that, the act, the ceremony of pouring the water was essentially like saying to God, “Okay, we’re ready for You to open up the skies and pour us out a blessing so that we can have food for the next year.” We tend to take this very much for granted. But, you know, we can, because you can always go to the store, right? Go to the store where you need a bag of potatoes, you need a bottle of milk, or whatever. But think of this, if your whole life depends on the crop yielding, you’re going to be hoping, you’re going to be doing everything you can and hoping and praying that God actually does let the rain go. Otherwise, you’re not going to have food. So, you know, we tend to not really connect these dots, but it’s important to get in the same mindset as what these people would have had to go through. Now, let’s park that here for a minute. You would also see these priests, many of them waving branches and boughs, sometimes they were palm branches, but they would be waving them almost like in excitement, like, you know, it’s like stirring up the air, right? It’s kind of waving everybody.Again, I imagine the scene being really beautiful, but I’ve also been, I’ve told you, I’ve been to churches where people think it’s their job to stir up the air. All right, now let me start making some connections here. So, turn, if you will, if you’d like to, with me to the New Testament, Matthew 21. So, I want to start showing you, we’re making connections to how this applies in both the realized time of Christ’s time and future fulfillment. So, in, in Matthew 21, very early on, we have Jesus entering Jerusalem and if you remember, you’ve got all of these people that are thronged around Him and they’re screaming. The multitudes went before and followed and cried, “Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna,” which is basically “save now,” “in the highest.” But this scene is also told in Luke, I believe and in John, and you’ve got the scene of them basically with the palm leaves, waving branches and whatnot. So, I think it’s interesting, also mind-boggling, that when you start looking at, you know, traditions that might have been implemented, morphed through time because now the same; we have basically the King entering Jerusalem, but they’re, some are saying it in mocking and some are saying it in truth, but most probably in mocking regarding Jesus. When He comes again, trust me, there will not be anyone laughing. That’s, see, that’s the wonderful thing about God’s book is God gets to have the last laugh, okay, while people ridiculed and they made fun and whatever they did to Him. God will get to have the last laugh. And I, I’m not saying that’s going to be funny either because it won’t be. It’s a very serious time, but I think it’s, it’s mind-boggling. Here we have Jesus entering and the scene, which I imagine is kind of the, we’ll call it the mockery version of what will be when He comes back and you’ve got a whole processional around Him. I just think that there’s, there’s a connection there to that and also the other thing that we read of in Revelation 7, which is we see all of these people basically dancing around the throne. They have, some type of branches in their hands as well, singing and praising Him. So I think this time, this set time is very pivotal and when people talk about the Lord’s return, this is a very important time and it’s very important for us to understand; just don’t read this as simply Old Testament. We’re looking at what happened in the New and what will happen at a future time. Now, the second evening I’m not done in the New Testament, but we’ll just take a little break there. On the second evening of the Feast of Tabernacles, people gathered in the court of the women. And that’s very important too. This gives us some clarity about the way things were done. So you have all these people gathered in the court of the women, which traditionally was cordoned off and segregated for women only because that’s how worship practices were done. The men and the women were kept separate, but on this particular night of celebration, they would lift the partition up and the partition lifted would reveal four very large menorahs, and these menorahs or candlesticks would be lit.Now I want you, again, imagine. I want to try and paint the picture. Imagine if you were a pilgrim coming from afar, going towards the epicenter of Jerusalem, pitch dark, and all you can see is the center of the city is aglow, because those candelabras would have lit up everything. You would have seen the glowing-ness, then of course you probably have small fires here and there for people who are encamped (and hopefully they practiced tabernacle safety; never mind). But my point is if you could, if you could see what the imagery was, if you could only imagine. You know, sometimes, I’m sure all of us have seen pictures of our mountains here on fire at nighttime and the sky is glowing with the orange and all the colors of the fire. Imagine coming in as a pilgrim and seeing the glow of the city, the bustling of the people. It had to be quite a scene. But then you have something else that happens. So this partition is lifted up. These four menorahs or candlesticks are in the inner court. And then you’ve got all of these Levites now that make their way through a passage and they descend on the stairwell through the court of the Israelites down to the court of the women on these stairs. So it must have been a big, we’ll call it very ritualistic procession that occurred. And the sound of psalms and singing, the psalms I referenced again, 113-18 would be just flowing through the structure and the temple would have been filled with music and reveling. This would be repeated every single night. And then now let me give you some thoughts here because it’s really, I’ve just painted a picture and that’s really all good and well. But if you know your Bible, you know that Ezekiel, the prophet Ezekiel, describes the glory of God leaving the temple. Do you remember that? Okay. And then we have the picture of the return and that’s at a future time. Now remember that fire is always synonymous with God’s presence. Remember the burning bush, the bush that burned, that was not consumed, “Take off your shoes, Moses. The place where you stand is holy ground.” It was only holy because, or hallowed because God was there; fire, the symbol of God’s presence. These people were celebrating this celebration. Guess what was missing? God’s presence. You’ve got to light the fire to have them, we’ll call it the essence. I’m not saying God was not present as in, He can’t look down and see, but as the Shekinah glory that once filled the temple and the fire that represented God was not there. They had to create this. And I don’t think that they did this to replace or create or even, maybe they weren’t even cognizant. When I was reading and studying and seeing all the different procedures, I, it resonated with me that this is very much like how to, how to make it as though, it’s like putting fake fruit, hanging plastic fruit on real tree branches, and saying, “Look, there’s fruit growing.” It’s kind of like that.God maybe was watching, but His Shekinah certainly was not there. And as I said, if you are kind of putting this all together, you start to see that this festival of light and water, these two things are going to bring you not just the tabernacle, the set time itself, but water and light are also going to bring you to Christ. And I’m about to show you that right now. So we’re still in New Testament, if you didn’t go too far away, turn to John 7 with me. So John 7 tells us that it was the time of the Feast of Tabernacles. Jesus was returning to the temple when the religious Pharisees, of course, were always trying to, you know, trip Him up, but they tried here. So if you just read the opening, if you have a Bible like mine, it says, “Jesus at the Feast of Tabernacles.” But if you start reading the chapter, “After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry because the Jews sought to kill him.Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. His brethren, therefore, said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou does.” And if you keep reading this, you’re going to see that there is a whole exchange go on. “The Jews sought him at the feast,” that’s verse 11, saying, “Where is he?” Much murmuring. So we know that this is kind of the setup, if you will. And then something interesting happens. So if you keep reading through this, because that sets up the, the tone for everything. But you have two things that are going to happen within this chapter. One of them occurs in; it’s still in chapter 7 beginning at verse 37 when Jesus talks about the, the living water, “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” And so I need to kind of clarify this now, because there’s a lot of pieces of information, and if you’re not, if you can’t connect the dots, it’ll be hard to follow along. So remember I just talked to you about the water libation and the pouring out of the water that became part of the Feast of Tabernacles. And here we have the One who basically is able to give the water of life speaking, and it’s during this time. He goes on to heal a man in chapter 9 that was born blind. And it is at this moment in this reference, if you read and you put this all together, the healing of the man born blind would have been on the eighth day. And why that’s important, when did I say the eighth day would have been? A Sabbath; see, otherwise you just read stuff and it’s like, “Oh, okay, what’s the big deal about that?” Right? So Jesus heals the man, and what is said, obviously Jesus speaks and He says, “I am come into this world, that they which see not might see.” And then of course we have the whole reference to Jesus being the light of the world. So we have two references that actually, because of the time they’re happening, they would almost see, there are dots we can’t connect because we don’t necessarily know the minutia of their celebrations. But imagine if you knew about the pouring out of the water and the libation and the prayers for water, for rain to be blessed by water, and the light that they lit, you’d see clearly that and this is happening at Tabernacle time, this passage we’re looking at from chapters 7 at least through 9 are occurring in this space of time. If you were one of these religious people and you were sitting back and you heard Jesus either, A) referring to Himself as saying, “Out of Me come the living waters,” or “I am the light of the world,” you would have actually taken that possibly in several different ways, not just the statement itself as blasphemy, but imagine in the backdrop of all the temple celebrations you would have, if you were a religious person and well versed, you would have said, “How dare He? He’s saying He’s the water when we are the ones who pour out the water, and we bless you with the water. And He says He’s the light, but we light the fires.” Do you see what I’m saying? This all occurred during this time. So why I think this is important is that they were up in arms, by the way, if you read this whole passage on Jesus healing the man, because the whole thing was you’re not to do any servile work. Now listen, they didn’t acknowledge Him as the Son of God, but if God is God, God can do whatever He wants. He can heal, He can not heal, He can whatever He wants. But I find it interesting because it’s the mindset of these people that they’d prefer to let somebody, an animal, or a human being suffer than for the person to be healed and not celebrate that healing. So they thought; they sought to kill Him because He did this on the Sabbath, amongst other things, as most of us know. So you start tying this together, and as I said, it becomes very interesting to me. So the temple needed to have, we’ll call it, artificial light for it to become full of joy and festivities. This temple, your temple, our temple, does not have to have artificial light. It has the true Light. See, these are all the things that you juxtapose and you realize that we could never separate ourselves. You know, not studying these set times, not studying the Tabernacle, you do yourself a disservice because you can see it’s almost like this was so woven into the fabric of what would be unfolded down the road that not knowing all of this substance, you start reading now, go back and you read about starting at the Tabernacles, the Feast of Tabernacles time, and you will see that there are a lot of details in there regarding light and water out of Jesus’ mouth that basically are pointing you to no, don’t look at the temple. Don’t look at the shadow. Don’t look at the, what is just for now. Look at who is the permanent source: Christ. So, the seventh day of the feast, unlike the other days where there would have been, as I was referring to what went on inside, three blasts of the silver trumpet, but on this day, on the seventh day, sounds three sets of seven blasts. And I think that’s also interesting, the number seven and three. Three, we did the numbers; three is divine manifestation, seven, is the number of completion or perfection. And if you want to put them together in any form, I guess you get 21, last time I checked, don’t call that racist. These numbers are also important. So, what’s not said for us, clearly, in a future time, at the Feast of Tabernacles, as I said, Zachariah spells out that that’s what’s going to happen in the future; not yet happened yet. I’m also imagining that these sounds will accompany that day. And if you don’t think that they’re somehow connected in the book of Revelation, I’ll let you dig that one out for yourself. They are. It’s very interesting. All right, so, we have some other things that I want to talk about now. And, if you remember, I started off by saying, ingathering or harvest time. So, there are enough references to this final chapter on planet Earth, if you want to call it that, final chapter in terms of biblically speaking, where final judgment on earth is viewed as a final harvest. And if you’ve been listening to me over any amount of time, I’ve repeated some of these Scriptures. Hosea 6:11 says, “He hath set a harvest for thee, when I return the captivity of my people.” Joel 3:13 says, “Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.” And Revelation 14:15 says, “And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud,” and said, “Thrust in thy sickle, and reap . . . . for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” So, you know, I have, it’s a rhetorical question, but it is, I think I’ve asked this for the last few weeks. If people actually even entertain that there’s going to be a final harvest of souls, wouldn’t you want to be counted in it? I mean, that’s the logical person.Even if you’re not, see, people, say, “Well, I’m not religious, or I’m, I’m,” but then figure it out. So, think about it this way. Somebody who’s lazy, who doesn’t care, that’s the type of relationship you’ll have. Somebody who’s taken it upon themselves to cultivate, develop, get to know. You know, I actually know people like that. Have you ever met anybody who just, you know, they seem like they’re going to be really cool people, but they don’t really want to take the time to get to know you. They just sit there and they nod their head, or they’ll, if, if you eat food with them, they, they like to dine and dash, but they’re not really, they’re superficial people, right? Well, God’s not interested in superficial people. If that makes any point clear to you, if you’ve got friends like that, recognize you might be a little bit like God when you say, “I don’t like that,” because God doesn’t like it either. So, I have a quote here. It kind of paints the picture. What is said is, “It shall come to pass, that when the LORD shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel. It shall come to pass in that day, the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts of the land of Egypt, and ye shall worship the LORD in the holy mount of Jerusalem.” Very interesting, several times over Isaiah says these things, and it’s talking to us about a future time. This is why I said there’s no place now or tomorrow or next year or in the future for ego and pride in the kingdom. If you don’t know what you don’t know, recognize “I don’t have enough knowledge here.” It’s like; it’s like a survival thing, all right? We have no electricity. We have you have to be your own resources and figure things out. Now, do you wait until the last minute when everything goes wrong, or do you learn some basic skills along the way that will help you? I think that’s a rhetorical no-brainer, right? You’ll learn some basic skills. Otherwise, you’re going to be hoping and praying that you have some very generous neighbors.Never mind. All right, from the prophet Zechariah, he says, “And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, that whichever families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain.” For those that do not come, I believe that’s not a reference simply to no water, but there will be no blessing upon them by God, ultimately in Christ because they refuse. They were told they must come up. They must perform this and they will not. Now that’s Zechariah 14:16, 17, 18; something like that. You decide. You can go at your own leisure and read that and see what you think that means. But not only does God demand that they come and do as He prescribed, but He also says, “You will come and you will bring offerings.” And this is why I, I get a little frustrated with people who seem to think that giving is just an add-on in Christianity. It was never an add-on in the Old and it was never an add-on in the New; it is intrinsic to our existence as believers. Ezekiel 37:27 says something like this, “My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” And that reference is to none other than “my tabernacle” is speaking about Christ. You know, again, if you were reading the Old Testament and you couldn’t put together the symbolism, you might think, “My tabernacle” is in the; that’s the old tabernacle that Moses dragged around, that David dragged around. No, “My tabernacle shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, they shall be,” is speaking and referring to Christ. It goes on to say, “And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, with my sanctuary and I shall be in the midst of them.” Now, if you take that same look and you look at Revelation 21 and I believe it’s verse 3. And you’ll, you’ll have a similar statement, “I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” Can you tell me; it’s a yes or no answer, can you tell me that you could read the Old Testament and not by reading the New, seeing that this is like a mirror? They are saying the same thing.I just read you a passage out of Ezekiel, Ezekiel 37:27 and 28, and Revelation 21:3, they’re saying the same thing. It’s like God was saying to the Old Dispensation, “I’ve revealed Myself,” if you want to call it in a hidden or cryptic way, until Christ put on flesh and let us know who He was. So this is why I say it’s, it’s kind of baffling that people would read the Old Testament and not, and not see, “Whoa! That’s Messiah right there, that’s Christ.” The other thing is, as I said, the Feast of Tabernacles, in my opinion, it’s very obvious the relationship and the connection to reveal Christ both in the New Testament as we know Him on the pages, and telling us about what will happen in the future because the pattern of what was established in the past is essentially going to be put out there. It’s almost like the whole Bible, I’ve said this before, is like bookends. What you had in the beginning, you will actually have in the end. So we had a tree set up, God said, “All this is yours, but this one tree, don’t touch it.” It’ll be the one tree for the healing of nations.Everything is like a bookend. What they had as perfect unity with God in the beginning and then the fall occurred, in the end we have, we are once more reconciled back with perfect unity. So how could you not look at the Old and say, “That’s where Christ is”? All the minute details, and then you go back into the New and you put them together and you’ve got this incredible portrait that’s not black and white, it is full of color and gives you a deeper understanding. And remember I said, water and light, so let me go back to that for a second because these two things became part and parcel of the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles. When I just quoted from John 7, Jesus says, “He who believes in me, out of his heart will flow the living water.” And He says that many times about the living water. Out of, out of you it shall flow, right? You even have, interestingly enough, something that the prophet Jeremiah says ties all of this together. So, bear with me. It’s a little complicated to tie these details together because they’re far away, but when you bring them all together you can see the connection. Jeremiah says, “My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and have hewed themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, which hold no water.” So, remember, part of this celebration is the pouring out of the water which basically brings you to Christ. And Christ says out of Him this, this essential part of life that now flows out of us. We are, we are not empty, broken, hewn-out cisterns pouring water as a libation like works. We have received the Spirit of God. There’s this great connection for this. So Jesus was telling us essentially, Jesus, not me, “I’m the source. I am essentially the river of life out of which all things that you need flow and I shall impart them to you. Do not try and make it for yourself.” Otherwise, you embody what Jeremiah was saying about the people of the Old Testament. They were just that. Now if they really had care and concern, I’m going to say this again, would they have grafted onto? God didn’t make the libation of water and God didn’t make the celebration of light. That belongs to Hanukkah and to other festivities. So why did they do this? Was it not enough to sacrifice 203 or 215 animals and to go along with God’s prescribed way of moving out of your house? But these were things that actually were lacking in the equation that were not, we’ll call, we’ll say, revealed about Christ. So how interesting that man grafts on the water libation and the fire for this particular celebration that God did not institute like this, as if the people were saying, now they’re not saying this, but as if the people were saying, “There’s a little part that was left out about Christ here, except we don’t know what His name is and we don’t actually know who He is and we won’t actually say that He’s Messiah because we, we don’t think so.But we’ll graft these things on,” which are actually revealing Christ as well. I just think it’s kind of mind-boggling to me. And we must see Christ’s words in proper context when He says out of the individual will flow the rivers or the live water or living water. The same thing is true of the light when Jesus says, “I’ll be, I will give you as a light to the Gentiles,” or “that you may be my salvation to the ends of the earth.” The concept of light and water is permeated through everything that Jesus says. So if you kind of put this all together, it, it paints a picture. And the Feast of Tabernacles, as I’ve said; don’t get me wrong, all of these feasts, set times mark out something. The Passover talks about the sacrifice of Christ. If the children of Egypt were delivered out of Egypt’s bondage and then set free, we are delivered out of the bondage of the world, of sin and the world through Christ our Passover. Or the Day of Atonement, which I spoke on last week, Yom Kippur, which for the children of Israel could only be a covering for the year, yet Christ when He died, my sins, past, present, and future were laid upon Him and they were taken away; they weren’t just covered. So, the Feast of Tabernacles is speaking on some, we’ll call it much deeper level about the work of Christ; not just the work that He did while He was here, but the work that is yet to be done in the final harvest of souls on earth. And the fact that He, throughout the pages, says, “I am light. I am, I am the true,” and fill in the blanks because He, He is the source of all, which leads you back, if you want to go back there to creation; He was there too.But my biggest thing here, it’s kind of a tragedy that when He came and told the people essentially, or was revealing in, in part who He was, that they didn’t listen. And again, these people who were steeped in these ceremonies couldn’t look and not be blind, to not see. This is the this is the walking, living fulfillment of what God spoke of, very interesting. So, starting at the close of Tabernacles or thereabouts is a celebration that takes you through the reading of the law in a cycle that when you get back the following year, you should have completed all the reading. If it took you that long, you may be a slow reader. Anyway, I think to bring all of these messages to a close, what I, what I want to say to you is, and the reason why this, all of these set times just speak to me, and they actually kind of, they, in some ways have set a fire inside of me because it’s exciting to see when you start getting into the detail, and these were not exhaustive messages by any means, but when you start getting into, and there’s much more detail, all of these minute details point to Christ. All of these point to His work, His ministry, and whether it is healing, cleansing, whatever it is, salvation, it’s all there. So when somebody says, “Well, I’d prefer to study the New Testament,” my answer is always going to be this. You must read Old and New together, and you’ll find that, as I’ve said many times, what is put out in the Old Testament may be as not a crystal clear picture, in some cases like the tabernacle, it’s crystal clear. But God in His mind when He was speaking, when people were writing, there was only one thought at the back of all this, or maybe at the front, and that was Christ. Christ was there all along. You may say, “Well, but, but Christ wasn’t in the flesh yet.” That’s true, and we have many revelations of Christ as a Christophany or a Theophany in appearance, but without the flesh, perhaps as an angelic being or bright and radiant. But in any case, the most important thing that I can tell you is these set times tell me something so important about the return of our Lord, and that is where I’m just going to take one second, then I’ll be done. See, you could start off by saying, “Well, I looked at all the feasts and I studied them, and I can see how they all reflect Christ.” The Feast of Tabernacles, however, paints a little bit different picture so that when you’re reading with caution, and I said, please, in your own leisure, read the closing chapters of Zechariah, because it paints the picture of when Jesus’ feet touch down, when He returns and His feet touch down on the Mount of Olives, geographically how the land will be changed. Water that does not flow from underneath the temple will flow from the temple; there, another symbol of water coming out from the source going, going out from, not coming into.So if somebody says to me, “Well, why should I study this?” Because your future actually depends on it, because with everything else that is going on in the world where people are contemplating, “Are we heading to World War III? Or what’s going to happen? Will I be broke next week? Or will, whatever political situation “it doesn’t, I hate to say it, it matters, of course it matters for our beloved country, for our citizens, for the people who actually are patriots and love this land. But in the bigger picture, further removed from this, there is looking ahead to a distant time. No one knows what’s going to happen, the dates, you know, the Bible says, no one knows the exact date of Christ’s return. But He’s coming back and the Feast of Tabernacles, probably above all, Trumpets and Tabernacles tell me we better pay attention. If all the other feasts have been fulfilled in past and in the present as they occurred with possible future fulfillment, some of them yes and some of them not, not completely like Tabernacles, we need to pay attention. That tells me that; people say, “Well, how do I know?” If God’s word has been right and accurate, we’ll say up to 95 percent offhand this is not a crystal ball where you’re predicting, but if God’s word has been right about future events; just think about the unfolding of history as we, one time when we studied the book of Daniel to see the successive kingdoms that had not yet been birthed or collapsed and Daniel paints them as clear as day.He speaks about people like the spirit or if you want to call it the spirit of Antichrist or the spirit that was in Alexander the Great conquered the then-known world. All of these things that you have to look at and you have to almost step back and say, “Well, if all of that has been fulfilled and this feast is looking for a future time, then my message to people would be, think very carefully about what you do with the time that remains.” And the time that remains could be a year, it could be a hundred years, but whatever that time is, it’s remaining. It’s not like there’s an infinitesimal time in front of us. And I don’t want to be gloom and doom because I say to you with, with great joy, someone who is in Christ, they need not worry; they will be with Him.You have life eternal. You will live with Him forever. This isn’t like, “Oh, let’s click our heels and hope for the best.” It’s what’s been revealed here. So what I’m saying to you is anybody who’s not redeeming the time right now, I’m not telling you, spend every living hour in this book. I’m not telling you, “Go and live in a cloister somewhere.” I’m not telling you that, but I’m saying, “Make time.” You make time for everything else. You make time to look at your darn phone every day, check your emails, go on social media for whatever five minutes that you do, which probably turns into an hour, then you’ve got time to sit down and at least read a little bit to get to know, because that’s how you get to know God. You sit down and you study and start reading His book, and maybe you don’t start by studying, you just start by reading. And you read where you can, getting to know the big picture. What was the meaning here? What was the take? What, what was it that God was wanting these people to know that He wants me to know? Once those things start taking hold something interesting happens. You start to think of the future radically different. I do not know what’s going to happen next year or next month or even tomorrow, but I know who will be with me. I know who’s going to see me through. And like many of you who’ve seen that picture of the two footprints in the sand, there’s only one person walking, that’s each and every one of us.So think about it. It’d be kind of silly to not say, “I’m going to take this time and learn all I can,” because when the time comes, I will, I will recognize. I will know Him. I will also know who the false prophet is. I will also know who the Antichrist is. I will know and I will recognize these things. And the spirit of Antichrist, which is already working in the land, I will recognize that too, not as some good thing for the citizens so we can all become better globalists or better communists. But yeah, I know I said it. It’s very hard, you know, to control this mouth and try to censor myself, okay? And if I really let loose, you’d probably all be like, “Ooh, I’m going out the door.” But I’m a real person and what you see is what you get in my care. And my concern is for those people who have not yet come to that place; and I’m not an evangelist saying, “If you died today,” I’m not; I don’t do that. I am saying, consider the fact that God was gracious enough for some reason to have you listen today to say, “Maybe I need to take this thing seriously. Maybe I didn’t hear all the other messages she preached, but this one is now telling me I should try and get to know God a little bit more.” And maybe you’re already on that journey. I don’t know, but if you haven’t started, today is a good day to say, “This could be the first day, not just of the rest of my life, but the first day, literally, of eternity because I started today to get to know the One who will be with me, take care of me, and see me through”” I don’t know what else to tell you except these are wonderful messages to learn more about Him and I hope you’ll go back, listen again, and it’s, as always, we come to an end of a series and I kind of feel like, “Huh, now what?” Well, you’ll have to be here next week to find out what that will be.That’s my message.
