Rolling Stone asks judge to dismiss UVA grads’ lawsuit

NBC News reports that Rolling Stone magazine has asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by three graduates of theUniversity of Virginia who say Sabrina Erdely’s debunked piece, “A Rape on Campus: A Brutal Assault and Struggle for Justice at UVA,” has damaged their reputations. Rolling Stone contends that since the graduates were not named in the piece, “no reasonable reader” would assume they were the subject of the article.

The plaintiffs, however, say they can easily be tracked by their graduation year and affiliation with the fraternity named in the article and as suchtheir names “will forever be associated with the alleged gang rape.”

Even if the case is dismissed, Rolling Stone faces two other lawsuits in connection with the article. The fraternity itself is suing the magazine for$25 million, andNicole Eramo, associate dean of students at UVA andheadofthe universitys sexual misconduct board, is asking for $7.8 million from Rolling Stone and Erdely, saying she was named in the article and portrayedunfairly.

Rolling Stone contributor defends ‘basically terrific’ Venezuelan government

http://twitter.com/#!/charlescwcooke/status/436902627453181952

That’s quite an honor, but Jesse A. Myerson most definitely deserves it. Myerson, if you’ll recall, is the same douchebag who penned the decidedly Marxist-flavored “Five Economic Reforms Millennials Should Be Fighting For” last month for Rolling Stone.

http://twitter.com/#!/redsteeze/status/436903797332647936

Today, he’s once again making a complete ass of himself:

http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436901080887087105 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436901488724426752 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436901701493067777 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436901902236659713

Progress? In what universe, pray tell?

http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436902058407362560 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436903345672826880 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436903614380908545 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436905382326194176 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436906644937535488 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436906841662951424 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436908660606771200 http://twitter.com/#!/GOPMommy/status/436911990347268096 http://twitter.com/#!/JAMyerson/status/436911917546737664

Um, no. It’s just a perfect illustration of the appallingly rotten conditions in which most Venezuelans find themselves.

Myerson’s in dire need of a public shaming. Fortunately, reality-based tweeters are up to the task:

http://twitter.com/#!/varadmehta/status/436904129769009153 http://twitter.com/#!/coolhandschlute/status/436904310123671552 http://twitter.com/#!/cjciaramella/status/436907193359929344 http://twitter.com/#!/GOPMommy/status/436911727351836672 http://twitter.com/#!/EEElverhoy/status/436914335386845184 http://twitter.com/#!/AlexCKaufman/status/436903037203148800 http://twitter.com/#!/mooshakins/status/436905224813293570

Also painful? The fact that in this day and age, there are still people out there who defend a political philosophy that has millions impoverished or dead.

http://twitter.com/#!/GOPMommy/status/436912920199323648

Some people are just beyond help.

Editor’s note: Myerson’s name was initially misspelled in one instance. We’ve corrected the error.
