Jose Canseco wants to help Dennis Rodman along the right path

http://twitter.com/#!/JoseCanseco/status/308759934806392832

Birds of a feather flock together — or at least eccentric sports stars do. Jose Canseco is offering to help out Dennis Rodman with his diplomatic outreach efforts, after Rodman’s love-fest with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un landed him in hot water. Who could represent America better than these two?

Twitter is not impressed.

Touching: ‘Tweet your grandfather’s WWII stories’ in honor of Delbert Belton

http://twitter.com/#!/Cameron_Gray/status/370770744751714304

As Twitchy has previously reported, two teens assaulted 88-year-old World War II veteran Delbert Belton in North Spokane, Wash., Belton later died from his injuries. Memorials and calls for justice poured in, and as of right now one arrest has been made.

In honor of Mr. Belton (who was wounded on Okinawa) and his service, the hashtag #TweetYourGrandfathersWWIIStories was started. The result has been many moving reminders of heroism cloaked in humility via short stories about those who helped save the world:

Shameless: Obama recruits Gabby Giffords photo for gun-grabbing campaign

http://twitter.com/#!/irishspy/status/305009649088872448

President Obama’s crusade to slow the rise of the oceans and put a stop to gun violence is well underway, but he can’t do it alone. To help him be clear, he’s using Twitter to help spread the gun-grabbing gospel:

If we save even one life from gun violence, it’s worth it. Tell Congress: #WeDemandAVote. OFA.BO/uJymNX, twitter.com/BarackObama/st…

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) February 22, 2013

“The President said to me, ‘You can’t change the past Sami, but you can change the future.’” OFA.BO/kAADai #WeDemandAVote

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) February 22, 2013

RT if you agree: The number of guns sold without a background check should be zero. #WeDemandAVote, twitter.com/BarackObama/st…

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) February 22, 2013

That’s all well and good, but he needs to really up the prop-aganda factor. Enter Gabby Giffords:

For Gabby, and every victim of gun violence, #WeDemandAVote: twitter.com/BarackObama/st…

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) February 22, 2013

Ugh.

Gabby already has a vote. RT @barackobama: For Gabby, and every victim of gun violence, #WeDemandAVote: twitter.com/BarackObama/st…

— Liz Thatcher (@lizthatch) February 22, 2013

From victim to political prop. RT @barackobama: For Gabby, and every victim of gun violence. twitter.com/BarackObama/st…

— JB (@BobSwagetPDX) February 22, 2013

@sarahbellumd That would be embarrassingly shameless from an Obama voter. From @barackobama himself, it’s beyond parody.

— Anthony Bialy (@AnthonyBialy) February 22, 2013

It’s pathetic. Meanwhile:

I don’t see Chicago nowhere on this pic smh RT @barackobama: For Gabby, and every victim of gun (cont) tl.gd/l4e7d5

— Ashley(@TwistedBeauty90) February 22, 2013

Chicago’s already the poster child for gun control, yet gun violence persists. Oh well. That truth is far too inconvenient for a messiah on a mission.

Twitter users say NYC should call off the marathon

http://twitter.com/#!/CostantlyTini/status/264149777191677952

This Sunday, tens of thousands of runners will take to the streets of New York to compete in the New York City marathon. In spite of Hurricane Sandy, the event will proceed as planned, according to Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Many Twitter users, however, say the event should be canceled or postponed. They argue that the resources used to support the marathoners (including police and water) could be better put to use helping those harmed by Hurricane Sandy.
