If You’ve Ever Played With LEGO (And Who Hasn’t?), You’re Going To Love What This Guy Did.

When playing with LEGO men as a kid I often wondered what this large world of ours would look like from their perspective. Clearly I wasn’t alone in wondering that, as British photographer Andrew Whyte has a fun series of photos which he calls ‘Legography’. Legography is all about the adventures of a lone LEGO photographer, which Whyte carries around in his pocket as he travels the United Kingdom, placing the tiny LEGO photographer in all kinds of situations then snapping a picture of him in action using his iPhone. Check out some of  these super fun photos below, which Whyte has shared with his thousands of Facebook fans:

Every photographer needs his own shot of a London double-decker bus.

He was up early for this shot.

A bit of rain won’t stop him getting that nature shot.

Trainspotting.

Ssshhhh, don’t scare it away.

An eye for London.

Yell…Ow!

I hope he sent them the tiny photo memento afterwards.

Run! Getting that action shot isn’t worth it!

Now there’s an unusual tree.

Portsmouth pier in the sunset.

All those pretty lights are worth a photo.

I could really go for a Coca Cola now.

HMS Warrior.

Colorful beach huts.

Seems he’s found an oil spill that needs documenting.

Caught in the moment.

Choo choo!

If I’d ever see mushrooms my size, I’d stop to take a picture too.

One of the docks.

Sometimes the simplest of objects make the best pictures.

How fun is that? I like the fact that he even changed his shirt, made him seem just a little more human. Source: Andrew Whyte Photography / You can Like Andrew on Facebook Here Share this “Leg O’Grapher” with your friends below.

Students In Germany Transformed This Boring Tower Into Beautiful Artwork. Simply Stunning.

We pass by so many boring, ordinary, and thoroughly uninteresting landmarks in our everyday life. Most of us tune them out, but a group of students in Germany transformed this dull electric tower in their town into an undeniably beautiful work of art. There’s no ignoring this as you ride along the road. The students cut out vibrant pieces of Acrylglas and affixed them all along the tower to create a collage of gorgeous stained glass. The project, titled Leuchtturm (“Lighthouse”), was completed in 2010 at the Klasse Löbbert and it has been brightening up the small town road in Hattingen, Germany ever since. Take a look!

(H/T: Colossal) It’s so simple, but it completely changes your perspective. Feeling inspired? Share with your friends below and see if they wanna tackle any urban artwork projects in your neighborhood!

This Man Calls Himself The Book Surgeon. What He Creates Is Insane.

New York City-based artist Brian Dettmer‘s nickname is the “Book Surgeon,” and with good reason. His art is created almost exclusively using old books, text books, and encyclopedias. So why the nickname?

It’s because Dettmer uses surgical tools, like scalpels and knives to transform these old books into amazingly intricate works of art. I know it sounds a bit strange, but trust me the results are amazing. Just have a look.

(Via: Bored Panda)

That’s such an amazing way to repurpose old books. It’s much better than just throwing them out. Don’t forget to share this innovative art with your friends on Facebook by clicking below.

Cartoonists In 1947 Decided To Attempt One Awesome Test Of Skill.

Software didn’t exist to replicate images when comics began their meteoric rise to popularity. Cartoonists drew everything by hand, staying consistent with their style and technical skill to make characters and scenery look the same every time. After repeatedly drawing the same characters, some cartoonists opted to see if they could continue doing so with their eyes closed.

In 1947, a group of cartoonists decided to blindfold themselves and attempt to draw some of their best-known characters. With no way of seeing what marks they were producing on paper, they had to use muscle memory and a rough approximation of where they thought they were drawing. Cartoonists from across the country rose to the challenge in a sort of proto-Ice Bucket fashion, and had their results published in the February 3, 1947 issue of Life magazine.

The resulting pictures are pretty interesting, giving an insight into how the artists composed their characters. The drawings also point out the features cartoonists thought were the most important in making these characters recognizable. Take a look at the images below. The “eyes open” versions are on the left, and the blind drawings are on the right. Some of the characters lasted in time and exist today. Some…not so much, but the original captions will let you know who they are. Take a look!

Take A Peak At What This Artist Uses To Create Her Incredibly Detailed Drawings.

As someone who can’t even draw a convincing stick figure, I’m constantly baffled by the abilities of talented artists who are able to create masterful pieces of work from things I couldn’t even use to stay inside the lines of coloring books.

And this artist takes it to an even more incredible new level. Karla Mialynne posts her hyper-realistic drawings to her Instagram account and will often include a behind-the-scenes look at what she uses in her process. Probably because no one could believe she didn’t just print them off the Internet. These are stunning.

From abstract to super-detail:

Each one looks like it could jump off the paper!

She’s even mastered ethereal dreaminess.

Look at these big sad eyes!

The layers of color that go into every detail are breathtaking.

(via Demilked.)

That dedication to the detail is simply amazing. You can follow her on Instagram to check out even more of her outstanding artwork.

Fingerpainting Doesn’t Mean What It Used To. Check Out These Amazing Works!

Spanish artist Jaime Sanjuan Ocabo creates detailed and lifelike (though slightly surreal) images using only an iPad and his fingertips. Just like traditional painting methods, Ocabo builds up layers to create his paintings, beginning with the basics and adding more and more (and more!) detail as the painting evolves.

He creates still-life paintings, portraits and landscapes, all which look real enough to touch, but each with a surrealist twist. Solid objects have liquid, splashy edges, while liquids hold their shape.

Still Life (Naturaleza Vida)

Cutbacks (Recortes)

Digital media changed the art world over the last several years. It still takes training and skill to create masterpieces like Ocabo’s, but digital media makes art more accessible. You no longer need studio space and painting supplies. All you need is an iPad and an art app. Digital tools don’t come cheap, but they save space and resources otherwise required to create art.

Ocabo, who studied fine arts and wrote his doctoral thesis on art and technology, knows this first hand. Despite his serious credentials, he was unable to find employment for four years after graduating, something many twentysomethings can relate to. Due to lack of funds, he gave up painting. But after receiving an iPad a year ago, he discovered a way to create art that didn’t require extra space or money.

The Bubble (La Burbuja)

Breakfast Light (Luz de Desayuno)

King Snail (El Caracol Rey)

Self Portrait (Autorretrato)

Nature (Natura)

Long Wait (Larga Espera)

Broken Souls (Almas Rotas)

Black Hole ( Agujero Negro)

“With the help of this tool, I do not need a studio, and there is no need to buy materials to create my paintings,” he explains, I still have no job, but now I feel alive!”

We hope that Ocabo can find gainful employment in a field he loves. Until then, it’s important for him to have a creative outlet, and one that doesn’t drain his funds. Based on his talent, though, we’re sure he’ll go far!

What This Company Did With Legos In Their Office Is Amazing. Can I Work There?

How cool would it be to work in an office made entirely out of Lego bricks? While we’re not quite there yet, Hamburg, Germany-based creative studio NPIRE is a lot closer than most offices.

For the last year, employees at NPIRE slowly built a colorful wall of Legos to divide their kitchen space from the hallway. The finished product is the coolest piece of office furniture you’ve ever seen.

According to NPIRE, they used around 55,000 individual Lego bricks to build the wall. It took them almost a full year to finish building it.

That’s a TON of Lego bricks.

The archway taking shape.

The completed wall is a little bigger than nine feet tall and nine feet wide.

This looks like one of the best jobs ever.

Here is the final product. I need one of these in my apartment.

(Via: Design Taxi)

I’m not saying that the offices of ViralNova aren’t nice, but I think we could all really benefit a Lego wall (or two) of our own. Please?
