Rep. Gardner opts out of federal health care, insurance plan is canceled

http://twitter.com/#!/repcorygardner/status/381079390928388096

As Twitchy reported, there is one thing you can “keep” with Obamacare: Cancellation notices. And Rep. Gardner (R-Colo.) is among those who have been receiving notices of cancellation.

Gardner took to Twitter and Facebook to report that he opted out of federal health care and subsequently learned his family’s insurance plan is being canceled.

He is reaching out via social media to hear from others who are facing the same fate.

More from his Facebook page:

My office is currently collecting stories of those who have been affected by President Obama’s healthcare law. Like many other Americans, my family was recently notified that our healthcare plan would be discontinued at the end of this year. If we wish to buy a comparable plan, it will cost over 100% more. Has your coverage been dropped? Have your rates gone up? Have your hours been cut back at work? I want to hear your story. Anything you submit to my website will remain confidential. Go here to share your story: http://gardner.house.gov/contact-me

And share, they did.

Twitter users have been drastically affected as well.

“You can keep your plan” … just kidding, guys!

Sarah Palin vindicated: When media get it wrong, ‘they really get it wrong’

http://twitter.com/#!/SarahPalinUSA/status/366291016396963841

Sarah Palin appeared on Fox News’ “Cashin’ In” Saturday afternoon to talk Obamacare and death panels, and she backed up her appearance with a Facebook post calling out the mainstream media for getting health care rationing really wrong.

Please see the article linked below. To the “defenders of the truth” in the lamestream media, I’m not sayin’, “just sayin’.”

To our steadfast supporters, let’s always keep our eye on the truth and never back down from ensuring our great country isn’t deceived by what we are told to think by the media or the powers that be. When they get it wrong, they really get it wrong.

We will never sit down and we will never shut up. It isn’t in our DNA and it isn’t what our country was founded upon. The need to question government and address its flaws is incumbent on all people of conscience, and we will never stop defending true and plainspoken facts. There is much more to come, hold tight and keep your resolve.

The linked article in Investors Business Daily notes how Howard Dean and other Democrats are beginning to distance themselves from Obamacare’s Independent Payment Advisory Board, which Dean called “essentially a health-care rationing body” that will frustrate patients and fail to control costs. It also notes how Palin was ridiculed for saying, “We can’t party like it’s 1773,” referring of course to the Boston Tea Party of … 1773.

Chuck Todd hopes someone (else) will ask Spitzer why he exploited women

http://twitter.com/#!/chucktodd/status/354577274701496320

That would be a good question! And one that might elicit more tears from NYC comptroller hopeful Eliot Spitzer, aka Client 9.

Earlier today, NBC’s Chuck Todd correctly noted Spitzer’s victimhood charade and lamented that the media “are only enabling him.” Now if only someone would commit an act of journalism and hold Spitzer accountable for the prostitution scandal that forced him to resign as New York governor. Hmm. Does Todd know anyone whose job it is to ask tough questions of politicians?

http://twitter.com/#!/GPIA7R/status/354577815670231041 http://twitter.com/#!/BenK84/status/354580181274468352

Todd’s reply to that one: So much real journalism to pursue, so little time.

http://twitter.com/#!/chucktodd/status/354580392537362432

Plus, even if he wants to know the answer, why feed the narcissism?

http://twitter.com/#!/chucktodd/status/354578642799562753

Zing:

Then again, Todd would totally be on it if only he could land an interview.

(Unless he’s referring to Vitter.)

If Todd finds any time in his busy schedule, here’s another question he might want to ask:

Mary J. Blige urges delegates to ‘get it crunk for Obama’

http://twitter.com/#!/ryanbeckwith/status/243835724456140801

A day after the delegates at the Democratic National Convention reintroduced the words God and Jerusalem to the party’s platform, musical guest Mary J. Blige had one more addition: crunk.

Mary J. Blige: "Now that we've established that we're family, let's make it a family affair & get it crunk for Pres Obama for 4 more years!"

— Molly Ball (@mollyesque) September 6, 2012

First time the word "crunk" is used in a Convention? #DNC2012 #historic

— Christina Gomez (@stayupearly) September 6, 2012

Can someone confirm? Is this the first time "crunk" has been part of a nominating convention? #DNC2012

— Phil Elliott (@Philip_Elliott) September 6, 2012

@Philip_Elliott Well there was the 1892 Democratic Convention when Grover Cleveland said "Get Crunk, Vote for the Democrats!"

— Scott Candage (@ScottCandage) September 6, 2012

The delegates proceeded to dance, but did they really get it crunk? What is crunk? Professor?

One theory of its etymology is that "crunk" is a portmanteau of "chronic" (as in marijuana) and "drunk."

— Ryan Teague Beckwith (@ryanbeckwith) September 6, 2012

Mary J. Bilge. says "Let's get it crunk for Obama." "Crunk" is slang for getting high and drunk. Way to go, #DNC2012.

— Bill Hobbs (@billhobbs) September 6, 2012

I enjoyed the guy with the ponytail pictured getting crunk to Mary just then on C-Span.

— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) September 6, 2012

We think we get it…. Could someone use it in a sentence for us?

Gettin crunk. Watching spongebob. Yeeeeeeh budday!

— Sam (@SassySamOnTheGo) September 6, 2012

Got it, thanks.

Polling expert: PPP’s polling methods come in range with the industry norm

http://twitter.com/#!/DrewLinzer/status/378206782847328256

It really has-been an educational week for many people interesting in polling.

Initially arrived the illuminating disclosure that liberal polling organization Public Policy Polling often doesn’t launch the outcome of polls with unexpected outcomes.

After that arrived this interesting article by TNR’s Nate Cohn, showing that PPP’s polling methodology includes a number of dubious practices these types of as “random deletion” of participants.

Then emerged Nate Silver’s statement which he will stay counting on PPP data even though he thinks PPP’s polls are crap.

Drew Linzer, a Ph.D. political scientist who knows their material, likened arbitrary removal to “intuitive ‘shrinkage’ weighting.”

http://twitter.com/#!/DrewLinzer/status/378192018503000064

We’re no specialists, nonetheless it seems like he’s saying this can be a technique always get the sample to mirror the population most importantly.

If it feels like smoke and mirrors, don’t worry, because all pollsters take action:

Really, that’s certainly reassuring.
