Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is fed up with Washington’s commitment to Big Government and the lapdog media’s role in misleading the public about the consequences. As the fiscal cliff looms ever closer on the horizon, the government and media are doing their utmost to ensure that class warfare and blame-gaming reign supreme.
Jindal penned an op-ed piece on the fiscal cliff for Politico, warning that “next year it will be the fiscal mountain, after that the fiscal black hole, and after that fiscal Armageddon” and charging that Washington is “psychologically incapable of getting our fiscal house in order without laws that give them no other alternative.”
Jindal’s op-ed, published yesterday, drew an immediate backlash from the media, drawing fire from the usual suspects. That’s good, right?
Paul Krugman in new blog post suggests Bobby Jindal is a “fiscal ignoramus” (and has a lot of company).bit.ly/TVw8PQ

Bobby Jindal very upset about fiscal cliff, also very unclear on what this fiscal cliff thing is nymag.com/daily/intel/20…

If Weigel, Krugman, and Chait are slamming Jindal, Bobby must be over the target. nola.com/politics/index…

This afternoon, Jindal fired back on Twitter, giving his critics the smacking they so richly deserve.
I really enjoy being called “dumb” and “ignorant” by the liberal elite and their media water carriers. nola.com/politics/index…

Their opposition to a balanced budget amendment, term limits, and spending caps reveals their disdain for the American people.
— Gov. Bobby Jindal (@BobbyJindal) December 7, 2012
The American people, those slow-witted rubes, who just don’t understand the liberal utopia of ever growing government.

Another really ignorant guy-Charles Krauthammer-observed recently, public debt has increased by 83% under Pres. Obama washingtonpost.com/opinions/charl…
— Gov. Bobby Jindal (@BobbyJindal) December 7, 2012
More Krauthammer: as a % of GDP, “the real marker of national solvency,” public debt doubled from 45% to 70% washingtonpost.com/opinions/charl…

Washington has a spending problem & is incapable of fiscal restraint. That’s why we need structural reforms.
— Gov. Bobby Jindal (@BobbyJindal) December 7, 2012
No surprise these ideas offend the tax & spend crowd in D.C.They’re common sense.
— Gov. Bobby Jindal (@BobbyJindal) December 7, 2012
And common sense is anathema to our government and the media. New York magazine’s Jonathan Chait took notice of Jindal’s tweets and fired back.
Great thing about @bobbyjindal tweets is that 140 character limit has no negative impact on the depth of his arguments.

Chait’s solution to hitting the debt ceiling? Just mint and deposit those trillion-dollar platinum coins, duh.
