Boom! That pretty much sums it up right off that bat. But, why is Twitter buzzing over Stephen King today? Oh, he has joined the ranks of the ghouls who seek to politicize tragedy. He wrote (for sale, natch) an essay (how fancy) full of anti-gun zealotry.
Stephen King: NRA Should ‘Clean Up Blood, Brains and Chunks of Intestine’ After Next Massacre… drudge.tw/Wq7Wte
— DRUDGE REPORT (@DRUDGE_REPORT) January 27, 2013
Stephen King- large capacity not needed.”If you can’t kill a home invader with 10 shots, you need to go back to the local shooting range.”
— Maggie Jordan (@MaggieJordanACN) January 27, 2013
So perhaps some authors should keep their hypocrisies to themselves. #StephenKing
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) January 27, 2013
Yes, they should. Mockery of the author is swift and hilarious.
Why would I pay $0.99 to read Stephen King’s rant on “assault weapons” when I can hit myself on the head with a mallet for free?
— Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) January 25, 2013
It’s 100,000 words and ends in crashing disappointment. RT @washingtonpost: Stephen King releases essay on gun control wapo.st/WWR5fk
— Jimmie (@jimmiebjr) January 26, 2013
Stephen King was going to say something more interesting at the end of his offensive #NRA rant, but have up 3/4 the way through.
— Chris Loesch (@ChrisLoesch) January 27, 2013
Stephen King’s political opinions have long been silly. Also, Rage is a crappy book he wouldn’t even publish under his own name.
— Kat (@DogwoodtiredKat) January 27, 2013
.@dloesch Stephen King? I remember him from before his writing became a cliche. #caring
— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) January 27, 2013
What does Richard Bachman think? I am so nerdy. RT @washingtonpost: Stephen King releases essay on gun control wapo.st/WWR5fk
— The Fix (@TheFix) January 26, 2013
Mockery aside, many Twitter users point out the utter hypocrisy, idiocy and ghoulish nature of King’s piece. Note to Stephen King: In addition to your horror tales, didn’t you also write an entire series about a gunslinger? The hypocrisy does not end there.
I find it pathetically humorous when Hollywood Types want to take your guns while making mega $$$ on violent movies @stephenking #TGDN #tcot
— Dorothy Grissom (@DorothyGrissom) January 27, 2013
NO, I think HOLLYWOOD should do it! –> Stephen King: NRA Should ‘Clean Up Blood, Brains and Chunks of Intestine’ After Next Massacre #tcot

And Stephen King should have to work “cleanup” at an abortion clinic: po.st/vXzpy8 #hypocrite #allaboutprotectingtheinnocentmyass
— Michelle Moore (@Michelle_Moore) January 27, 2013
Between the NRA and Stephen King only one was connected to school shootings if you want that argument. google.com/search?q=steph…
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) January 27, 2013
Four school shooters had Stephen King’s “Rage” which authorities blamed for massacres: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rage_(Ste… . If you want to pass blame …
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) January 27, 2013
Hope King “rages” against AAA and liquor companies for vehicular manslaughter via DWIs. Same broken logic.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) January 27, 2013
At least Marilyn Manson rightfully called BS on these idiotic associations.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) January 27, 2013
Author Stephen King wants the NRA to “clean up” the next gun massacre. Does that mean MADD has to clean up the next drunk driver crash?
— Brad Ringlien (@BradRinglien) January 27, 2013
.@galtsgultch I guess Stephen King is a pro-axe murder kind of guy. “Here’s Johnny!” #LibLogic
— Trace (@sharpNpointy) January 27, 2013
Stephen King lecturing on gore is like Slick Willy lecturing on predators.

Does Stephen King think alcoholic beverage producers should have to clean up after accidents? Auto makers? What a jerk.
— Chris Loesch (@ChrisLoesch) January 27, 2013
Stephen King wants NRA to clean up after next massacre. He can say that because his books and films are free of violence and gore.
— mpav (@mpav) January 27, 2013
Stephen King owns guns, but he wants you to give up yours. Why? Because shut up, that’s why. Don’t make him hold his breath! He’ll do it!
— J.R. Salzman (@jrsalzman) January 27, 2013
Guns dont kill people. Scary clowns with sharp teeth living in the sewer kill people. Think of the children Stephen King. Remove your books.
— J.R. Salzman (@jrsalzman) January 27, 2013
For the Children, Mr. King.
Once again, a celebrity tries to offer up a sanctimonious lecture to others. He’s so much Smarter Than You™, you see. And enlightened and stuff, you bitterly clinging rubes. Hey, Mr. King, why don’t you start with President Obama and his claim of shooting skeet? That can’t be a good example, can it?
Guess what else, Mr. King? You may be a highly successful author, but that doesn’t mean you are successful at living in reality. Actually, you do deal in fantasy, don’t you? It also doesn’t mean that your word is gospel, nor does it mean that the entire world is waiting with bated breath to hear your thinkies on gun control. In fact, it’s pretty much the opposite.
Steven King, great author. But remember, he has no more moral authority than the rest of us.newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-she…

@jrsalzman Why would anyone give a hoot what Stephen King thinks about the mass shootings?
— Near Chaos (@Near_Chaos) January 27, 2013
But, hey, he has books to sell, right?
Oh, hey, Stephen King is pro #GunControl .Wonder how much he will make offa his .99 anti-gun “essay”? #CrisisProfit
— Michelle Ray (@GaltsGirl) January 26, 2013
Profits from the essay are allegedly going to The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. Of course, no word on the profits of any upsells of other books that the essay will bring in.
Never let a tragedy go to waste … especially if King can line his own coffers or pat himself on his smug back.
