These were purchased at an industrial liquidation earlier this year, and they were brand new in the bulk supplier bags. We repackaged them in heavy Ziploks. We tested them on our digital postal scales, and it takes about ten ounces to completely compress them. They appear to have some corrosion resistant properties, but we don’t have any specs regarding the exact material. They do attract a magnet, so we just listed them as “steel.” They have a very slight taper from one end to the other, with the large end being about .038″ / .96 mm larger than the small end.
According to the calipers:
Overall length: .595″ / 15.12 mm
Length fully compressed: .203″ / 5.15 mm

Outside diameter (small end): .550″ / 13.98 mm
Inside diameter (large end): .529″ / 13.44 mm
Inside diameter (small end): .479″ / 12.17 mm
Wire diameter: .028″ / .72 mm
Force required to fully compress: 10 ounces – 1/3 Pound
