Charlie Harper returns to ‘Two and a Half Men’

Charlie Sheen’s character, Charlie Harper, on the hit show “Two and a Half Men” will be reappearing soon! Only this time, the role will be filled by Kathy Bates.

From Access Hollywood:

It’s getting spooky (and surprising!) on “Two And A Half Men,” as the character of Charlie Harper – formerly played by Charlie Sheen – returns.

The most surprising part of the character’s return is that Kathy Bates will be playing him!

CBS announced that the character – who was killed off on the season premiere – returns after Alan Harper (Jon Cyrer) suffers a minor heart attack and is visited by Harper’s ghost in the hospital.

Bates, who is obviously female and almost 20 years older than Sheen – who is currently working on his own new show, “Anger Management” — will appear on the April 30 episode of the CBS comedy.

‘Seems impossible’: Montel Williams welcomes home Sgt. Tahmooressi [photos]

http://twitter.com/#!/MelinHB/status/528445531430068225

Montel Williams, who a month ago during testimony before a House committee blasted the Obama administration’s failure to secure the release of Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi and urged the president to “make the call” on Sgt. Tahmooressi’s behalf, welcomed home the U.S. Marine who had been held in Mexico since March 31:

A federal district judge in Mexico ordered the release of Sgt. Tahmooressi yesterday, and Williams was there when he was released:

Williams, a 22-year military veteran and a vocal advocate for the release of Tahmooressi, was thanked for his efforts:

Turkish police fire tear gas, water cannon at park protesters [photos, video]

http://twitter.com/#!/ReutersWorld/status/340475620226134017

A demonstration in a park in Istanbul, Turkey, escalated quickly as police moved in to clear out the protesters.

Reuters reports that tourists are among the hundred-plus injured:

Turkish police fired tear gas and water cannon on Friday at protesters occupying a park in central Istanbul, wounding scores including tourists in the harshest crackdown so far on days of anti-government unrest.

The protest at Gezi Park started late on Monday after developers tore up trees but has widened into a broader demonstration against Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan’s Islamist-rooted Justice and Development Party (AKP).

Friday’s violence erupted after a dawn police raid on demonstrators who had camped for days in the park in anger at plans to build a shopping mall. Clouds of tear gas rose around the area in Taksim Square, long a venue for political protest.

Tenth anniversary of Beslan school hostage crisis remembered in photos

http://twitter.com/#!/mchancecnn/status/506507174148071424

As President Obama stumbles to find a technique to deal with ISIS and Islamist extremists take over the U.S. embassy in Libya, lots of people are taking the time to consider the horrifying Beslan college siege, which Michelle Malkin during the time rightly labeled as Russia’s 9/11.

A decade ago today, Chechen jihadists stormed a school and took significantly more than 1,100 hostages. The siege lasted three days, and more than 300 eventually passed away in the massacre, including 186 younger students.

Many marked the anniversary of this assault by publishing pictures and other remembrances.
