Dan Savage accuses FRC president of sitting on ‘pile of dead gay kids’ at work

http://twitter.com/#!/campusreform/status/252883321082753025

Sex columnist, “It Gets Better” founder and White House guest Dan Savage was speaking metaphorically, of course, when he told a group of students at Winona State University in Minnesota last week that Family Research Council President Tony Perkins “sits on a pile of dead gay kids every day when he goes to work.”

It’s an even more tasteless comment than usual from “anti-bullying” crusader Savage, who called a group of teens “pansy asses” as they walked out of a Christian-bashing speech and said he’s less interested in seeing Mitt Romney’s heart than his “liver and spleen.” After all, Perkins and others at the Family Research Council’s headquarters were fired upon in August by a volunteer at an LGBT organization. Helping to foment anger against the FRC were claims by the Southern Poverty Law Center that the FRC is an “official” hate group — a claim Savage repeats to his audience.

It’s bad enough that, after news of the shooting broke, Twitter lit up with comments that the FRC “totally had it coming.” Savage hopes to keep the FRC in the crosshairs, though, outrageously claiming in his speech that “every dead gay kid’s a victory for the Family Research Council” and that they group will do “everything in their power to make sure that suicide rate does not come down.”

The White House’s favorite “anti-bullying crusader” also got in a shot in at Republicans, saying that the country still has a race problem (“Obviously we do, it’s called the GOP”) and lamenting that “We will always have ignorant dicks like Michele Bachmann and her fag husband.”

CampusReform.org called out Savage on his appearance, but not surprisingly, Savage isn’t backing down.

I'm Dan Savage and I approved — and stand by — this message: http://t.co/ZTMWCyzo

— Dan Savage (@fakedansavage) October 1, 2012

@fakedansavage wait are we supposed to condemn you for speaking the truth about the FRC?

— robert_ (@rowast) October 1, 2012

One fan called the appearance “funny.”

Dan Savage was brilliant, funny, irreverent, & absolutely inspiring during the talk he gave on "It gets better" at Winona State last night!

— Andrea Wood (@a_d_wood) September 28, 2012

Funnier still was the rainbows and sunshine headline in the Winona Daily News hailing the event: “Writer, activist Dan Savage creates hope for LGBT youth.”

Does this shooting reaction sum up the clear difference between Left, Right?

http://twitter.com/#!/Helen47/status/525723458676609024

As Twitchy reported, there is awful news out of Washington state today. A shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, with reports of multiple injuries. We join everyone in praying for the victims and all affected by this tragic shooting.

Does what happens after such tragedies show a clear difference between the Left and the Right? RedState contributor and head writer for Blaze TV’s “Dana,” Ben Howe thinks so.

The Left rushes to politicize each tragedy in order to further its gun-grabbing end. We’ve seen it time and time again. It’s not concern for the victims; if it was, they’d want people to be able to defend themselves or others.

Plus, that’s what suits their narrative.

And another difference:

NBC News’ Mark Murray: O-care ‘opponents have actually only control of the airwaves’

http://twitter.com/#!/Matthops82/status/456084886231973888

Yeah … also bad that’s never ended him prior to.

NBC News’ senior political editor Mark Murray has noticed that Obamacare has actuallyn’t been faring particularly really into the public arena. So, this morning, he put-on his thinking cap to find out the reason why.

Here’s exactly what he developed:

http://twitter.com/#!/mmurraypolitics/status/456080951509274624 http://twitter.com/#!/mmurraypolitics/status/456081355668197376 http://twitter.com/#!/mmurraypolitics/status/456082550679953408

“Unilateral control of the airwaves.” If anybody requires us, we’ll be over right here. Laughing hysterically.

http://twitter.com/#!/eriContrarian/status/456084515337687040

It’s definitely a very good competitor.

Awww.

http://twitter.com/#!/NoahWehrman/status/456088552967651328

Wonder if those caps fit over the blindfold and earplugs Murray has evidently already been wearing all of this time.

http://twitter.com/#!/eriContrarian/status/456085648818987008 http://twitter.com/#!/BecketAdams/status/456084822528888832 http://twitter.com/#!/OrwellForks/status/456086103108239360

True tale. As well as the thing is, with or without “the airwaves,” it’s however painfully obvious towards the US individuals who Obamacare sucks.

http://twitter.com/#!/Artist_Angie/status/456089448892362752 http://twitter.com/#!/hboulware/status/456083679681339392 http://twitter.com/#!/atoka7/status/456094639628365824

Really, to wince at his or her own stupidity, he’d need certainly to feel pity. Predicated on what we’ve seen from him so far, that’s not likely to happen any time in the future. But at the very least anything positive can still leave this:

http://twitter.com/#!/hboulware/status/456089667255795712

And mockery, unlike Obamacare, is wonderful for the mind, body, and heart.

Marie Harf: ‘We are not going to telegraph our plans, period’

http://twitter.com/#!/marieharf/status/511613592903614464

We posted yesterday on the “snippy” exchange between deputy spokesperson for the State Department, Marie Harf and Daily Beast reporter Josh Rogin, but Twitter wasn’t done commenting on the exchange.

As this administration has embraced telegraphing U.S. plans in advance — i.e., withdraw dates from Iraq and Afghanistan — users were a little confused by Harf’s strong statement that, “we are not going to telegraph our plans, period.”

And here are some of the responses calling her out on this “telegraph” nonsense:

@AnthonyBialy @JammieWF @marieharf @joshrogin "We are not going to telegraph our plans in advance, period." Uh, what do you call "no boots"?

— Joel Engel (@joelengel) September 15, 2014

@marieharf @joshrogin We never telegraph our intentions. We use the major networks silly. 👸👓

— Marie Harf (@MarieBarf) September 15, 2014

@marieharf @joshrogin because you tweet instead of telegraph now?

— psl (@SkePatt) September 15, 2014

Really?—> @marieharf Your exalted leader has no problem telling everyone what we 'won't be doing. What's the difference?

— Scott (@retiredfirecapt) September 15, 2014

Oh, and about Harf ending her declaration with “period”? Remember what happened the last time:

Oh, @marieharf, the last time anyone used "Period" on us, we lost our doctors, coverage. @joshrogin

— Sandy (@RightGlockMom) September 15, 2014

And let’s end with this:

How do you sleep at night? @marieharf @joshrogin

Here’s the latest report from POLITICO:

The Senate voted 96 to 3 to pass through a watered-down STOCK Act, which would bar members of Congress, their employees and some national workers from making money from non-public information obtained through their tasks.

Scott Brown (R-Mass.), which authored an early version of the balance final fall, stated in a statement. “The passing of this legislation is a vital step toward restoring rely upon our federal government.”

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), who was simply additionally involved with shaping the STOCK Act, echoed Brown, phoning it “a powerful bill with teeth” and a “good action forward” to begin reestablishing trust with the American people.

Other individuals downplayed the significance for the legislation. “It’s a modest gesture,” Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) informed POLITICO, incorporating he believes lawmakers are usually prohibited from insider trading under present law.

In my own State associated with the Union Address, We outlined a blueprint for an economic climate where everybody else gets a reasonable chance, everyone does their particular fair share, and everybody plays because of the exact same collection of principles, including anyone who has already been chosen to serve the US individuals.

These days, I’m pleased Congress took bipartisan activity to pass the STOCK Act. After I signal this costs into legislation, Members of Congress will be unable to trade stocks centered on nonpublic information they gleaned on Capitol Hill. It’s a great first faltering step. Obama campaign uses birthday e-card to harvest email addresses

http://twitter.com/#!/BarackObama/status/229335845818208257

Join @MichelleObama and wish the President a happy birthday: http://t.co/Lc8hZizg

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) July 27, 2012

@BarackObama wants us to wish President Barack Obama a happy birthday.  Check out the Normal Rockwellesque-style photo featuring First Lady Michelle Obama holding a giant birthday cake that obviously does not meet federal nutrition standards. How cute and sweet and lovable!

But the intent of this “birthday card” is not what it seems.

Anyone who fills out the card thinking he or she is simply wishing President Obama a happy 51st birthday is immediately whisked away to a page asking for a campaign donation:

Well, you don’t have to donate. But, alas, you’ve already given the campaign your email address. Under its “privacy policy,” the Obama campaign reveals how it plans to use it:

  • to send you newsletters and otherwise provide you with information or services you request or that we think will be of interest to you, such as sending you information to keep you informed about various campaigns, candidates, issues, events, resources, promotions, contests, products and services;
  • to help manage the campaign and to connect you with other supporters, and to solicit volunteers, donations and support for OFA and for candidates, issues and organizations that we support;
  • to remind you to send in your voter registration form and to vote;
  • to assist you in finding your registration information, polling location, and campaign events near you[.]

Michelle Obama’s name is being used to further the deceptive ploy:

Michelle Obama just sent me an email asking me to sign Barack's birthday card. Aw, we're all BFF now! Wait, you want MONEY TOO?

— jennifer bendery (@jbendery) July 27, 2012

First Lady Michelle Obama: Sign the president's birthday card! Buried lede: Oh, and a little money wouldn't hurt while you're at it.

— Sabrina Siddiqui (@SabrinaSiddiqui) July 27, 2012

The Obama campaign has used this gambit before. In one case, it used a Mother’s Day greeting card to tout Obamacare.  It’s standard operating procedure.

If a candidate for public office wants to openly request contributions and e-mail addresses for its campaign database, that is perfectly unobjectionable. But using cute greeting cards as a ruse to harvest email addresses and solicit campaign donations strikes us as a bit underhanded.

Some Twitter users (presumably Obama supporters) seem to agree:

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Obama. I go to sign your birthday card and you ASK for MONEY. That's not how it works.

— Brittany Schray (@brittanyschray) July 28, 2012

I can sign Barrack Obama's Birthday Card… so long as I donate to his campaign. ….

— Christopher Kusek (@cxi) July 28, 2012

Yes, I did sign a birthday card 4 President Obama b/c a campaign ad convinced me to do so. Yes, I do know it is just a ploy to get my email.
