Hurdler Lolo Jones ‘almost went Britney Spears’ after media criticism

http://twitter.com/#!/lolojones/status/233051563860566017

It’s been a rough few days for U.S. hurdler Lolo Jones. Not only does she have to deal with the disappointment of coming in fourth place in the women’s 100-meter hurdles final, she’s also dealing with a firestorm of negative media coverage on her performance in London. (A recent piece in the New York Times was particularly scathing.)

The stress of it all almost caused the athlete to have a Britney Spears-sized melt down. Luckily, supportive words from fans, including several celebrities, brought Lolo back from the brink of insanity.

@lolojones may not have won, but she is still a winner! Congrats on running your heart out girl. #TeamUSA

Lolo later appeared on “Today” to discuss the race and media criticism. Her hair is indeed still intact, but there are some breakdown tears. Watch:

Rep. Fattah: GOP’s ‘attack’ on president over Benghazi harmful to troops

http://twitter.com/#!/chakafattah/status/261965060740636672

OK, it’s time to let Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the maker of that anti-Muslim video no one actually saw, out of jail — a Pennsylvania Congressman has found the guilty party in the whole Benghazigate mess: Republicans and Fox News.

Obama’s deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter let us know two weeks ago that “the entire reason [Benghazi] has become the political topic it is, is because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.” Her boss told a Denver TV reporter essentially the same thing just today, saying that details will have to wait because “the election has nothing to do with four brave Americans getting killed and us wanting to find out exactly what happened.”

Today Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.) also pointed the finger at Republicans (and Fox News) for politicizing the tragedy. Not only are Republicans hurting the president and his re-election chances; they’re also hurting troop morale by demanding the truth from the Commander in Chief.

Fattah’s original tweet on the subject was deleted for some reason.

New reports suggest that multiple requests for military assistance were denied as the Benghazi attack was taking place, and twice today the president has dodged questions, saying that more than a month later, “we are finding out exactly what happened.” We’d suggest the president’s ignorance or incompetence on this issue is a much more serious threat to the morale of the troops (and their families) than Fox’s “attacks.”

Frankie Boyle educates (and insults) President after Obama’s Tribute to the Queen

http://twitter.com/#!/DanielHolland31/status/210687026318675970

When President Barack Obama gave an emotional tribute to the Queen for the Diamond Jubilee, he made sure to mention just how special it was that while prime ministers and presidents were constantly changing, the Queen’s reign “had endured.”

Well, if you think about it, there’s a pretty simple explanation for that one, and it’s not that special at all. Frankie Boyle got on his Twitter to give Obama a little lesson on English politics:

Obama said that while presidents and prime ministers had come and gone, the Queen had endured. That’s because you can vote for them you prick

— Frankie Boyle (@frankieboyle) June 7, 2012

He’s got a point, Mr. President. Just how incredulous can a reign be when the only chance of it being lost is death? Are we to simply marvel at the fact that the Queen evades death day by day?

The rest of us had already had this one figured out, and a few chose to spit venom of their own about Obama:

@frankieboyle obama is a prick

— imran zakir (@imranzakir) June 7, 2012

@frankieboyle To think people called George W Bush stupid! Obama = thick cunt!

— ! (@draxmcg) June 7, 2012

@frankieboyle it's US that have endured!

— Gerry McLaughlin (@GerryMcLaughlin) June 7, 2012

@frankieboyle yeah but look who we voted for!

— sexual health N.I. (@sexhealthNI) June 7, 2012

Just what pointless title will he praise next?
