Marc Lamont Hill laments suicide of convicted killer on death row

HuffPost Live host Marc Lamont Hill, who in April tweeted happy birthday to his “brother,” convicted cop-killer Abu Mumia-Jamal, is commenting about the death of Billy Slagle. On death row in Ohio after being convicted of murder in 1988, Hill doesn’t believe Slagle got a fair shake:

http://twitter.com/#!/marclamonthill/status/364419923600080896

Slagle was a victim? What about the person he killed? That’s the “victim.”

http://twitter.com/#!/marclamonthill/status/364420942950178816 http://twitter.com/#!/marclamonthill/status/364421626030329857

The above tweet received this response:

http://twitter.com/#!/rynlyn/status/364421902309138433

Hill’s tweets on this topic included this misrepresentation:

http://twitter.com/#!/marclamonthill/status/364422228546301952

Read the article and it’s clearly stated that Texas faces running out of the execution drug not because they’re using it all to execute convicted murderers, but because the current supply will have to be discarded next month because it will have reached its expiration date, and no alternatives have been found.

One more comment from Hill:

It is?

American journalist says Egyptian police ‘urged men to beat me up’

Violence against women has long been a part of the political unrest in Egypt, so much so that volunteers set up watchtowers in Tahrir Square and established a “Tahrir Bodyguard” Twitter account to provide escorts and respond to reports of assault. Now, with violence against Western journalists beginning to claim lives, it’s an especially dangerous place for female reporters such as Nancy Youssef, Middle East Bureau chief for McClatchy Newspapers. She claims police encouraged a mob to beat her up.

Other tweets suggest that no one is safe, and a statement reportedly issued by Egypt’s State Information Service acknowledges that “Egypt is feeling severe bitterness towards some Western media coverage that is biased to the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Baylor sports facing possible sanctions

Baylor men's and women's basketball are facing NCAA sanctions. Can only assume its for allowing a men's player to play for the women's team.

Bad day for #Baylor. Perry Jones III is leaving and now the Men's and Women's team may face sanctions.

Baylor getting sanctions. Someone must've went into the women's locker room and noticed something that shouldn't have been there #deepvoice

— Zach Grantham (@zgrantham) April 9, 2012

From ESPN:

The men’s and women’s basketball programs at Baylor University are facing possible NCAA sanctions following an investigation that uncovered more than 1,200 impermissible phone calls and text messages during a 29-month span.

Men’s coach Scott Drew, women’s coach Kim Mulkey and their assistants, were involved in the impermissible phone calls and texts. ESPN.com obtained a copy of the summary disposition, which was produced by the NCAA enforcement committee and Baylor.

Baylor has already self-imposed a number of penalties as a result of the NCAA enforcement staff’s probe, which began in 2008 with the recruiting of women’s basketball star Brittney Griner. The NCAA enforcement committee sent a summary of its findings to Baylor in October and the committee on infractions could announce as early as this week whether additional penalties will be levied.

Gas attacks in Syria? The U.S. sticking a fork in Assad’s Cheerios? Yes, yes. But like Obama, the Twitterverse has priorities:
