We believe it was Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren who initially championed the hashtag #MarineHeldInMexico to draw attention to the plight of Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, imprisoned in Mexico since April 1 when he allegedly took a wrong turn into the country. Tahmooressi, who had three registered firearms in his car, was arrested and imprisoned on weapons charges and remains in a Mexican prison.
Actor and long-time supporter of the military Gary Sinise has taken up Tahmooressi’s cause on Twitter.
