Brainwaves – What You Need To Know to Take Control of Your Life

Our minds are bombarded daily with incoming stimulation that have the potential to move us. Stress has become an accepted part of our existence. We live in the “age of stress” and for the more sophisticated individual, it is referred to as angst. Pharmaceutical drugs are increasingly on the rise, and being prescribed to many young adults creating a dependency at a young age and leading to serious side effects that require more pharmaceutical drugs.

Eastern teachings use their own psychic screening known as meditation. Meditation reduces stress and anxiety, improves happiness, increases self-esteem, strengthens the immune system, improves the functioning of the brain, and slows down the aging process. Meditation does this by stimulating brain waves. Brain waves are at the root of all our thoughts and emotions, and therefore our behavior. If we take control of our brain waves, we take control of our reality. We can literally become the masters of our destiny, rewrite our subconscious programming, and consciously create the person we want to become.

You don’t need to meditate for years in order to enter the same level of consciousness that monks do. There are binaural sounds you can listen to that put you in different brain waves. I recommend Kelly Howell’s Scared Ground that move you into different level of consciousness.

Beta Wave (12 – 38 HZ)

We are in beta when we are awake, engaged in logical tasks, reasoning, and exercising judgement. Beta waves are critical for problem solving, and responding to the world. However, beta is also associated with stress, anxiety, and feeling wired. All states that are mentally fast paced ineffective for dealing with the complexities of the world. You can’t respond to a stressful life by being in a stressful state or brain wave.

Alpha Wave (8-12 HZ)

Alpha is often referred to as the bridge between the conscious and the subconscious mind. It is associated with relaxation, calmness, being grounded, and can be understood as being relaxed and aroused at the same time. The term alpha male and female refer to this brain wave, and not the beta wave we are led to believe. Alpha waves improve concentration, memory and learning. There’s fantastic program called the Silva Mind Control Method that uses alpha waves and guided imagery to rewire the subconscious mind.

Theta Wave (4-8 HZ)

Your deep seated beliefs, programming and unconscious patterns dwell in theta. The border between alpha and theta is the optimal range for reprogramming your subconscious mind and for visualization. People who practice the law of attraction enter the alpha-theta range and visualize the future they want to manifest. Hypnotists can achieve incredible results in self transformation by putting their clients in the theta state and using guided imagery. Theta can be experienced as deep relaxation, and understood as that moment you enter REM. In theta, there is a deep oneness between yourself and other beings.

Delta Wave (0-4 HZ)

Delta waves are associated with the deepest states relaxation, healing, restoration, and said to be the bridge between the conscious and universal mind. As infants we were regularly in delta, however, as we get older we tend to go there less. That could be linked to many factors such as our lifestyle, diet, smoking/drinking habits, and emotional patterns. Your ability to enter delta and rejuvenate yourself is directly liked to your immune system.

Gamma Wave (40 – 100 HZ)

Lighting produces gamma waves and so does your brain, although they’re not the same. Gamma waves in the brain are associated with peak performance, and super learning and can be understood as the feeling of being blessed or having grace. Experienced monks have said that gamma waves lead to compassion, incredible memory, and impeccable self-discipline. People who are depressed are usually suffering from low gamma waves.

By meditating three times a day for 15-20 minutes, you can significantly improve your happiness, self-esteem, and rewire you brain for success. In my experience, the best technique I found is to put myself in the alpha-theta state, and vividly imagine the type of person I want to be and the future I want to create, and act as if it has already happened. The brain can’t tell the difference between a real experience and one vividly imagined. Use it to create the reality you want.
