Boston Red Sox star pitcher Josh Beckett is at the center of another baseball controversy. Just one day after the team announced the right-hander would miss a game due to a strained latissimus muscle, he was seen playing a game of golf as if he had never been injured at all.

To make matters worse Beckett continues to deny seeing anything wrong with his actions. When asked about it he became arrogant and refused to apologize.

“We get 18 off days a year,” Beckett said. “I think we deserve a little time to ourselves.

“I’ll spend my off days how I want to spend them.”

Fans were not at all pleased with Beckett’s attitude.

Not sure what Josh Beckett doesnt get. You make millions, when you are hurt you dont golf. Couldn't say I dont care louder if he screamed it

— Cameron Ginder (@cdginder2) May 11, 2012

Beckett doesn't seem to understand that the issue isn't just golf. It's playing golf while you're "hurt" enough to miss a start. Dope.

— Mike McMahon (@MikeMcMahonCHN) May 11, 2012

Beckett clearly doesn't get it!! If u r too injured to pitch and help ur team u have no business on a golf course!! #truth

— Lori (@lomartin33) May 11, 2012

Really Josh Beckett? What a typical #RedSox player

— Gage Fairleigh (@GageFair) May 11, 2012

Josh Beckett's remarks shows what is wrong with the #RedSox right now. No accountability. No discipline.

— the Don (@DonnieBeezer) May 11, 2012

Josh Beckett playing golf doesn't just "look bad". It IS bad. tells us he wasn't hurt, or doesn't care if he got hurt worse.

— Bob Halloran (@BobWCVB) May 11, 2012

Is it really news any more that Josh Beckett is a dumbass?

— Fake Craig Counsell (@craigcounsell) May 11, 2012

Josh Beckett says he only gets 18 off days a year. Apparently he is not aware of this "offseason" thing that most jobs don't have #redsox

— Dan Ivers (@DanIversNJ) May 11, 2012

Everytime someone plays hooky from work to play golf & then messes up beyond belief it will be referred to as pulling a Josh Beckett. #MLB

— jim mccaughran (@jamccaughran) May 11, 2012

Read more: http://twitchy.com/2012/05/11/clubhouse-cancer-baseball-fans-bash-josh-beckett/

http://twitter.com/#!/AnthonySabatin0/status/200962420095725569 Boston Red Sox star pitcher Josh Beckett is at the center of another baseball controversy.
