Even if 99.999 percent of those tweets are <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KaitlinWhipp\/status\/309758899404292096\">unimportant<\/a> or nonsense, that leaves 5,000 tweets per day that are potentially newsworthy, or at least noteworthy.<\/p>\n<p>Our mission is to find those hidden nuggets and report on them to you, our readers.<\/p>\n<p>We’ve been at it for a year as of today. Scott Walker &mdash; a story that led to an <a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2012\/06\/06\/milwaukee-police-department-says-its-evaluating-threats-made-against-gov-scott-walker\/\">investigation<\/a> by law-enforcement authorities.<\/li>\n<li>We caught mainstream media outlets lying about <a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2013\/01\/29\/outrageous-how-the-left-wing-media-lied-about-newtown-hecklers\/\">the Newtown, Conn., so-called “hecklers<\/a>” and the <a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2013\/02\/12\/msm-serves-up-big-steaming-pile-of-bs-about-former-navy-seal-who-shot-osama-bin-laden\/\">health insurance situation of the former Navy SEAL who shot Osama bin Laden<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>We were the first to report&nbsp;details about&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2012\/07\/20\/aurora-victim-jessica-ghawi-was-tweeting-just-before-her-death\/\">Aurora, Colo., shooting victim Jessica Ghawi<\/a>, who was tweeting just before she was shot and was present at a separate mall shooting six weeks earlier.<\/li>\n<li>Utilizing tweets, photos, and videos posted to Twitter, we were able to cover breaking news &mdash; from <a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2013\/01\/10\/time-bomb-students-at-taft-high-school-tweeted-worries-about-alleged-shooter-last-month-why-is-he-still-allowed-in-school\/\">school shootings in the US<\/a> to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2012\/12\/04\/as-morsi-flees-palace-massive-protests-erupt-all-over-egypt\/\">protests in Egypt<\/a>&nbsp;to <a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2012\/12\/01\/breaking-kansas-city-chief-allegedly-commits-homicide-and-suicide-unconfirmed-killer-was-linebacker-jovan-belcher\/\">an NFL’s player’s homicide-suicide <\/a>&mdash; faster (and in some cases better) than MSM outlets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MSM dinosaurs consider our methods <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MelserWBAL\/statuses\/240159402424946688\">irresponsible<\/a>. They insist that “<a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2012\/06\/13\/real-journalist-juan-williams-pwned-by-just-a-blogger-michelle-malkin\/\">real reporters<\/a>” must wait&nbsp;around for government officials to confirm facts that are already widely known to anyone using Twitter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/twitchy.com\/2012\/08\/27\/wbaltv-reporter-blasts-twitchy-as-irresponsible\/\">Sorry, MSM, we don’t follow your rules.<\/a> We have created a news model that allows people to read information that gatekeepers don&rsquo;t want them to know. Our motto is &ldquo;who said what.&rdquo; Their motto is &ldquo;which official source said what, and we&rsquo;ll let you know when we&rsquo;re good and ready.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Do we make mistakes? Of course. Who doesn’t? And when errors are brought to our attention, we run straightforward corrections.
