Death anxiety is anxiety caused by thoughts of death. One source defines death anxiety as a “feeling of dread, apprehension or solicitude (anxiety) when one thinks of the process of dying, or ceasing to ‘be'”. Also referred to as thanatophobia (fear of death), death anxiety is distinguished from necrophobia, which is a specific fear of dead or dying people and/or things (i.e., fear of others who are dead or dying, not of one’s own death or dying). Additionally, there is anxiety caused by death-related thought-content, which might be classified within a clinical setting by a psychiatrist as morbid and/or abnormal, which for classification pre-necessitates a degree of anxiety which is persistent and interferes with everyday functioning. Lower ego integrity, more physical problems and more psychological problems are predictive of higher levels of death anxiety in elderly people perceiving themselves close to death. Death anxiety can cause extreme timidness with a person’s attitude towards discussing organ donation and anything to do with death.

A picnic is a meal taken outdoors (al fresco) as part of an excursion – ideally in scenic surroundings, such as a park, lakeside, or other place affording an interesting view, or else in conjunction with a public event such as preceding an open-air theatre performance, and usually in summer. Picnics are usually meant for the late mornings or midday breakfasts, but could also be held as a luncheonette or a dinner event. Descriptions of picnics show that the idea of a meal that was jointly contributed and was enjoyed out-of-doors was essential to a picnic from the early 19th century. Picnics are often family-oriented but can also be an intimate occasion between two people or a large get together such as company picnics and church picnics. It is also sometimes combined with a cookout, usually a form of barbecue; either grilling (griddling, gridironing, or charbroiling), braising (by combining a charbroil or gridiron grill with a broth-filled pot), baking, or a combination of all of the above. On romantic and family picnics, a picnic basket and a blanket (to sit or recline on) are usually brought along. Outdoor games or some other form of entertainment are common at large picnics. In established public parks, a picnic area generally includes picnic tables and possibly other items related to eating outdoors, such as built-in grills, water faucets, garbage containers, and restrooms. Some picnics are a potluck, an entertainment at which each person contributed some dish to a common table for all to share. When the picnic is not also a cookout, the food eaten is rarely hot, instead taking the form of deli sandwiches, finger food, fresh fruit, salad, cold meats and accompanied by chilled wine or champagne or soft drinks.

The Buzzard Roost Trail is a hiking trail in Southern Indiana, north of the community of Magnet, Indiana. It is part of the Hoosier National Forest and is maintained by the USDA Forest Service. The trail begins on a bluff overlooking the Ohio River. From there a steep trail ascends through a hardwood forest to a rocky stream that runs into the river with waterfalls and large sandstone outcrops. The trail is approximately 0.8 miles (1.3 km) long. The overlook area has primitive camping and picnic facilities. it has multiple trails with many small caves.

Fremont Peak is a summit in the Gabilan Range, one of the mountain ranges paralleling California’s central coast. The peak affords clear views of the Salinas Valley, Monterey Bay, the southern part of the Santa Clara Valley, and surrounding mountain ranges. It is located on Rocky Ridge, 11 miles (18 km) northeast of Salinas, California. The peak is the site of Fremont Peak State Park which was established with 188 acres (76 ha) in 1936. Today the park has camping and picnic facilities, and is favored by astronomers for its clear views unsullied by artificial light. The Fremont Peak Observatory Association maintains a 30-inch (760 mm) diameter f/4.8 Newtonian “Challenger” telescope which was built by telescope maker Kevin Medlock in the early 1980s. The peak is also the site of the transmitters for television stations such as KSBW and KCBA and for radio stations such as KDON-FM.

The Manitoba Agricultural Museum is dedicated to collecting vintage farm machinery and buildings from 1900 and before. Located on 50 acres (200,000 m2) near Austin, Manitoba in the Rural Municipality of North Norfolk, to date they have amassed over 500 pieces of machinery and a pioneer village consisting of more than 20 buildings complete with artifacts. This is Canada’s largest collection of vintage equipment. The facilities include a camping and picnic grounds and a souvenir shop. Throughout the year the museum offers various tours, schools and hands on experiences climaxing with Annual Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion and Stampede and various other expositions. The annual Threshermen’s Reunion and Stampede is held near the end of July.

Morni is a village and tourist attraction in the Morni Hills at the height of 1,267 metres (4,157 ft) in the Panchkula district of the Indian state of Haryana. It is located around 45 kilometres (28 mi) from Chandigarh, 35 kilometres (22 mi) from Panchkula city and is known for its Himalayan views, flora, and lakes. The name of Morni is believed to derive from a queen who once ruled the area.

North Koʻolaupoko is an area in the City & County of Honolulu, Hawaii, United States, on the island of Oʻahu. It corresponds to the Waikane census-designated place, with a population of 778 at the 2010 census. In Hawaiian, koʻolau poko means “short windward”, referring to the fact that this is the shorter of the two windward districts on the island (Koʻolauloa or “long windward” is the other). Koʻolaupoko extends from Makapuʻu Point on the southeast to Kaʻōʻio Point on the north. Included within the district, south of North Koʻolaupoko, are the largest windward towns of Kāneʻohe, Kailua, and Waimānalo. North Koʻolaupoko lies mostly along the coastline of Kāneʻohe Bay and consists of several lush valleys that extend inland to the steep face of the Koʻolau pali (cliff). The first valley north of Kahaluʻu is Waiāhole. Next is Waikāne, then Hakipuʻu, and northernmost is Kualoa. This area differs from the towns, valleys, and ahupuaʻa of the southern part of Koʻolaupoko in that it is mostly undeveloped, decidedly rural in character, with many small farms. Despite the long shoreline, public access to Kāneʻohe Bay is somewhat limited by private holdings. A small community park at Waiāhole was enlarged and improved in 2003. A larger city and county park at Kualoa provides camping and picnic areas, a long narrow beach, and views of Mokoliʻi Islet (Chinaman’s Hat). The south side of Kualoa Regional Park faces onto Kāneʻohe Bay, and the east shore is a fringing reef off the Pacific Ocean coast of northeast Oʻahu. The U.S. postal code for all of North Koʻolaupoko is 96744 (the same as Kāneʻohe).

Indian Cave State Park is a public recreation and historic preservation area straddling the county line between Nemaha and Richardson counties on the Missouri River, 10 miles (16 km) south of Brownville and 8 miles (13 km) east of Shubert, Nebraska. The 3,052-acre (1,235 ha) state park preserves a cave with prehistoric petroglyphs and the partially reconstructed village of St. Deroin established in 1853 and part of the former Nemaha Half-Breed Reservation. Some of the carvings within Indian Cave are believed to be several thousand years old, but their exact period and cultural affiliations are undetermined. The park offers horseback riding, hiking trails, camping and picnic facilities, fishing areas and winter skiing.
