Many are reporting that a 13 year old Ukrainian boy named Eugene Goostman has passed the Turing Test. Well, not an actual boy—Eugene is a computer simulation.
http://twitter.com/#!/KyleTress/status/475734158464278530 http://twitter.com/#!/TheRickWilson/status/475711677040971776What’s a Turning Test? Basically it is a test to measure a computer’s ability to think like a human being.
A test proposed by British mathematician Alan Turing, and often taken as a test of whether a computer has humanlike intelligence. If a panel of human beings conversing with an unknown entity (via keyboard, for example) believes that that entity is human, and if the entity is actually a computer, then the computer is said to have passed the Turing test.
Basically, the Eugene Goostman simulation fooled about thirty percent of the human judges into thinking Eugene was a human being. Not everyone is convinced that this is such a big milestone though.

As with a lot of things, the real implications won’t truly be understood until the media circus leaves town.
Scientific achievement like anything else on Twitter is always a good excuse for jokes.

What happened? Well, the unhinged actor Eric Roberts made an utter fool of himself on Twitter on Monday.
http://twitter.com/#!/KevinDog220/status/506804705813876736Yes. Yes he is. He’s also a lunatic, evidently. As Twitchy reported, the actor tweeted that George W. Bush killed James Foley, the journalist barbarically beheaded by ISIS, and that Obama (who reportedly knew about the savage threat) “stands for compassion.” No seriously. He said that.
http://twitter.com/#!/michellemalkin/status/506475193649606657Ding, ding, ding!
Twitter users gave him the business and it was marvelous.

Rachel Campos-Duffy, wife of Rep. Sean Duffy, sums up President Obama’s demeaning disregard for women perfectly at a Romney rally in Wisconsin this morning. Obama doesn’t just act like “women can only think from the waist down” — he believes it. And repeatedly reduces women to no more than their “lady parts.”
Forget President Lady Parts’ Fluketastic obsession with what’s below the belt. We’ll stick with the lady smarts of women like Rachel Campos-Duffy.
So excited & honored 2 B speaking @Mitt Romney rally in Wisconsin tomorrow. The crowds 4 Romney &Ryan in WI are HUGE. I smell victory!

Regular Twitchy readers will recognize the name Kermit Gosnell. Horrific details of the Philadelphia abortionist’s murder trial have been passed around like a dirty secret for nearly a month, and yet the trial has escaped most mainstream media coverage. Do the national outlets really have no idea what’s going on in the courtroom, or is the alleged murder of live babies in an abortion clinic a truth too inconvenient to publicize? If it’s the former, maybe a hashtag could generate some curiosity.

Fox News contributor Kirsten Powers has taken notice and has devoted a USA Today column to the media blackout.

A Lexis-Nexis search shows none of the news shows on the three major national television networks has mentioned the Gosnell trial in the last three months. The exception is when Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan hijacked a segment on Meet the Press meant to foment outrage over an anti-abortion rights law in some backward red state.
The Washington Post has not published original reporting on this during the trial and The New York Times saw fit to run one original story on A-17 on the trial’s first day. They’ve been silent ever since, despite headline-worthy testimony.
@kirstenpowers10 Thank you for writing that. As heartwrenching as it is, America needs to be aware.
