New York City-based artist Brian Dettmer‘s nickname is the “Book Surgeon,” and with good reason. His art is created almost exclusively using old books, text books, and encyclopedias. So why the nickname?
It’s because Dettmer uses surgical tools, like scalpels and knives to transform these old books into amazingly intricate works of art. I know it sounds a bit strange, but trust me the results are amazing. Just have a look.
