peace of westphalia map

Several peace icons have been used many ways in a variety of ethnicities and contexts. The dove and olive branch was used symbolically by early Christians and then eventually became a secular tranquility icon, popularized by Pablo Picasso after World Battle 2. In the 1950s the “peace sign”, as it is well known today, was created by Gerald Holtom as the company logo for the United kingdom Advertising campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, an organization at the forefront of the calmness movement in the united kingdom, and used by anti-war and counterculture activists in america and somewhere else. The V hands transmission and the tranquility flag also became international calmness symbols.
